I wouldn't even give Hanson's a 1. They came into my home in February 2019. Spent 3 hours of my time. Convincing me about triple pane windows. Before I knew it he was running a hard credit inquiry on me which affected my credit. When I told them I was paying cash. I did sign because I felt pressured. Cancelled within the 3 day time limit. They proceeded to leave several messages. I filled out the card to get my fee gift. 2 months later I called inquiring about it. And she said she would get with a manager. Never heard back from them. 4 months later and called again. They proceeded to tell me because I did not purchase from them. I wasn't eligible. They wanted me to send them my invoice from where I purchased my new Windows. I don't think so. Free gift is false advertising. They don't intend to send you a free gift. I am so glad I did not purchase from them. And I will be telling a lot of people not to deal with them

Hanson’s just replaced our siding
Hanson’s just replaced our siding. Their product is great, their customer service is great but the subcontractor they hired, Deo Construction, was terrible. Hanson’s had to send the suits out twice to tell them how to do the job right. They left my yard full of nails. They left saw marks in my deck and driveway, the crew used behind my garage as their bathroom, all of this on top of doing a terrible siding job. We finally told Deo Construction not to come back and Hanson’s sent out their “clean up crew”, aka the guys who knew what they’re doing, to finish the job. It took 6 weeks to reside an 1100 sf ranch and a 24x24 garage. The only reason I rated them as average was because of their customer service. Hanson’s is great if you don’t mind having to babysit their crew.

These people are crooks gave them a deposit because my roof was leaking. Then I tried to cancel and the salesman kept calling said they would give me better deal. But had other roofers out here and told me it was a ripoff I have called them numerous times I want my deposit back. They scam women. Bad people

An actual waste of my time — stay far, far away
This is going to be a long one, but after reading many of the experiences with 1-800-Hansons (and now having my own, personal experience with them), I had to share.
James Hoffer was the sales person who came to give me my quote, but turns out he was just there to give me the 1-800-Hansons sales pitch. The measurement was weird, as he started with all windows facing the left because that’s how he liked to do it. He almost missed an entire set of windows in the master bedroom this way, and I had to remind him that he had not measured those. He started his pitch by asking what I was looking for in a company, which makes no sense when I just wanted him to give me a quote for windows. It was very much like an interview, him asking me what kind of values in a company I thought were ideal and valuable. Asking me what I’m looking for in windows on a 1 to 10 scale, which he used again at the end of the pitch (as if to say that since I’ve given all of these things a 9 or 10 and Hansons qualifies for all of them that I will be going with Hansons). He then started telling me about how great Hansons was, how great the CEO is, and that the CEO was on the front cover of a magazine in 2011 and that he can only be on the cover of it once even though he wants to be on it again. Like it matters to windows in any way. The literature he brought with him was in an old, nasty looking binder, and all the paperwork he showed me was dated, at the highest, 2017. Nothing he showed me had current information about the company and their work in 2019. He used manipulative scare tactics, showing me his permit and then saying “I’m very sure that all the people that you’ve talked to already have showed you theirs”.
Hansons only offers windows with triple-pane glass, which can only be found on their website stated in ONE location (on the window replacement page). Not on the home page, not even on the Window FAQ page! Only on the window replacement page, a brief mention once and hidden within a paragraph of text. James Hoffer’s explanation for triple-pane windows being the best was “because 3 is better than 2”, validating this with a newspaper clipping that he claimed was from the Detroit Free Press (with no logo or date to it, so who’s to really know if that was true). 3 being better than 2 is NOT a good reason to go with triple-pane windows, and simply telling me that 3 is better than 2 is not very convincing. I’ve had Home Depot, a local window company, and Wallside Windows come out prior to this appointment, and I learned about the windows from all of them more than I did about the 1-800-Hansons windows — other than that 3 is better than 2.
It took over an hour just to get a quoted price from him. After giving me the quote and telling me that I’d be best off getting the Smart Choice windows (3rd in a tier of 4, so the 3rd highest priced which I hadn’t even said that I wanted since I’m trying to be budget conscious), he started to pack up his things while telling me that I can go get out my drivers license and we can get started. Inquiring why I needed my drivers license for simply a quote, he said that I needed my drivers license to get started on financing. James Hoffer was looking to close the deal right then and there — for $11,000+ windows that I wasn’t convinced I needed to get. Out of everyone who has come out to give me a quote so far, no one other than Hansons has requested my drivers license. Just another red flag.
I politely tried to get him to leave by stating that I was just looking for a quote, and that I had more to think about with other competitors. After asking me how long I needed to think about it (which I couldn’t give an answer to because at that point I didn’t want to use Hansons), he “called” a manager or supervisor asking if there was “anything else they could do for me” as I was going to sign in “about a week” and he wanted to make sure the 60% off would still be available at that time — surprise! It wasn’t going to be. Was there absolutely anything else they could do for me? I found this to be an old generation, manipulative scare tactic to get me into signing a contract with Hansons right then and there.
My parter (who hadn’t been available until the last 10 minutes of this spiel) actually told him to pack up and leave, which James Hoffer directly ignored. Again, trying to get him to leave, I said that needed time to consider other competitors, and he actually raised his voice asking if we had better offers from competitors who offered triple pane windows. I said no, and he again asked what the problem was. Even after I said that I appreciated him coming out, he rudely asked if there was anything wrong and I said yes you’re not respecting our request that you leave our home. They eventually complied because I was the one who asked them to leave.
The entire appointment took an hour and 15 minutes, the first 5 being window measurements. I can’t believe what an entire waste of time it was. A man from Wallside Windows had actually been to my home a few hours earlier to give a quote, and when I told him that I also had an appointment with Hansons he told me to look up reviews because very few people have anything good to say about 1-800-Hansons. He said appointments can take up to 3 to 4 hours, and they’re looking to scare and manipulate you into signing a contract right in the moment. I figured that Hansons is a competitor to Wallside, so he has to talk bad about Hansons, but he actually didn’t talk bad about them until I brought up my appointment. I looked up reviews and found this site, but figured I’d keep my appointment because how bad could it really be. It’s as bad as everyone says it is. The only positive thing I can say about it is that he removed his shoes before walking through my home. But I imagine that’s also part of the 1-800-Hansons scheme. Don’t waste your time scheduling an appointment with 1-800-Hansons. You’ll regret it like most of everyone else here.

Subcontracting out their work
When I decided to use Hansons as my contractor. I had no idea that they contracted out their work to small contractors. I expected a professional crew from Hansons with a Hansons logo pulling in the drive. What I got was a contractor from my area with their company logo with 4 or 5 guys pulling their shirts off and going up on the roof. Then soon after they started I’m in my house and hear screaming and cussing at each other. I go outside I had two guys on my roof just about to start fighting, one was threatening to throw the other one off the roof, I thought real nice professional work. I work road construction with a large well known company in the area. It gets really hot working in the dead of summer on 300 degree asphalt. Nobody in our company takes their shirt off, and when we are working in neighborhoods we make sure there is no cussing. It’s just not professional and you never know when the little one’s are within hearing range. The quality of work was average, I spent the rest of the summer picking up nails and pieces of shingles out of my bushes and grass. Not recommended you just don’t know what is going to pull in you driveway.

Buyer beware
Hired Hanson’s to put on a new roof. Would not recommend. After 2 hours with sales guy, we signed contract. Spoke to office staff 5 times. Every time they called to send the guys out I asked about building permit. We got the run around. Staff do not talk to one another. Be aware and do your due diligence. We ended up getting our township involved to cover our own butt. Was told by sales person not a problem to have our dish put back up by them, we would just have to have dish come align it. Not true, once the crew installed our roof we then were told our warranty would not be any good. Which was a contradiction from the sales man. An last but not least I initialed 21 places on the contract of which 16 of them were useless Hanson’s did not hold true to. Buyer beware.
