Do NOT stay in student accomodation by GREYSTAR!!!
They have just taken over my son's student accomodation, that Cardiff University subsidizes, and they are outrageous. He was using an accommodation bike to cycle to the sports ground to go to play for a university football team. Someone tried to steal the bike and cut the lock, but were unsuccessful. The lock was damaged and he couldn't release the bike and had to walk several miles home after 2 matches. My son told the accommodation and this was their response, they told him to find a BOLT CUTTER!!!!
"I wanted to remind you that you borrowed the bike, and it's your responsibility to return it. If you’re having trouble releasing it, you can find a bolt cutter to help you with that."
They will not support your child while a university. STEER CLEAR.
I wonder if they just want to charge him for being a victim of crime - watch this space, I'll keep you updated.

Steer clear of Greystar properties…Cheats, lies, thieves
Absolutely horrible company and so sad we are stuck in 1 year lease again. My sister, niece and I lived together in Corona CA for 4 years. At move-in the leasing agent gave us a “special” to pay $30 a month instead of a deposit in full at the time of move in. Form was called “LeaseLock”, Form says Zero-Deposit Waiver but none of the 11 or so statements are initialed that say non-refundable etc, and they were not discussed. We just electronically signed the bottom of the document assuming it was a prorated type of deposit. Truth we didn’t care if we got it back, but we sure did not expect to OWE ANYTHING when we moved out, especially when LeaseLock is an insurance company. Our mom got sick and I spent and am still at my mom’s caring for her. We decided to downsize and move upstairs to a smaller unit. We paid to overlap rent so we had time to move as life is chaotic. Upon move out on Christmas Day we received a bill for $3,700. They were charging a full month’s rent downstairs because they said we did not return keys until 12/2 (not knowing we moved upstairs and have proof we did not owe rent on the unit) —- but they are thieves. After taking precious time and ruining Xmas and adding more stress, they decided we owed $460 for wear and tear and cleaning. When I inquired about the $30 a month for 4 years, sent pictures of the agreement, told them the original leasing agent had died, the new leasing agents used the old form the last two years and had no idea what it even was (email to prove it), told them that a zero deposit waiver is illegal in California as of 7/2024, that LeaseLock is insurance, they said sorry Greystar wouldn’t have it if it wasn’t legal. Pay it. No negotiation. Nothing. I am so busy with a full time job working from home and 24/7 care of my mother I cannot spend my time fighting this, but I would if I could. I will notify housing authorities because Greystar is brutal. No flexibility. We are great tenants. I paid it so it doesn’t go to collections.

Management values profit over tenant safety
Management here does not prioritize tenant health and safety over profit. Due to a neighbor breaking community rules and smoking in her unit, my unit has become unsafe and uninhabitable due to the secondhand smoke. The air quality in my apartment is very unhealthy and hazardous. My request to be moved to a different unit for reasonable accommodation was denied for the sake of money. If I were to move into a different unit, I would need to accept a rent increase of $400+. Management said they would not honor my current rental rate if I moved units. I am stuck in unsafe living conditions for the sake of their profit.

This company doesn’t even deserve 1…
This company doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Horrible management. Disorganized, they turn staff over to save money, they overcharge for services you don’t utilize and they build hidden charges in monthly rent. Their upper management is callous and inept. Slumlords.

I would give zero stars if I could
I would give zero stars if I could. I just applied for an apartment in Indianapolis, IN through them. I called and LVMs, emailed every office I could find, etc...My ex-boyfriend's email was on my application (he and I lived in a Greystar community in 2020-2021, so we already had accounts). This man was my abuser and I left in 2021 after buying out my portion of the rent for the next couple months until our lease was up. I THOUGHT I had it fixed, but now he is getting ALL the emails regarding my application. He will know if I am approved before I know. That is NOT safe and it is NOT ok. Do better Greystar. Very disappointed and pissed.
ETA: I received a call back from Valerie from Greystar. She is refunding the entire $200 application fee. The leasing consultant and I got into a slight verbal altercation over the phone, but Valerie really made it better! I STILL love the apartment and the area, but I am very unsure about all of this. The email WAS fixed, so I am so very thankful for that!

Refuse to return my security deposist
I stayed at 2626 Fountainview from October 2021-October 2024, it is now February 17, 2025 and I have not received my security deposit. I have called and emailed the company and they have yet to get back to me.
I was a resident with Morgan Group before they switched over to Greystar in November. Morgan group is liable for my security deposit since I moved out in October and Greystar has no records of my vacancy. However, Morgan Group is stating that is not the case.
I have contacted both property management and on site, in hopes of resolving the matter without brining in the courts. Each party has been putting the responsibility on one another. This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Legal action is in process for both Morgan Group and Greystar. Don't EVER give your money to either company. They will illegally withhold your security deposit.

Hidden Fee Mafia
All and all the facility is alright. However, it seems no matter what is to be done you will be paying a lot when you move out. I was not invited to do a walk through when i moved out. I had the place professionally cleaned once i had my things out as i had my other place early. After the walk through they claimed i had animal stains on my carpet that they could smell. So they cut up the carpets and charged me for them. Firstly i have no animals. And secondly I had it professionally cleaned prior and could not smell anything. After i pointed this out they said my case is closed and i have to deal with the parent company, Greystar, who in turn did nothing but tell me if i don't pay it goes to collections and hurts my credit. I would recommend staying elsewhere especially if you like your freedoms and having your money in your bank account. If you are living here and going to move out, ensure you are there during the walk through!
