Bad Faith Insurer
Three words - Bad Faith Insurer *** Moving this to the top since it is important - To everyone that has had issues dealing with Petplan - I know not everyone is in a position to bring legal action but at the very least file a complaint with your state's insurance commission and get these misdeeds on the official record. Bad faith in the insurance world is a big deal and these companies need to be held accountable *** I am in the insurance business and please do yourself a favor and run as far away from this company as you can if you do not have your own legal team behind you. I fortunately have that benefit being in the industry myself and the hassle is still not worth it. I read insurance policies for a living and understand how the industry works, apparently a type of person Petplan needs to hire more of. They do not communicate with you despite numerous calls and emails. If by some chance you do get someone they say they will be in contact in a couple of days only for weeks to go by, Once they finally do get around to denying the claim they claim phantom pre-exisitng conditions that leave my dog's veterinary team scratching their head's in disbelief. They refuse to supply any support or backup for their decisions they just tell you that you can appeal(after several weeks of ignoring your communication). At one point their own representative called the process an "administrative calamity" but it doesn't matter in that they do not stand behind their policies anyway and basically say go ahead and sue us because they know most people will not take the time, money or effort to do so. So again unless you have a team of insurance lawyers behind you as I do then do not even consider Petplan as your pet's insurer. Extremely disappointing to have been a customer of such a horrible company for over 10 years. Find another pet insurer or throw the money in a shoe box you will be better off in the long run.
