Don't bother clicking the"Get the best price" button. I did and got nothing but a run around. Never received a dollar value. They started with "We have a ton of activity on these things" to try to put the pressure on immediately. I asked for their best price, and they kept asking for more personal information until I just cut things off.

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware – My Experience with General RV
I purchased a used Tiffin Allegro Open Road motorhome from General RV and my experience has been extremely disappointing.
During the purchase, I was charged approximately $4,000 for dealer preparation, Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), and repair-related work that I was led to believe had been completed before delivery. However, shortly after taking possession of the coach, I discovered numerous defects, including safety-related issues.
Among the problems found were:
• Brake and taillight failures
• Dry-rotted windshield wipers
• Entry step malfunction
• Missing toilet seal causing sewer gas intrusion
• Carbon monoxide and propane detector issues
• Loose propane fittings with potential leak concerns
• HVAC water intrusion and HVAC failure
• Tires underinflated by as much as 20 PSI
• Electrical system defects
• Rear camera visibility problems
• Slide system defects
One of the first issues involved the slide system. The extended warranty company denied coverage because it determined the problem was a pre-existing condition that should have been discovered during the dealer's inspection process. This conclusion was also confirmed by Tiffin and the certified repair technician who repaired the coach.
When concerns were raised, I found customer service slow to respond and difficult to work with. In my experience, significant follow-up was required before receiving answers or assistance. It often appeared that the sales department and service department operated independently rather than working together to resolve customer concerns.
General RV ultimately reimbursed for the repair expenses of the slide, but only after more than a month of communications and repeated follow-up (this was a challenge when staff did not respond or acknowledge communication).
There are concerns involving inspection records. I was initially told no inspection report existed. Later, I was told inspection, and preparation documents did exist but would not be provided because they were “proprietary”. As a customer who paid approximately $4,000 for preparation and inspection services, I found this frustrating and concerning, and a questionable costumer service practice.
My experience raises the following questions for prospective buyers:
• What specific work was performed during dealer preparation and PDI?
• What documentation exists to verify that work?
• How were numerous defects missed before delivery?
• If a major defect is later determined to be pre-existing, who is responsible?
My advice to anyone considering purchasing a used RV from General RV is:
• Obtain all promises in writing.
• Require detailed documentation of any dealer prep or inspection charges.
• Have an independent RV inspector examine the coach before purchase.
• Personally test every system, appliance, slide, camera, light, and safety device.
• Do not assume that this dealer’s preparation means all defects have been identified and/or repaired.
Based on my experience, consumers should be prepared to advocate aggressively for themselves if significant issues arise after purchase.
In my case, repeated communication alone was not sufficient to obtain meaningful responses or resolution. I ultimately found it necessary to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and pursue assistance through consumer protection channels.
Prospective buyers should understand that resolving disputes may require extensive documentation, persistent follow-up, and the involvement of outside organizations such as the Better Business Bureau, state consumer protection agencies, and/or the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.
Depending on the nature of the dispute and the amount involved, consumers may also need to consult an attorney or pursue legal remedies through the court system to obtain documentation, enforce commitments, or seek reimbursement for disputed charges.
After my experience, my recommendation is to keep copies of all advertisements, purchase documents, repair invoices, emails, text messages, and notes from phone conversations from the very beginning of the transaction. Detailed records may become essential if a dispute develops
This review reflects my personal experience and the documented issues I encountered after purchasing my motorhome from General RV.

General RV
General RV, 1577 Wells Road Orange Park, FL (Jacksonville) just stole $500 from us when we decided, within the three-day rescission period, not to go ahead with the non-deal they negotiated. This is NOT an honest or ethical company!

I purchased a Thor Palladium RV in June…2025
I purchased a Thor Palladium RV in June 2025 from General RV in Huntley, Illinois. This review concerns both the quality of the product and the service provided by General RV and Thor Motor Coach.
During its maiden voyage, the unit suffered a major failure while traveling 60 mph in the mountains of Tennessee. It failed again shortly afterward while traveling 35 mph in a subdivision. Despite the RV being under warranty, neither General RV nor Thor acted with urgency to address these serious safety and reliability issues.
The RV was only towed to Indiana after the threat of legal action. It then sat for months with poor communication, little follow-up, and no meaningful customer support. After repairs were supposedly completed at the end of October, the RV was placed into storage for the winter. When brought out again in the spring, additional wiring and battery failures occurred, requiring yet another return for repairs.
For anyone considering the purchase of an RV, carefully consider not only the product you are buying, but also the dealership standing behind it. In my experience, General RV was willing to sell the product, but far less willing to support it after the sale. I was repeatedly transferred between departments and individuals without resolution.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend either the product quality or the level of customer service provided by Thor or General RV.

Great Customer Service!
We purchased a new trailer from Birch Run, Michigan General RV in October. There was an issue with some water collecting in the underbelly which was addressed twice. We worked with Alissa both times and she could not have been nicer. All the people we engaged with were friendly and helpful. Our experience with this General RV will keep us returning to them even though there is another General RV much closer to our home. Very positive experience, thanks Alissa!

Took my travato to have a summarization…
Took my travato to have a summarization done. Service person was excellent. It all went down hill when they charged $123 (which I expected) and then tacked on an addition 2.75% because I used a credit card to pay. The old saying goes penny wise and pound foolish.

Dear Management Team,
Dear Management Team,
I am writing to formally document a series of issues I experienced during the purchase, demo, and pickup of my RV. While several staff members were professional and helpful, the overall experience was unacceptable and resulted in significant delays, additional expenses, and considerable frustration.
Positive Interactions:
Lily in online service provided excellent support.
Adam in financing and insurance was also very helpful.
Janet conducted a thorough and professional demo.
Janet ensured the gas tank was eventually filled, though I had to request this twice.
Mike completed the paperwork at the dealership and later contacted me on the 14th.
Major Issues:
Broken Refrigerator: During the demo, I was informed that the refrigerator required a part. I was told I would need to travel to an RV center in Salisbury, NC, which is two hours from my home, to have it repaired. This was suggested despite the dealership having my address on file. No one addressed who would cover the time, fuel, or inconvenience associated with this.
Hanging Wires and Water Selection Knob: Exposed wires and a loose water selection knob were discovered. I waited over an hour for these issues to be corrected.
Paperwork and Payment Issue: After returning home, I received a call on the 14th stating that my credit card had not been charged an additional $1,000, despite my having already signed the paperwork. This should have been identified before I left the dealership. I ultimately completed all remaining paperwork the following Sunday after receiving multiple phone calls and text messages.
Delays and Travel Impact: Due to delays at the dealership, my departure was pushed back by five hours. I then faced an 8.5-hour drive home. The delay caused complications with my rental car return, resulting in a late return and additional stress. I ultimately arrived home six hours later than planned.
Lack of Communication and Accountability: The individual responsible for overseeing or approving these decisions spent less than two minutes with me. The interaction was brief and dismissive, and I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously.
Closing: While I appreciate the efforts of the staff members who were helpful, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. I am requesting acknowledgment of these issues and clarification on how the dealership intends to address the refrigerator repair, travel-related costs, and the mishandling of paperwork.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Brian W Wilhelm
