I took out a heloc loan and the title company sent FNBO a check to pay off my credit card. After close to a month, I called customer service and they told me they did not have the check. The title company canceled payment and overnighted a new check. FNBO then attempted to cash the first check (the one the "didn't have.) and it came back NSF. I tracked the second check and it was received May 22nd. It is now June 10th and the payment has still not been applied. I called customer service and they said they do not have the check. I assured them they do, as I tracked the package and explained the first situation. The first check was received by FNBO April 27th, the second check May 22nd and still not payment has been applied and my account continues to gain interest. It is unethical.
Update June 23rd- FNBO still cannot find the check and the payment has not been applied, despite providing the tracking number, the day time, person who received the check, the check number and the check amount.
Customer service says they will follow up and then no phone call. They say they cannot email the accounting department only email and it's been 2 weeks.
The incompetence is truly scary. I've been trying to pay since April and it's almost July.

Avoid FNBO - these people are con artists and shady dealers
This is an untrustworthy bank. I would avoid it unless you like deception and con artists. My elderly mother in law has been a loyal customer for years. While hospitalized, a CD matured. They rolled the CD into a new one - with a .01% interest rate after she failed to respond to notice. Later when she discovered the con, they threatened that if she cashed out the cd she faced financial penalties. Very ominous. Turns out upon further questions, the penalty is $20 because the interest was negligible. This same bank sends mail to my elderly MIL despite us going to the bank twice asking for everything to be done online. They don't send statements but rather shady marketing. This bank is owned by near-billionaires who apparently want to squeeze another few hundred dollars from a long time customer in her 80s. Shame on FNBO, a con artist masquerading as an honest bank.

Extremely Disappointing Experience
UPDATE: FNBO responded to my review with the same generic, copy-and-paste rhetoric they use for nearly every negative review—and there are plenty of them. Instead of posting canned responses that pretend to show concern, how about addressing the issues that keep generating so many negative reviews in the first place? Actions speak louder than scripted replies.
My experience with First National Bank of Omaha has completely destroyed my trust in this company. Having your credit limit reduced without any clear explanation is frustrating, disruptive, and makes it impossible to rely on this bank. It feels like customers are treated as numbers instead of people.
Before opening an account or credit card with FNBO, I would strongly encourage anyone to read the reviews on Trustpilot, ConsumerAffairs, and the BBB. Seeing so many people describe similar experiences should give any potential customer serious pause.
A financial institution should reward responsible customers with consistency and transparency—not surprise them with decisions that can negatively affect their finances, credit utilization and even credit scores. If this is how FNBO chooses to treat its customers, it's hard to understand why anyone would trust them with their business.
This has been one of the worst banking experiences I've had, and I won't be doing business with FNBO again. I cannot recommend this bank to anyone looking for a reliable financial institution.
A company's culture is reflected in how it treats its customers. Based on my experience, FNBO has shown a complete lack of transparency, accountability, and respect. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Dropped credit limit for no reason
Much like many other people on here I started out really liking this card and they gave me a very generous credit limit of $12,000. I have made every single payment on time for over four years. I always pay above the minimum payment. And about six months ago, my credit score went down 10 points because I had some vet, emergency bills and put them on a credit card. FNBO dropped my credit limit. My credit score went back up after I paid that debt off and they increased it back by $1000. Last month I paid off $28,000 in debt my score went up to 750. And today I got a notice that they dropped my credit limit to $200 above what my current charges are. So now I am at about 98% utilization on that card when I was under 20% to start with. So apparently with this card company, if you pay off the majority of your debt and raise your credit score by 30 points, they decide to lower your credit limit instead of increasing it like every other company. Once this is paid off, I’m not going to be utilizing it anymore.

Customer Service Issue (resolved after 4 calls).
FNBO will not release my payment to my account even though my payment has cleared my bank days ago. When I asked why this hold is being place Iva the rudest person I have spoken with (supervisor) would not escalate my call, would not provide me with any way to discuss my call further and then disconnected me.
I use this card because of their work with MGM and now I am starting to reconsider my future spend with MGM going forward.
When I asked for them to provide me with the reason for while my funds are being held she quite literally said that they don't have that information and that they don't have to tell me.
That is a huge transparency problem, that this bank will arbitrarily hold your funds, not inform you why, and not give you any way to appeal or unlock the availability of those funds.
FNBO has given me issues before but I have never dealt with someone so rude that is in a supervisor position. Especially to a long term customer who has made every payment on time.
Even when I had one returned funds request nearly 2 years ago I called them to inform them that a glitch with how their website uses radio buttons on mobile devices cause the issue, I don't know how I could be an a better customer, but they simply don't care and this not only shades my opinion of FNBO but of MGM.
What's more frustrating is a $164 payment I made after the $1400 payment was released and when I asked "well is there a limit on my payments and can you tell me what that is" they would not.
I informed them that I am taking a trip next week and need to use that card for my trip, the response was "well you are not taking the trip now so no".
Again, very rude, very dismissive of valid concerns from a long time customer, and a complete lack of transparency to the customer.
5/14 update:
I spoke to Lori from the executive team and the experience was not particularly pleasant.
All the same questions I had before (why are the holds happening, what policy changes caused this process on my account, what is the limit to avoid being stuck with constant holds, will the holds be lifted if there is an emergency or if I am stranded away from home) were not answered.
She did say she could see if she could possibly approve the release of the hold if I provided my bank account number and routing number.
Keep in mind she called me back from a different line then I was given by the previous supervisor and I frankly don't think anyone should be asking for my bank account number on an unknown line (which is why I asked for that number in the first place).
She later said all they need is the routing number but I don't have that readily available so she said she was going disconnect (hang up on me).
Second time now I have gotten that from a supervisor at FNBO.
Giving her the benefit of the doubt that she said account number instead of routing number (twice) in error, it is definitely something that should not be asked.
So now I am going to go grab my checkbook call back so she can put it into some sort of system to check if the hold can be released. Keep in mind the funds have already been paid by my bank on the 11th and they have stated that they have them credited to my account.
Apparently they simply don't trust that my payment won't be returned and the fact that the single time it happened was nearly 2 years ago and the fact that I called and went through how the issue occured, what they could do to fix it and ensure it doesn't happen again didn't matter at all.
And that is honestly one of my biggest pet peeves, when I take time out of my life to try to help companies fix broken processes and the company simply ignores them. It shows that the company does not actually value any real feedback to improve any processes or experiences, they are simply complacent.
Overall experience has been very poor and executive team is not improving this, only digging a deeper hole. Will update after next interaction. Already filed complaint and review on BBB as well.
5/14 Final Update:
Issue resolved although I am still very uncertain about why this issue happened and there seems to be no way to appeal or find out any additional information. Lori (who was much more understanding on the second call so I credit her with that) was able to release the funds and informed me of the process to do so in the future which the first supervisor Iva or the second supervisor should have been able to do and she understood my frustration of having to go through 4 separate people, file 2 reviews and a complaint with the BBB just to have a process done that should have taken 10 minutes.
Calls were recorded and I encourage FNBO to review them to identify training issues and policy changes to rectify issues like this.
I am leaving space below as since there is no real resolution to the root cause I am entirely uncertain if it will happen again and if it does I will update accordingly.

Hi David,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I'm truly sorry for the frustration you've encountered with your payment hold and the way your concerns were handled. You deserved better, especially as a valued long-term customer with a strong payment history.
I want you to know that your feedback has been heard. The lack of clear communication about why your funds were held and your experience are not reflective of the service we strive to provide. Your concerns about transparency are completely valid, and I understand how unsettling it must feel to not have answers about your own account—particularly when you have travel plans coming up.
I also want you to know that someone from our team has recently left you a voicemail. We'd genuinely like the opportunity to look into what happened and work toward a resolution that addresses your immediate needs.
Your loyalty and your partnership with MGM matter to us, and we don't take lightly that this experience has you reconsidering that relationship. We appreciate the feedback you've shared about the mobile website issue in the past as well—customers like you who communicate openly help us improve.
Please give us a chance to make this right. If you haven't already, we encourage you to return that call so we can discuss your account and concerns directly.
Again, I apologize for the experience you had. We hope to restore your confidence in us.

Awful bank and service
Awful bank, we were not able to set automatic pay, and we did it online, it didn't apply, then they reported our account late to Credit.
Response from FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha)Apr 28, 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you experienced with your AutoPay setup. I understand how disappointing it must have been to expect your payment to be processed automatically, only to discover it wasn't.
I want to assure you that we take your concerns seriously. When AutoPay is enrolled, it does not become active starting with the current billing cycle. The next billing cycle it does become active to ensure proper processing time and account synchronization. While this information is provided during the setup process, I recognize that it may not have been as clear as it should be, and for that, I'm truly sorry.
To help resolve this situation, I'd like to:
Have you call so your account can be reviewed to ensure there are no late fees.
At that time, the representative can confirm that your AutoPay is now properly configured for all future billing cycles.
Your satisfaction is important to us, and we value your business. Please contact us at 888-530-3626, 24/7, and the representative will ensure we get this resolved.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Feedback like yours helps us improve the experience for all our customers.
