I just received a letter in the mail from FNBO offering me a credit card with a 0% introductory APR rate for both purchase and for balance transfers through June 2027, a whole year from now, oh and no annual fees! Granted I have pretty good credit I’ve worked realllllly hard for so I figured it sounded pretty great, right?!? The only think was, knowing this would take a hit to my credit score showing an inquiry, I at least wanted the inquiry to be worth it as far as being extended a decent credit line but I find no were that mentions anything about a credit line. Could be $300 or $35,000🤷♀️ I’m not sure if it’s worth the gamble but was still intrigued. ….UNTIL I read alllllll of these reviews giving 1 star and most had very similar problems. That’s got me having cold feet now.
On a side note, your company FNBO could really use someone like me to genuinely explain and help your customers out vs the generic copy/paste message where their concerns appear to fall on deaf ears with no willingness to look into each issue and correct what needs to be fixed to ensure the success of this financial situation and it’s reputation. I’d be more than happy to if you guys are interested and hiring because 100 one star reviews on here wont generate future business. I mean this sincerely. Please reach out if you’re interested. If not, understandable. Hate to see your company crash and burn when it’s not too late to turn it around. ….now back to the letter I got today about me pre-qualifying for a creditcard through your company… I’m tempted but also scared after the reviewss. I’m really responsible and pay everything on time with an extensive credit history, zero late payments, and zero collections.
Thanks you for your time!

Hi Kaylan, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for considering FNBO.
We understand that applying for a new credit card is an important decision, and it's natural to have questions about the application process and what to expect. Credit decisions, including approved credit limits, are based on a variety of factors unique to each applicant, so we're not able to determine those details before an application is submitted.
We appreciate your feedback about your experience and your perspective on customer communication. We take comments like yours seriously and are always looking for ways to improve.
If you have questions about the offer you received or would like to discuss your options before applying, please don't hesitate to give our 24/7 Customer Care team a call at 888-530-3626 and we'd be happy to assist you.
Thank you again for reaching out, and we hope to have the opportunity to earn your business.

Customer Service Issue (resolved after 4 calls).
FNBO will not release my payment to my account even though my payment has cleared my bank days ago. When I asked why this hold is being place Iva the rudest person I have spoken with (supervisor) would not escalate my call, would not provide me with any way to discuss my call further and then disconnected me.
I use this card because of their work with MGM and now I am starting to reconsider my future spend with MGM going forward.
When I asked for them to provide me with the reason for while my funds are being held she quite literally said that they don't have that information and that they don't have to tell me.
That is a huge transparency problem, that this bank will arbitrarily hold your funds, not inform you why, and not give you any way to appeal or unlock the availability of those funds.
FNBO has given me issues before but I have never dealt with someone so rude that is in a supervisor position. Especially to a long term customer who has made every payment on time.
Even when I had one returned funds request nearly 2 years ago I called them to inform them that a glitch with how their website uses radio buttons on mobile devices cause the issue, I don't know how I could be an a better customer, but they simply don't care and this not only shades my opinion of FNBO but of MGM.
What's more frustrating is a $164 payment I made after the $1400 payment was released and when I asked "well is there a limit on my payments and can you tell me what that is" they would not.
I informed them that I am taking a trip next week and need to use that card for my trip, the response was "well you are not taking the trip now so no".
Again, very rude, very dismissive of valid concerns from a long time customer, and a complete lack of transparency to the customer.
5/14 update:
I spoke to Lori from the executive team and the experience was not particularly pleasant.
All the same questions I had before (why are the holds happening, what policy changes caused this process on my account, what is the limit to avoid being stuck with constant holds, will the holds be lifted if there is an emergency or if I am stranded away from home) were not answered.
She did say she could see if she could possibly approve the release of the hold if I provided my bank account number and routing number.
Keep in mind she called me back from a different line then I was given by the previous supervisor and I frankly don't think anyone should be asking for my bank account number on an unknown line (which is why I asked for that number in the first place).
She later said all they need is the routing number but I don't have that readily available so she said she was going disconnect (hang up on me).
Second time now I have gotten that from a supervisor at FNBO.
Giving her the benefit of the doubt that she said account number instead of routing number (twice) in error, it is definitely something that should not be asked.
So now I am going to go grab my checkbook call back so she can put it into some sort of system to check if the hold can be released. Keep in mind the funds have already been paid by my bank on the 11th and they have stated that they have them credited to my account.
Apparently they simply don't trust that my payment won't be returned and the fact that the single time it happened was nearly 2 years ago and the fact that I called and went through how the issue occured, what they could do to fix it and ensure it doesn't happen again didn't matter at all.
And that is honestly one of my biggest pet peeves, when I take time out of my life to try to help companies fix broken processes and the company simply ignores them. It shows that the company does not actually value any real feedback to improve any processes or experiences, they are simply complacent.
Overall experience has been very poor and executive team is not improving this, only digging a deeper hole. Will update after next interaction. Already filed complaint and review on BBB as well.
5/14 Final Update:
Issue resolved although I am still very uncertain about why this issue happened and there seems to be no way to appeal or find out any additional information. Lori (who was much more understanding on the second call so I credit her with that) was able to release the funds and informed me of the process to do so in the future which the first supervisor Iva or the second supervisor should have been able to do and she understood my frustration of having to go through 4 separate people, file 2 reviews and a complaint with the BBB just to have a process done that should have taken 10 minutes.
Calls were recorded and I encourage FNBO to review them to identify training issues and policy changes to rectify issues like this.
I am leaving space below as since there is no real resolution to the root cause I am entirely uncertain if it will happen again and if it does I will update accordingly.
Response from FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha)May 15, 2026
Hi David,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I'm truly sorry for the frustration you've encountered with your payment hold and the way your concerns were handled. You deserved better, especially as a valued long-term customer with a strong payment history.
I want you to know that your feedback has been heard. The lack of clear communication about why your funds were held and your experience are not reflective of the service we strive to provide. Your concerns about transparency are completely valid, and I understand how unsettling it must feel to not have answers about your own account—particularly when you have travel plans coming up.
I also want you to know that someone from our team has recently left you a voicemail. We'd genuinely like the opportunity to look into what happened and work toward a resolution that addresses your immediate needs.
Your loyalty and your partnership with MGM matter to us, and we don't take lightly that this experience has you reconsidering that relationship. We appreciate the feedback you've shared about the mobile website issue in the past as well—customers like you who communicate openly help us improve.
Please give us a chance to make this right. If you haven't already, we encourage you to return that call so we can discuss your account and concerns directly.
Again, I apologize for the experience you had. We hope to restore your confidence in us.

Review before you go with FNBO - bill is not clear and they're misleading!!
I've been a card member with this business since 2017 where most times it's been good but lately last year the way they hold the balance of my charges keeps to be transferring over then when credits come into play from last period doesn't cover the whole charge that was paid off therefore then I get the extra charge back to me and the way they produce their statement is soooo messed up and not readable the way the I would it logically. I asked them to close my account once the unknown charges that I felt got messed over this business is paid off and it's now. They don't communicate with customers how I could have handled this if I didn't want to see future surprise charges because they AS-S-U-ME that I got it figured out when they could have helped their customers explaining things clearly but they didn't because as long as they get their money that's what matters!

Poor Interest Rates
The FNBO Direct web interface could be better. #1 they should display the current interest rate on the main page when accessing your account. The only way to see the rate is to download a PDF statement. FNBO Direct's interest rate is around 25% lower rate than competitors so not the best option out there.
