"OK" in the end...
The facts are as follows: 1) Prescription COSTA sunglasses sent in based upon a $20-$30 estimate to replace the nosepiece. 2) After receipt of the glasses, the vendor returned a $129 estimate, which I interpreted as a "bait and switch" effort. 3) I requested that they return the glasses as-is. 4) They arrived poorly packed and both lenses were popped out of the frame. 5) I expressed my displeasure, and the vendor negotiated a middle-ground, sending me a replacement frame face for a nominal fee. 6) The replacement works fine, but is obviously not new, as it has several scratches. That is not a problem to me, as this is an older pair of glasses. The bottom line is that I'm happy with the result, although it was not a smooth transaction.

Just as a quick note to mention the nose pads are not simple nosepads. They are PART of the embedded area in the face of the frame. We made the mistake of not knowing this very important part of information when he was given a preliminary estimate. We corrected the problem as the customer indicated and went from our normal $78 for the face of the frame to only $25 to make the customer happy. Indeed this was a very NON smooth transaction and out of the 1,000 we had only this month, we only had a very few of these go bad. In the eyewear repair business this a good statistic.
