The federal form was easy to enter. However, getting charged for a SC return when other states are free is quite the downer. I went to another free service that allowed me to download the SC form, print and send it. So 1980s!

It sounds like you did not use E-file.com for this and thus we would be unable to provide you with additional assistance for printing out your return. If you know which program/website you used we would be happy to try to assist you with contacting them. I am very sorry that you had confusion with this. This company is an absolute gross scammy waste of time. Do NOT even bother trying to "Efile" your taxes for free. I literally have the most basic, simple taxes to file possible and they automatically tacked on 3 upgrade packages for $30 each and took them out of my refund. They need to be shut down

For clarification, we do offer free federal filing for those who qualify for our basic software, in your instance you had two forms with your return that are not included with our basic software, so the system upgraded you. These forms had to do with credits that you were eligible for. I am very sorry for any confusion with this. Now, you mentioned an additional upgrade, I believe what you are referring to is the option to pay for our tax software with the proceeds of your refund rather than a credit/debit card. When you select to pay with your refund, the refund goes to a third-party financial institution, when the financial institution receives the taxpayer's refund, they pay us for the software and deposit the balance to the customer. There is a service fee that is charged by the financial institution when selecting this option. There is no fee when paying with a credit/debit card. I'm sorry you were not able to use our free basic software, please let us know if you have any additional questions or need any additional assistance from us.

Supposed to be free. It started out free. When I got to the end they wanted to Charge me for the Deluxe. I thought I might have hit the wrong button and had to go back and start all over again. And it happened again. So I did my taxes on taxact.com. Do not recommend.Taxact was 100% FREE FEDERAL.

I do apologize for any confusion with this. It looks like you did qualify for our free basic version last year and were able to use our software completely free of charge to prepare your 2022 return. This year, however, you included distributions in your filing information that are not supported with our free Basic software, so in order to continue using E-file.com you would have needed to use our Deluxe software. Now, it sounds like you were able to use another program to prepare this return, that is good to hear. Their free version may have slightly different eligibility requirements than ours. Something to keep in mind, however, the software that you mentioned does charge nearly twice as much for their Deluxe software as we do for ours and also considerably more for their state filing software. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

I have E-filed my taxes for several years, and I find that it is the easiest system to use. I am 83 and like doing my own taxes, the E-file system is a no stress system

The system in this Software, made filing so much easier for my, as I did not have any deductions this year. I tried to include them in Previous years with the block, and with the other popular websites and the Returns got rejected every time for the past 4 years. I have learned a vital lesson in using those. Efile is here for me, and those other's are not your trustworthy filers!
