You posted this for the wrong website/service. We are www.E-file.com, and do not charge $34.95 to file an extension (the fee for this is far less on our website and includes free software to prepare a 1040). Please double check your confirmation emails/credit card receipts and move this review to the correct company. Thank you. **ABOUT THIS REVIEW** TrustPilot does not verify that reviews are from actual customers. Company has no record of this individual having used their service.

I am very sorry for the trouble with this. What you have described here are notices from the IRS after they have already accepted and acknowledged the returns. In 2024 it sounds like the IRS sent you a letter requesting you to verify your identity before your refund could be released. In 2025 it sounds like the IRS sent you a letter requesting documentation relating to the new overtime deduction. The IRS sometimes requests this sort of verification information to help prevent against fraud and/or overpayment. When they do this, they do not include the tax software provider in the communication (no matter where the return is prepared or transmitted). Once the tax return has been filed and acknowledged, no further information is provided to the software provider. It would only be directed to the taxpayer.

I am very sorry for any confusion with this. Here is what I can see from your account: It appears that you originally qualified for our Basic software and filed for free. Then, once you needed to amend this return, there was a $39.99 charge (this is the cost for our amended tax software). Unfortunately, the form that you added to your filing (a 1099-C) is not covered with the original software that you used or by the amended software, and thus you were upgraded to our Premium software which covers this form. The cost for this was $49.99. Again, I apologize for the confusion with this. As a courtesy, we have gone ahead and refunded you the fee for our Premium Software ($49.99 + tax). Please let us know if you have any further questions or need any further assistance.

I am sorry if you felt your refund should have been higher. This is what you were owed based on the information that you entered and the current tax laws. We guarantee the accuracy of the calculations. We do rely on the accuracy of the information that the taxpayer enters. Based on the information that you entered, you were due roughly $250. This was communicated to you prior to filing your return and you proceeded with filing. I do not see any support requests or questions related to your refund on your account. I apologize if you were hoping for a larger refund but this is what you were due based on the information that you entered.

It appears that your first transmission was rejected because the information that you entered did not match IRS records and thus, to protect against fraud, the IRS required you to correct and retransmit it. There was no additional fee to correct and retransmit this return. We looked at your account and it appeared as though you manually added our amended tax return software and when you were correcting your return paid for this as well, this resulted in the second charge that you mentioned. Amended tax return software is used if you need to modify a tax return after it has already been accepted by the IRS. You do not need to amend your return if you are correcting and retransmitting a return that was initially rejected. I do apologize if you thought you had to amend your tax return in order to retransmit it. If you do not plan to use the amended return software, we can certainly refund you, simply contact our support team from within your account and let them know that you accidently purchased this. Support can also assist you with obtaining a copy of your tax return. I’m not sure exactly why you are having trouble downloading a copy but it does look like you are using outdated versions of the Windows and Firefox browsers so this could be causing the problem.

You are correct, we do charge for our state income tax software. We charge $29.99. This can be found on the home/index page of the website. The price we charge for our state income tax software is significantly less expensive than most other tax software providers who typically charge anywhere from $40-$55 for their tax software. We do our best to keep all our software prices as affordable as possible. Thank you.
