I moved from a 3 bedroom with central heat and air and my bill was around 150 a month now I'm living in a 1 bedroom no central air or heat and my bill is around 240 a month make it make sense Duke Energy because the math isn't mathing!!!!!

My Nov bill is due 12/27/24. I received my Dec bill 12/20/24 saying it is due 1/14/25 and includes the amount not due until 12/27/24. I called Duke & spoke to 3 people, including a supervisor, to ask why my due date went from the 27th to the 14th, a difference of a little over 2 weeks. Was told the cycle changed due to # of days in the month. Makes no sense since the months have only a difference of 1 day! I was also told if I do not pay Nov by 12/27, will get a late fee. So on 1/14/25, I have to deduct the Nov bill from the Dec bill before paying. I think this is outrageous that I don’t have a date I can assume to be accurate for each month’s bill. I am on SS and a strict budget. Paying a bill 2 weeks later is a burden! I suspect my Jan bill will be due in the month of January making me pay them 2 times in one month, which is not acceptable.

Someone created an account with them using my email address. I have asked them repeatedly to remove my email address from their system, but I am ignored. This has been going on for years, and I still get this person’s bills.

My bill spiked from 161.00 to 800.00 in one month. I found out a faulty AC unit is the culprit. When I called Duke to see if they could waive some of the fees they told me no way. I was told to login in EVERY day and check my usage. Like anyone has time for that. Duke sends me emails every month for the last 20 years about how they value my business but they don't have time to tell me I'm using too much energy. By the time I got my bill I was already 6 weeks into the over usage. So my next bill will also be excessive. They don't have to care because it's a monopoly. I only have one choice for power. What a scam. Dukes reviews are horrible on every site. With ratings this low someone needs to step in and address this as there is obviously a big problem.

Big rip off monopoly

I received promotional material from Duke Energy's referral partner program, including for attic insulation, promising a $250 Duke Energy rebate if doing that. I registered for that and immediately received multiple contractor sales calls. I scheduled the 4 free estimates and selected the most cost-effective one (from Standard Insulating Company). After the work was completed, I was told that I would NOT be eligible for the Duke Energy rebate since my attic insulation, while below the current R-38 new construction requirements, was above the R-19 threshold required for the rebate. The company claims they verbally communicated this to me, although I do NOT remember that, and it was definitely NOT included in the proposal. I called Duke Energy today to confirm their policy - and to complain. While the representative was courteous, she did dive into the "legalese" disclaimers that their rebate program requirements are listed on their web site. My ultimate level of satisfaction with this program went from positive to NEGATIVE and I would NOT recommend it to friends or family. It is MISLEADING at best.

I trusted Duke Energy to perform work near my field in Haines City, Florida, after being assured by their Senior Engineer, Michael Dobbs, that there would be no damage. Despite my warnings about the unsuitable terrain, on March 11, 2023, I discovered that my gate was cut and my field was destroyed by their machinery. This negligence forced me to close my business( RJ Hinson Sports), relocate, and endure significant financial losses. Although Duke Energy initially promised to resolve the issue, they have failed to take responsibility or offer compensation. Their lack of accountability has caused immense frustration and stress, making it clear that they do not support small businesses as they claim.

I would not give the company one star but I had to do it the review. My lights are still off which is unacceptable. The lights in my area have been off since 7:30 am. Duke Energy is the worst company ever! The weather is not bad in my area to the point that they can repair the issue. My experience with this horrible is company!!!
