Duke energy came out after I reported in a survey that all of my lights often flicker so badly that I can't turn on any laps because I'm afraid it'll give my 2 year old a seizure. They then proceed to dig a neck deep hole in my yard and they accidentally severed my internet line. I was out of work for a week and a half due to their incompetence. I work from home with my baby so I lost significant income, and they are basically stone walling me and refusing to correct their error or make me whole. All I'm asking is for them to compensate me the lost wages ON MY CURRENT ENERGY BILL. I lost client accounts and a raise due to duke energy. Not to mention, nothing is every their problem. I'm alone, trying to keep my lights on for my toddler, meanwhile duke is so expensive. Did I mention the CONSTANT power outages? I hope Clearwater votes for another electric company. Can't say that will help me for sure, but It'll make me feel better that there are less citizens whose lives they can hurt. If I could give 0 stars I would. Also, their claims company, Sedgwick & FH Contractors, particularly Stephen (Mark) Head who I spoke too...absolutely useless and unprofessional.

I called to ask a question about my moms account (she has passed). I asked a yes or no question and the representative kept repeating their standard response. I finally had to get mad to get my question answered. Absolutely ridiculous! I wish I could switch companies.

Having an anxiety disorder, I view my home as my only true safe space. I also work from home as a tenured professor. I walked into my backyard today to find some men in my backyard. They told me they worked for Duke Energy, although no one had identification. I later found out they were contracted Asplundah manual workers paid by Duke Energy. No one rang my doorbell or knocked on my door to let me know they needed to get into my backyard to inspect for vegetation maintenance around the electrical lines. They just let themselves in. I was more than surprised. I was absolutely terrified when these men came around the vegetation when I expected no one to be there (except perhaps squirrels and birds). For a moment, I thought I was being attacked. They completely blew off my fear and just told me they have a right to be there and offered a pitiful, half-hearted "sorry" for not bothering to let the homeowner know they would be in my backyard. I called Duke Corporate to report this incident and they didn't care one bit. They are insensitive and disgusting. Shame on you all. All you had to do was try to muster some modicum of professionalism and come to my door to inform me in advance. Not even a decent apology for frightening me and disrupting my work.

I've lived in an area where only Duke Energy is available for most of my life---for the last 30 years. There has been a continuous problem with infrastructure where any wind storm brings down power. They will slapdash fixes and never come back. They won't come out to cut limbs off of powerlines and if they do they'll leave the limbs and debris. They even left most of a tree ON TOP of my friend's house. Like... just let it fall on the house and then left it there as though us residential people can do anything about it. Brownouts happen every holiday, every summer, every winter. And yet they keep charging more and more and more money. Where is that money going? Certainly not back to the people who pay them. Not to the infrastructure. It's very clearly lining the pockets of whoever owns that company. I can't afford to pay much more money and it's not like paying more gives me better service or higher quality----so what's the rate hike FOR?

Duke energy will provide power to anyone, without any proof of residency. Due to Duke not requiring proof of residency, like a lease, they provided power to squatters in my home for months. These people had no lease or other paperwork showing that they were legally residing in the home. When the squatters were discovered, Duke refused to provide the name of the person whom the service was provided for. Even to the Sherriff. So, squatters destroyed my house, and without so much as a question, Duke provided the power for them to do so....

I use to think Duke was a passable energy company but not anymore. Notice the constant rate increases? Check this out... DUKE CEO Lynn Good salary 2021--14M *2022--21M* I recommend you research the website and you will find they give out 20k grants(free money) to NGO's who disperse YOUR money to people in this country illegally. Duke had the nerve to send out emails asking people to donate money to help others pay for energy costs. WHAT? How about the CEO donate HER wealth and lower the cost where it is affordable for ALL citizens! Please contact Duke, your energy commissioner and Governor DeSantis and file a formal complaint. This is absolutely appaling and unethical on every level!!! PS. I'm a Florida resident where it gets 95 plus degrees! UPDATE: Power outages on a HOT day. This is what commie companies do when you speak the TRUTH!!!!

People you have to realize Duke Energy are crooks I live in Cabarrus county I moved out of my senior citizen complex June 30 I distinctly call Duke energy on 15 June and receive a confirmation to disconnect my service on June 30. August I received a bill stating that I owe Duke Energy after the date I moved out of my apartment I contacted DUKE I stated to them, I use the Internet to disconnect, and I also called to disconnect they intern is charging me for time that I was not in the apartment and the apartment was empty during that time the maintenance had to go into my apartment and touch it up for the next person that moved in so my electricity was being used by the maintenance. In the meantime, the senior citizen building is on by GEM I called the office and explain to them that I had moved out. They knew it and I was being charge for days that I was not in the apartment. Well let’s get back to Duke Energy . I have talked to supervisors on three different occasions. I called back I spoke to another 3 different supervisors and they said that I will be charged because they saw nothing. That stated I had disconnected the service. Senior be Aware! Companies are making up for losses due to 3 years of COVID……
