URGENT! Do NOT close no matter what until you are certain on your final walkthrough that the home is “perfect” as it should be considering you are likely paying possibly a half million or more for your home. I bought In Aventura in Gulf Shores. Make sure you are certain to hire a home inspector that knows to thoroughly check out every square inch and you check it out too. Concentrate on plumbing, electrical, and all finish work. Also concentrate on the foundation, including it is uneven. Otherwise they will not stand behind their work and you will have to fix everything on your own. This is a warning that I ignored from other reviews… I beg you, for your sake, don’t ignore what I’m telling you. Do not trust them. I know you need to move in, but rent a hotel until everything is perfect or you will be very sorry and upset. Otherwise you are destined for heartache and additional expense.

I purchased a home in Rocky Mount, NC off of Old Spring Hope Rd. I have been in my home a year and a half. The builders were supposed to come back in a year to fix any concerns and nail pops. No one came back after my year was up. The house was rushed being built therefore they didn't give the house time to settle so the nail pops in the wall wouldn't occur. The bathroom fixtures from the walls (tissue holder towel holder is coming out of the wall. Then my closets have no lights in them, but you have to switches in everyone room. The only closet that has a lot is the master bedroom. My doorknobs are coming off left to right the stair rail has even been reported because it came out of the wall. Another builder informed me that it wasn't placed in the wall right to begin with. The HOA is terrible when it comes to being professional. I have had complaints about my dogs being on a leash and me violating due to them not being leashed up in the perimeter of the yard. So therefore, I am even limited when it comes to where the dogs are leashed in my own yard remind you they are small house dogs. I would not advise anyone to purchase a home from D.R. Horton I am currently working on saving for my second home without the HOA being involved. Worst decision you can ever make to purchase a home with a HOA that tells you what to do in your own yard and you are still responsible for cutting your own grass. What am I paying you for? To tell me what to do own a house I'm paying on that I own. Worst mistake ever I should have waited patiently instead of taking this route to become a house owner. Will be selling within the next couple of years.

Our experience with D.R. Horton started off well we thought we had found our dream home in Ridgedale Heights in Johnston IA, we were excited to be able to move into a brand new beautiful home however, on our second walkthrough we noticed a concerning amount of imperfections within the finish of the house... like the cabinets in the kitchen were damaged they had scratches all over them and they even attempted to paint over some of the damage, however, you could see the uneven paint color and the backsplash was improperly placed it was uneven and the grout was coming off the counters weren't aligned with the wall this was just the kitchen in the upstairs bedrooms all the carpet was cut short of the base and you could easily see the gap between the base and the carpet the tiles in the bathroom and laundry room was crooked and the door frames were too short from the floor so you could see under the doors they were also uneven and mostly all the doors had some sort of damage scratches, bumps, etc. even the front door wouldnt properly close the most important door in the house didnt even work properly. We wanted to back out from purchasing the home as we did not feel comfortable purchasing it we talked to the D.R. Horton representative to cancel the contract by this point we had already given them a 5,000 dollar check for them to finish the basement after bringing up these issues we were told we had to talk with contractors to walk with them throughout the home and explain to them why we were backing out we were also told that after we met with these contractors that we would have a 5,000 dollar check refunded they did NOT start any work on the basement so our money was still in their hands once we had explained to the contractor's everything they AGREED with us that the house was IMPROPERLY FINISHED and STILL REFUSED TO REFUND OUR 5,000 dollars we felt like they were obligating us to buy a 400,000 dollar home with an awful finish they told us everything we had an issue with was fixable however if the visible finish is horrific imagine the inside of these homes its not something a person buying a brand new home should have to deal with thats the entire point of buying a new home not having to deal with any maintenece within the house and why as a buyer should I have to tell them how to properly finish a brand new home. It was very stressful having to restart the buying home process after being absolutely robbed of 5,000 dollars of our hard-earned money.

Dear DR Horton Management Team, Our walk through for the home was very informal as the Superintendent is very detailed in explaining the overall operations of the home. During the handover, he noted several items in the home that would be corrected or completed due to weather permitting. Such as the exterior painting of the trim around the garage doors and the front main door. Adjustments with the SOD would be also corrected due to the storm water drainage inspection from the municipality. He also helped in adjusting in the home and made some minor repairs during our punch lists. Furthermore, DR Horton sales representative helped us throughout the overall experience in purchasing a home, as he explained the expectations and steps that will be taken including gaining our trust as this was our first time in purchasing a home along with it being a cash transaction. We had a home built by DR Horton in 2021 in North Ft Myers Florida. We liked the area where the homes were being built, and the model home was beautiful. We hired an inspector to do the walkthrough since we live in another state. The inspector found issues in the home, but items on the list seemed to be easily addressed. Once we came to Florida for the winter, and settled in we started submitting warranty via Hortons website based of inspection list. The warranty department and their vendors are not on top of it at all. The vendors never call to set appointments up for repairs, or if they did set a date & Time they never showed up. Here we are 1 1/2 years later, and seems as though Horton doesn't want to be bothered and fix the last 2 items on the warranty list. Nonetheless, they're not a quality builder period! They hire help that doesn't know what they're doing and they do sloppy work. The walls aren't even remotely close to being level, interior doors were bowed, we have 2 different colors of grout in the tile floors' grout cracked in the spare bathroom, Sliding door wasn't in right, and bugs coming in from outside the top and bottom of sliding door, bathtub had a rusted bottom, and tub was scratched which I assume the contractors were cleaning their tools in the bathtub, or the tub was simply a used tub, and broken dining room window If you haver high expectations you're not going to find it with this builder. Fortunately, in our community we had the least of the problems, and many homes were worse than ours. All I can say is run away from this builder, and research & INVEST your hard earned money in a builder who cares about quality not QUANTITY.

Bought a home in 2016 near Chicago from D.R. Horton (Cambridge), and had very few issues! Moved to Tennessee, near Johnson City, and bought my Second D.R. Horton Home in 2022. CAUTION! D.R. Horton here is not the same as in the North! Too many issues! Plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, even a cracked window! It appears D.R. Horton has lost their direction and no longer cares about the final product - just the money! Although they have a warranty department - Most of these issues should have been discovered, and CORRECTED long before closing! When inexperienced drywallers do not possess the knowledge to hide seams and leave huge bulges in the walls, it is unacceptable. Combine this with ghost doors (they close themselves) poor wiring, drains that burp, the worst final landscaping in the world, trim that has protruding but painted-over nails, and shower glass which is falling from the frame - the jury is in! Repair crews can't speak English, which goes to prove who is being hired at LOW PAY, and as we all know - you get what you pay for! Unfortunately for others and myself - WE paid Top Dollar to pay for a home built by construction imbeciles!

O bought a brand new home with a Dr Horton After 3 years is like a trash house Carpet is bad , title is cracking every where caused by cheap material and poor installation, roof bad , shingles flow out and damage the roof caused poor installation, Poor service They don’t do nothing to help , never again buy home from this builder

Do not buy from this company unless you want to deal with endless about of hardship because of them. We didn't get far in the buying process with them because they messed up on taking the earnest money from us. Long story short we are having a nightmare of a time getting thousands of dollars back into our account because someone in their office gave us bad information. That told us right there we shouldn't buy from this company. I'm doing my part and trying to help the next person coming behind us so this doesn't happen to them.
