The worse mistake I ever made. I purchased a DR Horton home in 2013 how they pass inspection floors me. Never ever ever ever ever ever by a DR Horton home. Theyre trash.
Answer the damn phone when someone calls I have 5 years of unanswered and un return calls from day 1. You can't sue them they will price you out. But Baldwin County Alabama got them in a class action suit.

THE WORST
Awful. Avoid at all costs. I am filing a complaint against DR Horton about the poor quality of finish work done in my home and lack of empathy and assistance from the area manager and warranty team. I have never been so frustrated in my life as I have been trying to get things in my home fixed. I’ve been trying for over a year to get issues resolved and it seems like no one cares. DR Horton was happy to take my money and has left me with a mess. The vendors that have shown up to fix punch list items a YEAR later do not speak English and there is no one to translate and assist with explaining what needs to be done. My husband and I have taken multiple days off work to be home for vendors that end up not showing up or can’t actually complete the work as requested. The quality of the work that has been done is extremely sub par. DR Horton should be ashamed of the work they are putting out. I want to express how devastating it is to work so hard and spend so much money on a home that is not up to standard. There are some warranty items that we have asked to have fixed and have simply been told “no fix”. I will never recommend DR Horton to anyone and, in fact, have warned so many people against using DRH when purchasing their home. Unsure where to go from here but I needed to expressed my extreme anger and dissatisfaction.

This company is GARBAGE
This company is GARBAGE, my 80 year old grandmother bought a new home about a year ago and has had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. Her door knobs have fallen off, the dirt and debris they left are washing out from under the driveway, they didn’t even finish installing the clean-out and just left 4 inch pipe stubbed out open to the sewer line in her yard, the bricks literally fell off the side of the porch cause her to fall, the water lines are backwards, and many other issues. The warranty department sits there and makes excuses and does NOTHING. I own my own company and luckily have been there to fix their LAZY AND CONSTANT screw ups. Now her drive way is eroding from beneath and their response is “oh well it’s out of warranty”. This is of course after we have been trying for months to get it corrected while under warranty. DR HORTON also came and REMOVED my grandmothers shutters because “she wasn’t supposed to have them” and left several large holes in the brick. We are reaching out to the local news station who have set up an appointment with us. My father is also a very big realtor in escambia and Santa Rosa counties and we will be urging any clients and other realtors to steer clear of any new construction with a DR HORTON name…and just to clarify several members in mine and my wife’s family have purchased DR HORTON homes and they have been trash. Not to mention the MANY MANY other customers who call me to fix DR HORTON CRAP. I honestly have no idea how you are still in business but I hope you aren’t much longer. I will be on here and every other page I can find EVERY DAY to give them a 1 star rating until this is fixed. DR HORTON YOU ARE ABSOLUTE TRASH!! YOU SUCK!!

In my experience
In my experience, DR Horton's customer service has been Abysmal. This is a huge problem for a company who claims to be "America's Largest Homebuilder". I was frustrated and let down (i.e., lack of attention to detail) by my home's superintendent. Initially, I had positive experiences with the construction manager and the warranty team, but that was short lived; I would say to them "mean what you say and say what you mean". Several times, I attempted to meet with the construction manager, so I could have a face-to-face meeting and communicate my concerns, and that person never attempted to fit me into their schedule. DR Horton sends out (many) surveys throughout the process and I've always provided thorough and candid feedback. I never received a follow-up from anyone regarding my feedback. Does DR Horton even care? There seems to be poor internal and external communication. In terms of managing expectations, one group told me the home building process would take 4-6 months to complete. My home was built in less than 3-months. This was great, except for the fact I had to pay 3-months of rent and mortgage. Also, my final walkdown "Homeowner Orientation" was a disaster. The house was dirty, work was still occurring, and there were MANY findings. Clearly the home was not ready for this milestone. The only thing DR Horton cared about was "closing" before the end of April. I love my Aria style home and the fact that I got it much less than comparable used homes in the area; however, as I look back at all the stress, pain, and added expenses, I got what I paid for...
For DR Horton folks who read this, please take time to review customer survey feedback and make the home buying process better for your customers.
For prospective/future DR Horton customers, I hope you find this review helpful. I hope your home buying experience is better than mine, the above feedback educates you, and you can avoid these same pains.

If I could give them a zero for…
If I could give them a zero for customer service I would. I purchased a new home March 31st, 2022. They have a maintenance agreement for 1 year. I am still waiting on several things to be fixed. I needed to threaten legal actions to get anything done. Also, the supervisor on the job is rude and unfriendly to work with. I live at Northgate in Veridian in Schaumburg, IL.

If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would! Do not build a home with DR Horton. They are the worst!! I built a new home and closed February 2021 and it’s been a nightmare. Customer service is horrible and the builder is disrespectful. I’ve had problems with my roof, flooring, hot water tank, and water running down the front of my home on my brick. They will not honor the warranty. Neighbors in my community have had similar problems. Buy from DRH only if you are desperate and want to put a lot more money into your home. They do not build quality homes and they treat homeowners like trash after closing.

Exasperating experiences…
We’ve had two exasperating experiences with DR Horton. The first was in March when the salesperson at Twin Lakes in Hocshton, GA informed us of incentives that seemingly changed on a dime. Of course, those incentives changed after we got prequalified on a mortgage, which requires a hard pull on your credit. The second was at the Enclave at Baker’s Farm, also in Hoschton, where the salesperson gave us a price on a home/lot but told us we couldn’t purchase it until the company released the lot. Again, we got prequalified as she suggested. The lot was released a week later at a price that was $5,000 more than she originally told us. The salesperson gave us a window of three hours (on a workday) to place an offer and then – when she had no offers – she extended it to 1 p.m. the next day. At first she told our Realtor that the lower price was never the price of the lot, then she said that “corporate” raised the prices, but the was the first raise since March – as if that would make us feel better. The narrative appears to change frequently with these salespeople, who then deflect to “corporate.” We walked from both opportunities, soured by the sleezy sales tactics of this company.
