They Have Great Customer Service - Issues Always Get Resolved Quickly And Efficiently With No Runaround or Red Tape
UPDATE: I changed the review from 4 to 5 stars today, because their customer service is always so good. I've had so many experiences with companies that talk in circles and give the runaround to keep from actually resolving a problem that I'm thrilled that every time I call Dollar Tree it is apparent from the beginning that they are going to help. In resolving this problem, I did have one rude service center work I talked to as I tried to get in touch with the people who were helping me, but when the people who helped me found out about that they were super apologetic and bent over backwards even more than they usually do to get the situation resolved for me. I spoke with a manager named Chantel who was just a blessing in how polite and kind she was as well as how efficient she was in getting the problem resolved. It is now resolved and I'm so happy with the way it was all handled, especially by Chantel. I still wish mail to home orders went more smoothly and I hope someone from Dollar Tree sees this and works on that, but everything else is so good with this company that I can't give them anything less than 5 Stars. ORIGINAL POST: I would love to give them a 5 star review, because I love this store and shop there a lot. It's such a treat to get things for $1, now $1.25, and the quality is good. I see a lot of negative reviews, but in Cincinnati where I live the stores are wonderful and clean and the employees are mostly nice. The only problem I have with them is onling ordering when you have it shipped to your house. If at all possible, I recommend having your online purchases shipped to the store for pick up. I only purchase ship to home when that is the only option I have (some things don't have the option of shipping to store) and when it's something I can't buy in the store that I want enough that I'm willing to take the risk that there will be a big mess to clean up when I choose ship to home. Every time I order ship to home things are packaged horribly and get damaged if they are at all fragile. As one example, last summer I bought a case of glass (not plastic but glass) gnomes and all they did when they shipped them was slap a mailing label on the flimsy display box. When they arrived, they were demolished - all broken into a million pieces. When I called to report this, they were very nice and immediately reimbursed me for the purchase - their customer service has so far been good - but I wanted the merchandise and instead got a headache to clean up. This month, I ordered some of the Valentines Day Dream Chenille Yarn. Even though it wasn't fragile, they again put a mailing label on the display box and the box got ripped up before it got to me and some of the yarn spilled out. In addition, I ordered 2 cases of the yarn and they only sent me 1 - so between the short ship and the damaged box I received less than half of what I paid for. In addition, I never received any of the emails telling me when the yarn was shipped and it continued to show up as In Process when I checked it online. The employee who handled this order not only sent out 1 case when 2 had been ordered, but they didn't update the account to show that it had been mailed and to take the money off hold in my account and actually pay for the items. The person I spoke with to try to get this resolved wanted to refund the money for the second case even though I wanted the second case. She told me that I would have to accept the refund and re-order the item, but it had gone out of stock since I originally ordered it. The warehouse worker who only sent 1 case when I ordered 2 really messed me up as I need both cases to do the project I wanted to do. Then, they discovered the warehouse worker hadn't even released the funds to pay for my items, so they obviously couldn't refund the money - and now I'm sitting here in limbo trying to get the banking issue resolved in a way that assures I only pay for what I actually received (1 case instead of 2). I have no idea how long that will take and have no idea if when the funds are released if they'll release the amount for 2 cases, which will leave me with another mess to clean up since I only received 1 case. My personal feeling is that if it ships to store then there is a store manager checking the order so that there are checks and balances so then it gets to you correctly, but I feel like the warehouse workers know there are no checks and balances if it mails to your home so they are extremely careless. I've never had an order shipped to my home that didn't end up being a big problem I had to resolve. If Dollar Tree 1) cleaned up their ship to home so that things were packaged properly for safe mailing as well as updated in the computer correctly, and 2) mail out missing items rather than refunding and making you order again - then I'd give them a 5 star plus rating as I'm pleased with everything except their mail to home option when you order online.
