This company needs to be shut down horrible horrible customer service horrible people.
Scam scam scam!!!!! I’m going to make this short and simple. I went through this company to get my daughter cheaper insurance for her new vehicle that I had just bought her. As everyone knows life happens and of course she totaled the vehicle. This insurance company did not put her as a rated driver. They put her as restricted . I understand half of it was my fault for not paying attention and doing my research on insurance companies. I paid them all over $700 within one month. I know it was either intentional or a clinical error on the representative. I spoke with .I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before, and I just want everyone to know if they’ve had to file claims and are going through the same issues as I am file a complaint with the national general of Washington and Better Business Bureau .

These people been over charging me for a few years now, I haven’t had a ticket in 15 years, went to progressive and there charging me 1/2 of what they was plus I have more coverage, and they want to charge me for a whole month, when I cancelled, I asked why they said it was a cancellation fee. These people are such ripoffs.

Avoid Direct Auto / National General
Avoid Direct Auto / National General: Deceptive Billing, Product Packing, and Document Forgery
Direct Auto and their issuing agency engaged in systematic bad-faith practices, billing deception, and document fabrication to siphon funds from my account:
* Criminal Forgery in the First Degree (ORS § 165.013 — Class C Felony): When I canceled my policy and questioned unauthorized fee deductions, a representative produced a standalone DocuSign contract (Envelope ID: 87589e0f-e583-46ba-84f0-406a368b78de) bearing a computer-generated cursive signature and automated verification codes (Adc290654Signature / Sac2271063405). I was never emailed this DocuSign envelope, never provided electronic consent, and never executed it, while the designated seller signature lines were left blank. Under ORS § 165.013, creating or uttering a falsely made commercial contract that affects legal rights or financial obligations constitutes first-degree forgery.
* Criminal Identity Theft (ORS § 165.800 — Class C Felony): The agency used my personal identifying information—including my legal name, home address, and VIN—without my authorization to bind separate commercial contracts (Nation Safe Drivers policies 2035650827 and 2035650828) to justify fee deductions. Under ORS § 165.800, using another person's personal identification or electronic signature to deceive or defraud is identity theft.
* Federal E-SIGN Act Violations (15 U.S.C. § 7001) & Oregon UETA (ORS § 84.001–84.069): Under state and federal law, an electronic contract is void if it lacks affirmative consumer consent, direct delivery to the consumer's inbox, and a verifiable audit trail linking the IP address to the signer.
* Unlawful Product Packing (ORS § 746.240): When I purchased auto insurance, I declined roadside coverage. My binding Oregon Personal Auto Declarations Page strictly lists basic liability, PIP, and UMPD coverage—roadside assistance does not appear on my schedule of coverages. Despite this, they created auxiliary non-insurance contracts to inflate charges and deduct money from my unearned premium.
* Predatory Billing & Fee Stacking: Direct Auto ran unauthorized electronic drafts against an unapproved bank account to trigger synthetic NSF penalties, stacked two $35 NSF charges ($70 total), removed agreed discounts to spike payments up to $450/month, and improperly deducted a $50 cancellation fee plus $292.87 in unearned premium. Out of an $887.67 refund owed, they issued only $428.40—unlawfully withholding $459.27.
* Dodging Accountability: When confronted directly on a recorded line regarding the forged DocuSign document and billing discrepancies, the representative asked if the call was being recorded and dumped me into the hold queue.
All evidence—including the forged DocuSign PDF, billing breakdowns, bank statements, and policy declarations—has been submitted to the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation (DFR), the Oregon Department of Justice Consumer Protection Division, and financial institutions for formal fraud investigations. Avoid this company at all costs.

My daughter was hit by a Direct Auto…
My daughter was hit by a Direct Auto customer and trying to get the claim resolved has been horrible, even though my daughter has all the driver’s information. The claim adjuster, Laura, has received multiple voicemails from my daughter, and she has not returned any of them. It has been nearly a year since the accident and I am now helping my daughter get this resolved because she cannot get hold of a live human. This is completely unacceptable customer service and this company should be ashamed. The one good interaction I had was with Marisol. She needs to run this pathetic company.
