I’m giving you fair warning don’t get insured by direct auto. All they care about is getting your money. If you need them for anything you’re out of luck. And when you’ve had enough and cancel they’ll send you a bill for $50 or more. They suck!!

I call in to make my pmts and this time they charged me twice.. That is my bill money so I expected an instant refund to my card and they said no. They said I would get a check in 7 to 10 day. Now I don't have enough money to pay my other bill and I will be charged a late fee because of direct. This is not right!!! If they can take it right away then they can give it back right away. But nooooo! I will be dropping them before my next pmt is due...

This place promises a bunch of stuff then as typical as soon as you need it suddenly you have no coverage

Bad experience with this car insurance company. I own the vehicle, and my husband had an accident with someone that is insured with them. After about two and a half to three weeks, finally got a claim number and the adjuster's name, this man never answered his phone or returned my calls, so I started calling his supervisor, he finally returned my calls after two weeks, and called me back maybe two times after that. They've also given the towing company the run around, and just paid them last week. To sum it up, today makes seventy nine days (car was totaled), and today is the first time they've said anything about compensation (Total loss department), and they want to pay me $500 for loss of use days, but it's been seventy nine days and the law says they have to pay for each day that you are without your car up until they compensate you. I wouldn't advise anyone looking for car insurance to go to them. I give them ZERO stars.

My current insurance ends on 1/8/23 and on 1/3/23 I went online searching for a cheaper quote. I checked with Direct Auto and had put down that I was financing my car, I would need FULL COVERAGE to do this. They gave me a quote which I agreed with. The next morning, I e-signed everything and paid my down payment. Later that day, I was speaking with one of my customers that used to work fir Direct and she advised me to double check my policy to ensure it was what I wanted. I called Direct on 1/4/23 and found out that they had given me LIABILITY. I had future started my policy to take affect on 1/7/23. I told them that was wrong and my policy was canceled. I was told the money would go back on my card within 48 hours. 2 days later, no money. I needed that money to get insurance through a different company. I called and was told I would have the money that day. Later that afternoon, no money. I called and was informed that they messed up and did not submit my dispute form needed to return my money. I told them that I NEEDED my money that day to avoid a loose in coverage which would cause my rates to increase. This is the morning of Saturday 1/7/23 and still no money. I spoke with several attorneys yesterday and have found one to take my case. I am suing them for neglect, loss of wages for the increase in my policy since a lapse has occurred, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and whatever else we can come up with. They have screwed the wrong person. I am not one to sit idly by and do nothing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF COMPANY!!!

I would not recommend this insurance company. I am currently in the process of changing from Direct Auto. You are 'required' to accept their roadside assistance when you sign up at about $11 a month. You only have 30 days to cancel that or you are stuck with it, However when you pay $100 for a wrecker service to unlock your car they only send you a $50 reimbursement. They charge twice as much as AAA Texas for roadside assistance. After paying $264 for roadside assistance (that I had never used previously). They sent me a $50 reimbursement for a $100 charge. So their 'roadside assistance' has cost me $314. This is why I'm changing insurance.
