If I could give zero stars I would, it’s wild how predatory they are with their marketing and were very condescending when I contacted them to stop sending me letters. I hope they go out of business, the reviews I’ve seen of other people’s experience with them gives me hope that it’ll actually happen.

They told me I needed to return a form by 8.22, and I did. I was still charged a fee, after talking to several agents and the even manager for over an hour that could have waived the fee, they ended up charging me more. The manager also almost excluded my son as a driver of his own car putting my family at a huge risk. I was told they also have no corporate number to provide.

So here's the deal, I've had an auto policy with Direct Auto for about 2 years. I found a much cheaper rate with State Farm. I call to cancel my policy with Direct Auto and they charge me $50.00 for a cancellation fee! Is this even legal? My policy was current and my next payment wasn't due for about 2 more weeks! I consider this nothing short of being crooked!

Giving one star is far too much for this company. I paid them almost 4,000 back in May only to get a refund check in June saying I do not have full coverage on my Escalade, they took care of things, I get another refund check on Aug 19 for the same reason and did not have full coverage on my Escalade since Aug 7th. If you really want to have insurance on your vehicle do not give this company ANY money. State Farm sold me full coverage policy for both of my vehicles for the same price.

I was with this company for a year and had no issues at first. The website isn't very friendly as I couldn't add or update vehicles once I bought my policy but the chat feature worked so I had to use that to make changes. I was set for my 3rd policy renewal and all of a sudden got a notice that my premium was being raised by $600. Without my knowledge and without my asking them to, they added my daughter to the policy. I immediately inquired with the chat as to why she was added without my knowledge and the response was well we sent you a letter 2 weeks ago saying if you didn't respond, that they would automatically add her. I informed them I never got a letter or I would have responded saying no. I canceled my policy with them over this and after it was canceled, they said I still had a bill. They were backdating the bill for adding her to my policy. I said I shouldn't have to pay it and even emailed to customer service and they came back saying well you never responded so this bill stands. WTF. How can a company back bill me for soemthing that I never asked for to begin with. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Shady business dealings.

I had a policy from 2/19/2025 until 8/19/2025. Was told I needed 346.78 for the renewal on 7/29/2025. Mind you I just paid 355.89 on the 19th of July. So two payments equaling about 700.00 with in a month. Every other insurance company. Always had me pay the renewal on the next insurance payment. The insurance companies I talked to today. Agreed something is definitely wrong with that and they never heard of that. Customer service is straight bs. Can’t talk to an American person. Only talk to foreigners who you can’t understand. With that being said. I would stay far away from Direct Auto insurance. Formally known as safe auto.

Direct Auto Insurance is horrible - from the customer service to the policy coverage. Roadside Assistance is a joke and only covers a 15 mile radius. My ex broke down 280 miles from home. I expected for the tow to cover at least the first 100 miles, then we would pay the difference. Instead, we were informed it would be $1506.00 to tow him home. We did a hard pass and made other arrangements. We also had two separate tow truck drivers who both abused our time by taking nearly 3 hrs. to arrive for service. The first tow was in our local area for my vehicle and the Roadside Assistance text message provided a GPS and live ETA tracker to see where the tow truck was and when we should expect the driver. We watched the app for hours and could see the driver parked in a residential area. His ETA was only 22 mins away from us. We contacted the driver multiple times over 2 1/2 hr. period and he assured us he was on his way and had another service to finish prior to us. Instead he was at home the entire time and only stopped at a gas station when he was on his way to us after 2 1/2 hrs of waiting. He was surprised when we explained we were tracking him the entire time and knew he had not left the house the entire time. No apology for lying and wasting our time, he only ask who gave us the GPS tracker app! (The Roadside Assistance you are contracted with gave it to us!!!) Fast forward I had to remove my ex from the policy, Customer Service proceeded to ask if I had any drivers over 14, which was not on topic for removing my spouse. I told them I do but he does not drive and does not have a license and would not have one for 1-2 years. The rep proceeded to threaten me into adding him and I had to reset the conversation and say that's not why I called. Now I received a letter on 06/19/25 saying my policy is active but will not be eligible for renewal because I would not add my teen. I'm over this company and the unprofessional service I have received. I'm going back to Progressive!!!!

I ran my policy full term.Call to cancel on the renew date.Because I found it for considerably cheaper rate for the Exact Same coverage. They wanted a big cancelation fee. And even though my policy was paid in full, they Then charged me a per day rate. On top of the cancellation when my policy was paid in full. What a dishonest company. Do not use them
