I would give them 5 stars but ...
My review will be in two parts -- first the actual arcade game, the second about the overall experience. I bought the two-person stand up as a Christmas present and it was exactly as advertised ... solidly built and a total throwback to the days of heading to the arcade (today's barcade adventures notwithstanding!) The games are exactly what was experienced decades ago growing up, and the phrase "they don't build it like they used to" does not apply here. The cabinet is solid and sturdy, and the joystick, to this point, has withstood even the most overzealous coaxing. Although the games themselves are exactly as they were years ago, unfortunately the sound is not. I've noticed the sound to be crackling on many of the games, but not all. Which brings me to the second part of my review -- the overall experience. I was impressed with the response time from Brian Horowitz when I initially contacted him about what games were included. It would be much easier to just provide a link to the games that are included on each machine, but he did get back to me very quickly when I reached out to him. I made my purchase on Dec. 2, allowing for plenty of time for the Christmas delivery. I started getting concerned on Dec. 20 when I didn't hear anything about setting up a delivery time, so I reached out to Brian, who put me in contact with Rob Frank. Again, Rob got back to me right away with the name of the shipping company and a tracking number, and said he forwarded my information to Mary Ann Osier. I reached out a second time to Rob on Dec. 22, and he said he asked Mary Ann to reach out to me. Mary Ann emailed me and said that customers were receiving their arcades that week, and that they shipped it in plenty of time and that I should be receiving it that week. I finally called the shipping company on Christmas Eve, hoping that it would arrive in time, but they told me that not only has it not arrived yet, but it wasn't even in their system to be shipped. To say I was disappointed would be a great understatement. I emailed Mary Ann and she was nice enough to call me even though it was Christmas Eve. She apologized profusely, gave me an upgrade from the 60-game machine I purchased to the 412-game machine, and sent a new arcade with urgent shipping. The arcade finally arrived on Jan. 5. I would give Creative Arcades 5 stars for their quick response and immediate attention to an unfortunate situation, but the fact remains somebody somewhere dropped the ball on the delivery. I would continue to buy from Creative Arcades and would not hesitate recommending them to friends and family, and would insist on a special shout-out to Mary Ann, Rob and Brian.
