Before you spend a penny on this app read this The worst customer service and the worst experience. Let me tell you what happened with me, I am a paid and a verified user with number of reviews on my account,I also organise a number of free weekly events though cs for my local community, today suddenly I get notified my account is suspended. I emailed the to know why and their response was basically “fu@*k offf & use another app” they claim I have more than 1 account on the app which is impossible as I am only using 1 and have never logged out of it and even if by rare chance I had some old account that I don’t use I think it’s fair to say it’s an inactive account. So before you spend a penny on this scam of an app remember you are better off using Facebook.

The verification process on the app is opaque. When you first sign up it does not indicate verification is optional and it does not give the verification costs. It only requests credit card information. I supplied this. Thereafter, it does not go through a two-factor authentication process, like almost any other online payment I process. I do not understand how I was not asked to approve the amount debited off my account before it went off? Then finally, how can you say that you do not allow refunds. Especially with such opaque and questionable processes?

I'm actually shocked to see this is happening on a regular basis and there is no authority to take action against this scam! I was also charged 60$ (59.18€) on 5 July 2022, with a deactivated account and the "no refund policy" answer from their customer support. There's no email regarding this transaction whatsoever also! I thought I made a mistake or I didn't see and I clicked on sth I shouldn't have, but no! IT IS WHAT THEY DO! Full story: I had an account many years ago, but never actually used it. This year before my travels I thought I would give it a try, signed in, and immediately asked me to complete my profile and give a credit card number. I wrote it (mistake!) because I thought I can choose if I wanna get a subscription or not! After I saw it doesn't have a free version anymore, I decided to deactivate my account and I did. So now I lost 60$, I don't even have access to my account, no answer from Customer support anymore after some copy-paste answers from someone called "Rei", no reaction on Twitter or Instagram also. I tried to call them by the numbers I found online, 2 of which don't work, and one is another company (so false information!) However, I will do my best to inform as many people as I can. *PLEASE use #couchsurfing on Twitter and Instagram to spread the word* Bravo Couchsurfing! Congrats on turning from a great idea into a scam; unfortunately, you cannot survive like this though! The word is out and you're gonna see the results of this "scam idea".

Two years later they charged me for membership without notification. When I asked to refund me and cancel my membership, they said they don't process refunds after May 2020.

Uso quest’app da 12 anni nell’ultimo periodo non l’avevo usata. Per riattivare l’account bisogna pagare un fee. Pagata la quota mi è stato chiesto di verificare l’identità attraverso la carta di credito. In breve, mi sono stati scalati 56€ che non mi verrano restituiti. Sono dei ladri perché al momento della verifica non era stata specificata la cifra richiesta e sembrava essere una semplice operazione dove ti scalano una cifra simbolica per poi restituirla.

Habe mich am 16.08.2022 registriert und einen Monat als Test bezahlt. Weiterer Schritt eine Verfifizierung empfohlen. Als Verifizierung verstehe ich den Nachweis das der Anmelder legal ist. Es war augenscheinlich nicht erkennbar das die Verfizierung kostenpflichtig ist. Nach 2 Tagen überpruefte ich mein Konto und musste feststellen, dass Couchsurfing Euro 56,00 belastet. Dies ist eine Taeuschung und als Betrug erkennbar ist. Eine Erstattung lehnen sie ab. Auch mit der Gefahr das man Kunden verliert. Dies macht es deutlich, dass es nur um den Einzug von Geldbetraegen geht. Ich prüfe dagegen vorzugehen. Auch eine Sammelklage sollte man in Betracht ziehen.

Bonjour, Ayant rencontré des difficultés d'hébergement pendant mes vacances (19 juillet 2022), je me suis inscrite en urgence sur le site Couchsurfing. Il était possible de s'y inscrire pour un montant de 1,99 euro par mois, une fois mes coordonnées bancaires entrées pour effectuer le paiement, le site m'a dirigée automatiquement vers une page mentionnant que pour une meilleure visibilité, il était "recommandé de valider un macaron en payant 56 euros" (juste une ligne en haut d'une page, ne précisant aucunement qu'après validation, les 56 euros allaient être débités). Il était impossible de valider le paiement des 1,99 euro sans passer par cette page, il n'a jamais été précisé que le paiement des 56 euros allait être débité car il n'y a aucune possibilité de refus. De plus, il n'a jamais été indiqué que les coordonnées bancaires étaient enregistrées également pour le paiement des 56 euros. J'ai fait de nombreuses réclamations auprès de Couchsurfing qui m'a donné un lien dont je n'avais eu aucune connaissance au préalable pour préciser qu'aucun remboursement n'était possible. Cela apparait donc comme de la publicité mensongère s'il faut payer 56 euros automatiquement pour une des deux mensualités !
