Misleading transactions disguised as profile verification. It no where says you will be charged a whooping 51£ but they just deduct it from pre-verified credit card, all you have to do is one accidental click. Even if you raise a support ticket to get it resolved they won't return your money back Receipt #1854-3214

I was a host on Couchsurfing for 4 years, I've hosted more than 50 people, all great reviews, and then out of nowhere Couchsurfing removed my account because I said to a traveller in messages I'm against jihad and don't host islamic migrants (he wanted me to host him and his "Syrian"). Couchsurfing "support team" emailed me that they removed my profile, no reason given -"for privacy concerns"! No explanation at all. CS does not value their hosts at all, you are nothing to them, I was so shocked!! You can be a great host with great reviews for years, but to this greedy CS corporation you are not even cattle. They have no respect at all for their hosts. They don't understand that their business model only works because of us good hosts!!! Not only that, I don't recommend Couchsurfing to anyone anymore because they charge you now a yearly fee and trick new people to get verified - which means they charge your card here in the EU up to 70€!!! Even though users verify each other with reviews. If you want to host now, as a new user you have to pay this ugly subscription fee, as if Couchsurfing corporation doesn't have at least 80 million USD in the bank! Couchsurfing turned out to be really the worst kind of a company. We are nothing to them. It's a scam.

Couchsurfing is unsafe and a total rip off. I tried it and a member almost immediately suggested I stay with him in his bed. I was also tricked by the company into subscribing to a lifetime membership. I never received a receipt nor any kind of membership confirmation and they have now ceased all communication. I would not recommend Couchsurfing to anyone.

Be very careful with navigating the website. You may end up paying $60.00 without even knowing it and if you request a refund, they will not provide it. The customer service is terrible and you cannot reach someone on the phone. I would recommend using facebook or another service before this one.

Unscrupulous people running Couchsurfing. They ask you to enter your card details in the name of profile/account verification and then charge your card a huge fee calling it member contribution to run the site. At no point they inform you that they will charge your card towards a lifetime membership fee or what is the amount which they will charge. And then you discover it in your bank statement one day. Asking them for a refund is a useless activity as they will keep making vague statements. Solution: write to your bank complaining about fraudulent transaction by Couchsurfing, explain in detail, hotlist/block your card so Couchsurfing cannot make another transaction. My bank (HDFC Bank Ltd.) helped me recover the money and reversed the transaction after investigating the matter. Whew! 😇
