Very unfortunate seeing all those negative references here. I've been using Couchsurfing for 9 years now and never regret being a member of the platform. Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people, learn about diffrent cultures while you travel. Last year I travelled across the US for 2 months and was hosted via Couchsurfing in 80% of all the places I went. It would be nice if Couchsurfing continues developing the app/website as it hasen't been updated in years. Happy Couchsurfing :)

Thanks a lot to Renee for processing my request! I have also fallen for not seeing the payment for verification - I do not say the charge is wrong, but just very easily overlooked. I very much like to contribute smth small every month, but 56€ at once might be quite a bit for broke students wanting to travel cheaply. But Renee agreed to refund me although I didn't have much hope - thanks :)

I’ve been on CS since 2017 and due to the pandemic then had to shake things up a bit. Yes this was annoying but it’s less than a cup of coffee a month to stay active on the leading couchsurfer website which actually has some safeguarding, relatively streamlined system and a customer service that seems to actually take action. I’ve tried other CS websites and they seem more clunky, but definitely useable. Also, having an app makes things much more usable. Please just read/double read what you’re signing up to and if you’re unsure then do it on a credit card so you can do a charge back in the worst cases

I’am very satisfied about couchsurfing. But this webside stay alive cost money. I don’t know why all the writers are so negative? Is the only thing what they want travel for free?

I’ve had unforgettable experiences and made great friends through Couchsurfing. Though the community culture has definitely changed over the past few years and a lot of people use it for ‘ulterior motives’ now (since the community expanded). I prefer to camp now when possible. It’s also a shame that it became a for-profit, it was a great to have something that was from people and for people and no money involved. When money is involved the attitudes are different. I still recommend Couchsurfing as one of the best ways to travel and truly experience the places you visit and exchange knowledge and experience with local communities. I have grown so much as a person thanks to couchsurfing and more so thanks to the wonderful people out there, I learned to live and share with others beyond cultural differences.

I came to London, and stayed with Chiara, and Lorenzo. They were such great hosts from making me feel so welcome, to great conversations; and great food! I think couch surfing is great! It sure was a great experience for me, and I will do it again!

Über Couchsurfing habe ich bisher die besten Reisetipps von Einheimischen bekommen, die mir ein Reiseführer einfach nicht bieten kann. Einige haben sich auch während meiner Reisen mit mir getroffen und mir "ihren" persönlichen Ort gezeigt, das war immer fantastisch. Übernachtet habe ich dort noch nie bei jemandem und auch nicht beherbergt, das ist mir zu riskant. Bisher habe ich nur tolle Menschen getroffen, aber manche die einen anschreiben sind auch echt merkwürdig und sind nicht seriös. Zum Kennenlernen und Austauschen eine super Plattform, zum Übernachten finde ich es zu riskant.

I met some great people via Couchsurfing! The website needs some UX improvements, but it offers excellent travel experience, still!
