USE ANY OTHER TOUR COMPANY
We just returned from three weeks in the UK. We went on many different tours with many different groups, and the only one that was total crap is this one. The first problem was that it took an entire week to book a tour, as they only answer when they feel like it. The process online is very sketchy as they ask for a photo ID before they would even book an online tour. NO OTHER TOUR COMPANY DID THIS. We were staying at a hotel connected to Victoria Station, and our concierge notified them the evening before the tour that we were coming. Their own employee gave us inaccurate information as to how to get to the right bus station platform. We got there on time--with three minutes to spare--but did not see the bus because it was parked in the back behind other buses where you cannot see it, and you are not allowed to go and look since there are buses coming and going.). The bus suddenly pulled out and left, 3 minutes early, and after we had verified we were going to go. Now, they refuse to give us a refund. After we complained, they offered us a trip to a different location which was half the value of the one we booked, and said they would not refund the balance money. We had already been to the other destination. They then offered to let us go, but in four days--when we would not be in London anymore. This "business" is a SCAM. While in the UK, we went with Gray Line, Paddywagon, Irish Tours, BigBus Hop On/Hop Off, ferries, used public buses, trains, taxi's and we didn't have trouble with anyone else. The other tours tell you clearly where they will pick you up and even came to our hotel, in some cases, to get us. None of them left early--and we often waited for people who were a couple of minutes late. After all, not one person going on the tour is local, and everyone does their best to get there on time. I highly recommend you use any other tour group, as this one is a rip off. They give bad information, and then steal your money. No matter what they say, don't do it! You will regret it! There are many tour groups out there, you don't need to use this one!
Response from City DiscoveryOct 21, 2016
Hi Jenifer, We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience you've experienced. The reason why we had asked you to send some supporting documents such as an ID was because your booking was unfortunately flagged as fraudulent due to some factors based on your credit card and IP location. As we explained to you through email a few weeks ago, the "Lunch in the Cotswolds from London" had left at the exact time indicated in your voucher which was at 08:15 AM. Your voucher also contained the exact meeting point for the activity which is at Victoria Coach Station Gate 16. Victoria Coach Station is about 6 minutes walk from your hotel, Grosvenor Victoria. This distance can be 3 minutes depending on how fast you walk. It would not have been possible for you to take 20 minutes to get to the departure point unless you got lost on the way. Based from the report of the local provider, everyone in their client manifest was able to join the tour except for you and your group. 3 seats were reserved under your name and were not sold to anyone else and it is for this reason that we are unable to issue a refund. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Best regards, City Discovery
