If you would like a health insurance company that increases its charges well in excess of inflation each year for a low level of cover and terrible customer service Cigna is for you. If you like waiting for six months to get reimbursed and enjoy wasting hours chasing Cigna by phone and email, look no further. Are dishonest and incompetent customer service representatives something you value? If so apply today and join the 91% of very dissatisfied customers who gave Cigna the lowest score on TrustPilot.
I sent a formal complaint to Cigna in May. Their complains procedure commits them to resolving complaints within 2 to 4 weeks (they shared 2 different procedures] but I am still waiting. This is totally unacceptable.

Cigna is constantly denying coverage and discriminating against families with disabled children
Cigna has denied us coverage time and time again, including for our autistic daughter. We have spent hours and hours and hours of our life on the phone with them, fighting denied claims, sometimes to only receive back a fraction of the reimbursement that we are due. Even pre-approved claims are being denied and it's is having heavy financial tolls on our family. Several of our practitioners have dropped us because Cigna won't pay. Cigna is currently operating in immoral ways that are focused on their bottom line and not the people that they are supposed to be helping. They are being discriminatory, including towards families with disabled children.

Dealing with Cigna was More Painful than the Surgery
EDIT: I received no reply when messaging the email address from their reply below.
I am writing this review because I feel I have no where left to go to voice my displeasure dealing with Cigna.
Earlier this year I suffered from a severe injury that medically required me to undergo surgery with a total recovery time of one year.
When I first got my MRI results and diagnosis, I submitted my expense claims for the appointments and nervously called Cigna to verify that the surgery would be covered where I was told with confidence - "Yes sir, I can assure you that your surgery will be 100% covered by your plan". This call along with the reasonable processing times of my previous expense claims gave me confidence that I would not have to come up with $10,000 in a time when I needed it most. Unfortunately for me, this is where all positive interactions with Cigna end.
In the middle of May 2023, I underwent a successful surgery and I was on the road to recovery. Once I received my bill for just under $10,000. I promptly paid it with my own credit card because I was unable to get a Guarantee of Payment or directly bill Cigna since it is a foreign insurance company in the country I'm in. That same day, I submitted the expense claim thinking that I'd get my money back in 5-10 business days as they told me. Well here I am two full months and over 10 phone calls to Cigna later, where I still have not received a dollar of the $10,000 that I was assured I'd be getting in 5-10 business days.
I waited a few days after the 10th business day before calling customer service to ask about the timeline of my claim. This is where the pattern of complete lies from Cigna customer service begins. After looking up my claim the customer service rep apologized that it was taking longer than expected and told me it will 100% be processed in 2 days and he will give me a call back then. I never received a call and the claim was of course never processed. I of course called them back the next day to ask about the claim where they did the same thing they did last time and told me two more days. I didn't just accept this solution since I was already lied to once so they "created an escalation case" to ensure this will be looked at with priority and said they will call me back in 2 days with an update. I was never called back and the claim was not processed.
It is now past mid June many days after their initially promised 5-10 business days. I frustratedly call again to ask about the claim and "escalation case". I was asked for the case reference number, which I was never given. The rep said there was no record of one being added and they didn't even see a record of me calling in. I insisted that I did and gave them the exact date and time of the phone call where he then found the record but it was for some reason under my spouses' name who had no part in this entire claim.... After finding that record, they told me there is no record of the escalation case but they did leave a note on the account, which apparently does nothing. This rep apologized and actually created an "escalation case". The reason I put these in quotes is because I'm still not sure that they are real. They seem to be a way to trick customers into being satisfied with nothing actually getting done. The customer service reps have no idea what is actually going on with the claim and they go through their script to get the customer off the phone. I called back a few times with the reference number where I was told that the claim requires an additional review since one of the amounts on the claim is above a certain threshold on my plan. But they can't tell me which one. I then asked if I could in anyway talk to the people who are saying this because I could provide any records they might need. Of course, I cannot. I made one last call at the end of June where one of the customer service reps let it slip that the last time this claim was actually reviewed was on June 12th. Awesome.
Flashforward to last week where I called again and I was told me claim was reviewed and denied because they "need my medical records". I asked for specifics but they could not give them to me. This enraged me because:
1.) Cigna already has all of my medical records because I submitted expense claims with diagnoses, results, and doctors notes from the very beginning of this process.
2.) No one called me in the last two months to tell me they needed anything after I've called to complain over 10 times. They just denied it.
I uploaded all the records the same day and then called and was given the same lies. A new claim has been created and I was told it will be another 10 business days but I fully expect the same process to take place. I do not trust anything that Cigna tells me at this point and dealing with them as been by far the worst part of this entire process. If it is your own choice, I'd go anywhere else for insurance.

Bad Policy Changes Cigna Health Care
My physician referred me to therapy for bicep tendinitis. The PT I was sent to definitely noticed the range of motion in beginning of my shoulder therapy was limited. The pain prior was severe, and I had lived with it for months, but after my physician referred me to PT within a few weeks I began to improve the pain and motion. I received a letter from Cigna recently, and after several weeks of PT, that Cigna would not cover the cost for my therapy! Will I receive a hefty out of pocket bill now for therapy that they deem I didn't need even though my physician referred me and Physical therapist noted and felt the limited range and impingement? In all the numerous years I've been with Cigna this is the FIRST of this incident! This insurance has some explaining to do. I had to also fight recently to have a bill removed from my wife's visit because they claimed the Patient First doctor she saw was not in network and Cigna tried to say the doctor was not in network when in actuality the doctor was in network! We would have forked over a hefty bill for a visit that the doctor could not even treat my wife because the facility was not equipped for the sanitary conditions required to examine the open excision that my wife thought was infected. The doctor never even treated my wife at Patient First so there should not have even been a bill to begin with! What is going on with Cigna? What has changed? This Insurance company is the worst for care now and I don't trust this company at all now!
