Our daughter has TD1
Our daughter has had Type 1 diabetes for 15 months. From the beginning Cigna has been difficult to work with regarding her diabetic medications and supplies. I have to go to three pharmacies in our town to retrieve all her medications and supplies due to their medical supply contracts and in network shams. Towards the end of 2023 we recieved a letter in the mail stating that all our daughters diabetic medications and supplies were covered at $0 cost to us. In January when the pre authorization co pay was hundreds, I called Cigna customer service. I reached an India man whose English was fair, that assured us that we indeed had $0 cost, he called our pharmacies-cleared it, I picked up her medication and supplies the following day at $0 cost. The beginning of February- her medication and supplies showed a co-pay of hundreds. I called customer service at Cigna to clarify that in January we had received medication and supplies at $0 cost. This time the India man that spoke poor English told me we received the letter by mail in error or possibly by promotion from Cigna but that we did not qualify for $0 cost diabetic medication and supplies due to our insurance plan being a commercial plan, not a private family plan. Quite frankly Cigna seems like a fraudulent insurance company- always moving the dial. It’s no wonder so many diabetics don’t care for their disease well. Having a daughters whose quality of life depends on coverage and this kind of stuff going on for the last 15 months is a type of insanity I wasn’t aware of when she became diagnosed. I am wore out, anxious for the following months and hopeful my husband can get different BETTER insurance in the near future. I am disgusted by Cigna. Downright, disgusted.
