Typical delay or deny. Has taken over a month to get prescriptions filled. No notifications from Cigna they just denied the Prescription and waited for me to call. It took filing complaint with BBB to get things started. Still struggling to get RX delivered. Avoid if you have options

After having approval for a critical medication from Aetna and United Healthcare in the past, I recently switched to Cigna. Cigna has been the only insurance provider that has denied Repatha for me. Total nightmare! My doctor at Hopkins has submitted all the necessary information including that I have a genetic disorder (FH) that required this medication and Cigna has been a disaster to work with through this. Avoid Cigna at all costs :(

Cigna has been found guilty under the laws of several jurisdictions for widespread denials of eligible claims without justification. That has been my experience for about 50% of the eligible claims I have submitted, though more recently I would put that figure at 85%. But it is the widespread abuse, the intimidation, the incompetence, and the lack of accountability accompanying this corporate greed that are inexcusable and that you must do everything to avoid. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. You will be screwed and you will spend your life in courts trying to recover reimbursements to which you are legally entitled. I see that Cigna Healthcare posted a reply to this response. Their internal complaints systems and investigations cannot be trusted. They routinely lie and alter facts including to medical providers, who have stopped working with them. It is next to impossible to find a provider willing to accept Cigna Healthcare policyholders as a result of this widespread abuse.

I contacted Cigna for a quotation online and Mr. Robert Muir called me to explain the possible healthcare plans. So far I am very satisfied with the dedication and detailed information received. Robert is very proactive, friendly, and dedicated at his work.

No matter how many times I call about a claim issue, I get different information depending on who I talk to. I don't know who or what to believe. A lot of the customer service people just read from the benefit book, which doesn't help (I can read) as the claim is complicated or mis-interpreted by Cigna. I get told information that is in direct conflict with my insurance card. I was told IF I visited the emergency department at a hospital, my copay was $250. My insurance card states that copay on emergency visits at the hospital is $120. When I get my EOB, which I can only get if I call Cigna to request it, my copay is different every month for the same doctor. The copay never matches what is on my insurance card. I get the feeling that the customer service people are very poorly trained or unable to process the training information. Regardless of the reason, that leaves the patient extremely frustrated because we can't get a uniform answer. I never know if the answer I got, is correct. If I call back and talk to a different agent and get a different answer, Cigna's response is "oh sorry that was the wrong information". That does not help the patient if they are relying on your response to decide whether to proceed with a doctor's care. For 12 months I have been requesting my medical EOB's. I get my prescription EOB's but not my medical. Every time I call to complain, I am told they fixed the problem. The next month, no EOB shows up. How difficult can it be to have my medical EOB's sent to me? If you can't solve that simple problem, how the hell can I rely on you to decide whether to pay my claims?

I had Cigna for a year and left. I could not believe the the complete ineptitude and straight up lies that u was told. They have the absolute worst claim correspondences and customer service. I called to make sure a Dr. I was seeing could be reimbursed and they had said yes but only a percentage would be issued. This was fine and understood since it was out of network. I spent over $2,000 with this Dr and sent in all documentation 6 times. Each time they either did not have the documentation or had a new item needed for the documentation. They always said they would escalate it to get help and never did anything to help. I spent over 9 months trying to get it rectified and spent hours of my life trying to get anyone to figure out why it kept getting lost, or needed something specific that I wasn’t told previously. I know all healthcare in America is not great but Cigna is the absolute worst experience I have ever had. Do not use Cigna they are corrupt and do not care about patients whatsoever.
