I joined HealthSpring/Cigna because they were one of the providers that supported my meds. They approved for me to receive a shot only to deny it asking me to pay thousands for it. They also denied another medication that they already knew I needed. This has been an awful experience.

HealthSpring is a major disappointment. I am embroiled with them over a Formulary Exemption for a widely used and very effective drug. My physician's office has responded to their process, but they didn't accept the response because it "was after the turnaround time." What about my turnaround time for getting a needed prescription refilled? I have spent many hours on the phone with agents who only read the same response over and over. Now I am being forced to pursue a third party appeal with C2C Innovative Solutions. This should have been a straightforward process, but their needless delays and inadequate communications are horrible. Do not choose a Part D plan with this company. Less than 2 months of having this coverage and I'm ready to bolt!

I can't thank Cigna enough for their excellent service and coverage during my son's cancer treatment from 2024-2025. We didn't have a single issue, coverage denial, or unpaid claim. When you go through a traumatic medical event, you pray that the insurance coverage you pay for will meet your needs and not leave you high and dry with extensive medical bills. We had a team of Cigna insurance advocates that were constantly updating us on pre-approvals, making sure we were getting all the services we needed and letting us know what was covered. Truly our experience was above and beyond. I want to thank Cigna for providing excellent coverage during our really hard time and for not having to worry about insurance claims on top of cancer treatments.

I would give zero stars if that was an option. We have only used Cigna since January of 2026. I have found the customer service appalling. I have had 6 communications on average to get simple requests addressed such as renewing a refill on a medication they sent in January. It is February the system is convoluted to the point of being utterly useless. I waited on hold for over 20 mins to get a case manager assigned to me after receiving a letter claiming a case manager could help navigate their insane system. The representative on the number on the letter was clueless as to how to find out who a case manager is for me. Weeks of waiting for response for pre approval or pre authorization no one there seems to know which covers what for medications. To be told I need a prescription sent over after both pre authorization and approval were received. Why would a prescription be the last thing they request? It was literally the first thing my Dr submitted to them. I have an additional complaint since my review. I called my endocrinologist to request a 3rd Pre authorization or pre approval it is still unclear which one you are even asking for when you simply write PA. Your representatives each told me you had PAs received on the 3rd of Feb and again on the 9th of February. I received a email this morning stating I need a PA for my CGM Dexcom 7s. I don’t expect representatives to know medications but maybe some general knowledge between devices and medication would be beneficial for your representatives and for the love of god tell them CGMs would not be for cosmetic purposes. Your company sucks on every conceivable level. It is rife with incompetence.

Cigna is a total nightmare! Dealing with Cigna has been a total nightmare. After 2 months and tons of e-mails and calls with number of representatives of this company regarding simple signature required for my daughter's university nothing has been solved. They ignored and didn't answer at all for more than a month, then refused to sign without any reasons in literally one sentence email and made a mistake, confusing me with another customer! I cannot believe a company like Cigna would be so evasive in their approach to customer service. I think it is time to get legal action started. Definitely will opt out of their "service".

The insurance company pays for nothing not even basic care and the employees are rude. They charge you for things they shouldn't and offer no resolution. I stayed on hold for 40 mins today to get hung up on before the survey.

Update 2/17/26: Checked my app this morning and it shows I have met my deductible and out of pocket max, however, when I went to my medical appointment this morning and they ran my insurance, it did NOT show that I had met my out of pocket max and I had to pay $128 for the visit. Stay away from Cigna AT ALL COSTS. There's a reason they have such a low rating. They don't care about their insured. Such a scam. I like to check the Cigna app to follow my progress with meeting my deductible and out of pocket max. Recently I checked and saw I had metmy deductible. When I checked the app a few days later, it reverted back to me not meeting my deductible. Now it has shown I have met my deductible again. Now my out of pocket remaining amount has changed from showing I was about $1,000 away from meeting it to now being $1,600 away from meeting it. Not sure why all of this keeps changing, but it's a very shady practice. I highly recommend everyone checks their account to make sure you're being credited correctly. Don't send me a canned response asking me to reach out to customer service. Just stop being so damm shady to get more money out of me.

CIGNA continues to provide extremely poor customer service. Their email contact form on their customer portal still does not work. Meanwhile their app issue for iphone users allegedly has been fixed yet the log in button remains below the screen and can not be accessed. Cigna has also suddenly decided to remove all previous correspondence from the customer portal which means that renewal invitations and other correspondence is no longer available to their customer. Am appalled by this deterioration and would not recommend CIGNA as a company going forward
