Do Not Use A Chase Credit Card For Purchase Protection
Allow me to lay out a timeline to display Eclaimsline deceptive techniques. Aug 14th 2022 – Claim Filed Aug 19th 2022 – Email received stating I needed to upload a Common Carrier Statement verifying cause of delay and a copy of my updated itinerary. Sep 16th 2022 – Common Carrier statement was received from the airline and uploaded to my claim in addition to the updated itinerary. October 10th 2022 – After not hearing anything from Eclaimsline I called only to find out that additional documentation was needed: Common Carrier Statement (which I already uploaded) and update flight itinerary (also uploaded as well). Email was sent stating I needed these documents. October 11th 2022 – I received another email stating I now only needed an updated flight itinerary. This raised the question as to why was my Common Carrier Statement not verified when I uploaded it on September 16th 2022? It was only verified when I called to inquire about it almost a month later. This shows that they only work on your claim when you call to inquire and that their high claim volume excuse is nothing more than an excuse. A business practice hoping people forget about their claim is shallow and deceptive. October 27th 2022 – I call again to inquire after not hearing anything. I was transferred to another claims examiner who now told me not all my receipts are correct and I needed to upload additional documentation. Now I am asking why was this not caught by the previous three examiners that I spoke with or why is this not mentioned in the previous emails. The examiner could not give me a reason and simply told me if I wanted my claim to be approved then I needed to upload the additional receipt documentation. This shows 1 of 2 possible reasons. They were just trying to delay the process even further by making up reasons or the more likely method that my receipt documentation was inadequate and instead the previous claim examiners decided I would find that out next time called further delaying my claim and them having to payout my claim. The second method would allow them to be deceptive while operating within their company’s fine print for claims. I was unable to upload the documentation directly to my claim due to website error so sent them to their general Eclaimsline email then received confirmation that my email was received. November 27th 2022 – I checked my claim status online only to find out it had been closed yet I still haven’t received a payout for my claim. I was not notified in any way that my claim was closed. I called and the Customer Service Rep informed me that my claim was closed due to my Common Carrier Statement for reason for delay was not covered under the purchase protection benefit. Keep in mind I uploaded my Common Carrier Statement on September 16th and it was removed from the required documentation list in the email I received on October 11th. This reasonably would mean that the statement had been excepted. On top of this I spoke to three claims examiners after this point who did not mention that the Common Carrier Statement was not covered. I was told my Common Carrier Statement looked good and that I just needed additional documentation in regards to my receipts. They must have been waiting to see if I give up and if not then they will use this as a trump card. Documenting all these events into a single timeline displays and proves their lack of consistency and deceptive business practices. Overall their goal is to prolong the process to frustrate customers into forgetting or giving up entirely so they can avoid a payout or buy themselves time to find an error in the claim to avoid a payout. I guess in the end they won as I am no longer pursuing payment because my time is more valuable than wasting it with this company. If the amount I was trying to claim was larger than I would've pursued legal action. However, Chase lost a customer when it comes to making large travel purchases on my Sapphire credit card due to the poor purchase protection given the annual fee I pay. I have heard AMEX providers better purchase protection customer service with much less headache and I will proceed with them moving forward with my travel needs. I understand some people try to take advantage of insurance payouts but most upload appropriate documentation and should be paid out in an appropriate way. I hope whoever reads will take the time to think about if filing a claim with Eclaimsline is really worth their personal time that could be spent doing other things and second guess using Chase card protection services.
