I was looking for a home security solution that could solve a problem without a lethal outcome. I found the Byrna Launcher checked all the boxes. My wife was concerned until she used the Launcher for the first time. She was impressed and confident once we were finished the first target practice we did. We both felt confident in handling the Launcher its power, accuracy and the ease of shooting it. I am very pleased with this purchase. I had questions and found the response time very quick and answers to my questions very helpful. I found everything from Customer service, the purchase of the Byrna, delivery and the Product was 5 stars. Regards Ron Kennedy

I purchased a Byrna CL launcher for my daughter in the hibiscus color. I ordered it early so it would be here for her birthday. When we opened the box, it looked too much like a real firearm in that color. I called Byrna directly and was told that I could not exchange it for another color (I decided I wanted orange for her instead) because I was out of the 14 day notification window. No exceptions. I found this totally unacceptable. This was my second order with Byrna (I have spent over $2000 with them) and it will be my last. I was extremely disappointed in their unwillingness to work anything out with me. Bye bye Byrna!

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. Byrna's return and exchange policy is clearly posted on our website prior to purchase, including the requirement that customers notify us within 14 days if they wish to return or exchange an item. In this case, the request was made well outside of that timeframe. While we understand that you later decided a different color would be a better fit, we must apply the same policies consistently to all customers. Making exceptions on a case-by-case basis would not be fair to those who follow the published return window, and maintaining a consistent policy helps ensure equal treatment for everyone. We want to emphasize that our return policy is not hidden or difficult to find. We make every effort to provide this information clearly so customers can make informed purchasing decisions and understand the available options should they need assistance after delivery. We appreciate your business and are sorry we were unable to accommodate your request under the circumstances. We wish you and your daughter all the best.

Once you pull the trigger, the CO2 cartridge starts to discharge. That makes sense. But if you don't take a lot of shots, reloading the Byrna several times to do that, and it sits for a few days (or longer) the CO2 cartridge empties (and can mess up the inside of the Byrna). So you have to load a new one. I HATE THAT. There's got to be a better way. I'm an older woman. I live in a very safe area (though a lot of people around me I know are gun carriers), so I didn't buy my Byrna primarily for self-defense. I use it almost exclusively to scare rabbits, raccoons and groundhogs away from my bird feeders and garden. Granted, that may not be its "intended" use, but it works well. (I don't deliberately hit them -- except the large raccoons, which also try to attack my goldfish pond -- but having the projectiles land right next to them is very effective to scare them.) However, I need to take only a few shots at a time to get that job done, and it will be several or more days before any such animal shows up again (or for the first time). So the Byrna sits unused -- and starts to leak CO2. I'm at the point at which I'm sorry I bought this thing. It also takes way too long to load. The projectiles often easily pop out of the top of the magazine as you're trying to do that. If I were truly in an emergency and the Byrna wasn't already loaded, and with a new CO2 cartridge, it would be fairly usely for protection.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience has not met your expectations. One of the features that distinguishes Byrna launchers from many other CO2-powered launchers is our patented pull-pierce technology. Unlike traditional CO2 devices that pierce the cartridge when it is installed, a Byrna launcher does not pierce the CO2 until the trigger is pulled for the first time. This allows customers to keep a CO2 cartridge installed for extended periods while maintaining readiness for its intended use. Once the CO2 cartridge has been pierced and the launcher has been used, the launcher is no longer intended to remain pressurized for long periods of time. As with virtually all CO2-powered devices, the gas will gradually dissipate over time. For that reason, we recommend removing the spent or partially used cartridge after use if the launcher will be stored for an extended period. Leaving any CO2-powered device pressurized for prolonged periods can also place unnecessary stress on seals and internal components. Based on your review, it sounds like your usage pattern involves firing only a few shots at a time and then storing the launcher for days between uses. We understand how that could make replacing CO2 more frequently feel inconvenient. However, Byrna launchers were designed and optimized primarily as personal security devices, where long-term readiness before first use is a key requirement. We appreciate your feedback regarding magazine loading and projectile retention as well. Customer feedback helps us continue improving our products and future designs. Thank you again for sharing your experience and for being a Byrna customer.

Dont buy anything from these crooks! I researched a Byrna LE launcher and learned that the latest LE Gen 2 model was a significant improvement over the previous generation. Since the Gen 2 version of the LE had been available for many months, I felt comfortable in making the purchase. On June 27 I placed my order on the Canadian Byrna website and continued to gather additional information about my purchase. On June 30 I chatted with a Byrna customer service rep and asked her to confirm that the unit I ordered was the Gen 2 version. To my surprise, she said that the LE launchers shipped to Canada are NOT the Gen 2 version - they are the older Gen 1 version, a clearly inferior product. When I said I was unhappy about their deception she claimed that the difference between the two versions was only cosmetic. According to the information on the Byrna web site her claim is absolutely FALSE. The product description on the web site, that I used to make the purchase, does not specify which version is being sold. Elsewhere on the Byrna website though, they sing the praises of the Gen 2 version. It's a classic bait and switch scam! They should not be allowed to get away with it! Update 1 Nice try. Byrna happily/deceptively sold me an 'old stock' Gen 1 LE launcher months after the new Gen 2 model was being sold and glowingly reviewed in the US. They deliberately sold (@ the same price) the Gen 1 models to Canadians only - until they ran out of them. At no time, did they differentiate between the Gen 1 or Gen 2 models on either the Canadian or American web sites. When I complained about this deception, they said that the pictures of the Gen 1 LE on the Canadian site were 'clearly' different than the pictures on the American site AND that the differences were only 'cosmetic' anyway. Keep in mind that they did this in the context of the many very convincing reports by US customers that the Gen 2 model noticeably outperformed the Gen 1. They even had a link to a YouTube review of the fabulous new Gen 2 on their site! There is no doubt in my mind that they did this because they wanted to dump their old Gen 1 models on Canadians while they sold the new improved Gen 2 to Americans. Isn't it funny that the Canadian site NOW sells the Gen 2. I guess that model is not so 'specific to the U.S. market' anymore. They claim that I should have noticed the difference based on a couple of different pictures and they continue to claim to me that the devices are identical, despite the evidence. THIS is a blatant lie! From the LE description on your site: "The Byrna LE features a completely redesigned trigger interface and valve assembly to fire .68 caliber rounds at speed of up to 330 feet per second. The new trigger design on the Byrna LE allows for a much smoother and lighter trigger pull, providing a better experience for the shooter." That sounds like a very significant upgrade! An ethical company would have told purchasers that there was a Gen 2 model coming out and offered the Gen 1 at a discount. Update 2 You removed your first deceptive reply entirely and wrote some new lies to replace it. Obviously that was because the second set of lies you told contradicted the first set. Being deceptive is clearly central to your business model. I will continue to inform people about your deceptive practices. So far I have successfully steered 3 of my friends away from purchasing one of your lame products. Update 3 You: "Canadian-specific compliance and labeling requirements that differ from those in the United States". Will you, in the spirit of honesty and fairness that you so fully embrace, describe the DETAILS of that new 'compliance'? Of course not because that would reveal yet another lie 😂 Update 4 You cited 'labeling compliance' for the delay in offering the Gen 2 in the Canadian market. If Byrna was so concerned about making their package labeling compliant, why did they sell me a Gen 1 in 100% NON compliant packaging, that was clearly for the U.S. market only. In other words, you blatantly broke the same rules that you falsely claimed were the reason you didn't sell me a Gen 2 in the first place. The shocking facts are: "Byrna smuggled dangerous firearms, in non compliant U.S. only packaging, into Canada and illegally sold them to Canadian customers. Obviously, this was an attempt to dump their old U.S. stock of Gen 1s in Canada so they could sell the Gen 2s in the U.S. " I wonder what the BBB, Trust Pilot, and Canadian government regulators will say about that... Due to your failure to do the right thing, on Monday, I will: 1. Report the above to the relevant Canadian government agencies that regulate this from both a Customs and a Trade perspective. 2. Start posting this information on YouTube. It will become a bright orange rash of ill will on every related mention of your company. Do the right thing...

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We strongly disagree with the characterization of Byrna as deceptive or unethical and would like to clarify several important facts. At the time of your purchase, the Canadian LE launcher product page accurately depicted and described the product being sold. At no point did the Canadian website advertise, describe, or represent the launcher as a Gen 2 model. The photos, specifications, and product information on the Canadian site corresponded to the launcher customers would receive. While information about the Gen 2 LE launcher was available on Byrna's U.S. website, those products and product offerings were specific to the U.S. market at that time. Customers purchasing from the Canadian website were purchasing from a separate storefront with its own product listings, inventory, regulatory requirements, and product availability. We would also like to address the repeated claim that the Gen 2 LE launcher is more powerful or substantially outperforms the Gen 1 version. This is incorrect. The changes between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 LE launchers were cosmetic and ergonomic in nature. The internal operating system, barrel, trigger assembly, and performance characteristics remained the same. The Gen 1 launcher was not an inferior-performance product. Regarding returns, Byrna's Canadian store clearly discloses that Canadian orders are final sale and are not eligible for return. This policy is available to view before purchase and is applied consistently to all customers. Your request was handled in accordance with those published terms. More recently, the Gen 2 LE launcher became available in Canada after additional requirements specific to the Canadian market were completed. Its later availability in Canada does not change the fact that the product listing at the time of your purchase accurately reflected the launcher being sold. We understand that you would have preferred a different version of the launcher. However, we reject the assertion that there was any deception, bait-and-switch, or misrepresentation. The product delivered matched the product shown and described on the Canadian website at the time the order was placed. We appreciate your business and regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. Response to Update 2: Our previous response was updated to provide additional context after the Gen 2 LE launcher became available on the Canadian website. The update was made to add information, not to change or contradict any facts previously provided. We would also like to reiterate that there was never any effort to "dump old stock." The delay in offering the Gen 2 LE launcher in Canada was due to Canadian-specific compliance and labeling requirements that differ from those in the United States. Once those requirements were satisfied, the Gen 2 version became available for sale in Canada. While we understand that you remain dissatisfied, we respectfully disagree with the claims that Byrna engaged in deception or misrepresentation. The product delivered matched the product that was pictured and described on the Canadian website at the time of purchase, and our responses have consistently reflected those facts.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how disappointing it can be to purchase a product and later see a promotion become available. While we understand your disappointment, this purchase was completed through an independent dealer well before the promotion was announced. As a result, we were not able to provide a refund or price adjustment related to the later sale. We understand that this outcome was frustrating, and we're sorry that we could not provide the resolution you were hoping for. While we were unable to accommodate the request, we strive to treat every customer with respect, communicate clearly, and apply our policies fairly and consistently. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to provide additional context regarding our promotional policies.
