This Is Your Sign! You Deserve To Be Heard, Don’t Hesitate.
Been recommending BetterHelp to everyone! This has been such a good experience and I’m so glad to have had an outlet for myself when things were becoming overwhelming in my life. Not only would I recommend but I trust I will return to better help in the future when other things arise for me that need help/guidance.

The most horrible counseling service
The most horrible counseling service. Do not trust better help. The counselor does not care about you, and the customer service is very very rude. Find somewhere else, save yourself. You get nothing from this place. They just want your money but care nothing about you.
I have talked with the teams. My review remains the same.

Hi Irena -- I'm so sorry to hear that your experience with your BetterHelp counselor left you feeling uncared for. I'm also so sorry if you felt the Member Success team didn't treat you well, or came across as rude. We strive for a much higher level of service within our internal teams, as well as within our network of counselors. If you haven't already, please reach out to our Member Success team once again and we'll be happy to discuss a possible refund, and would be happy to personally work with you to find a new counselor match that can meet your needs. We'd also love the chance to gather more detailed feedback about your experience with your counselor so we can investigate that further!
Warm Regards,
BetterHelp Team

$250.00 to respond to a "How are you"
This SCAM website wanted to charge me $250.00 for responding to a message from a therapist, who I never contacted, that then sent me another message asking me, "I just wanted to check on how you are doing." When I tried to press send, Better Help was like, OK, we are going to need $250.00 to send that message. YOU CAN'T EVEN VET YOUR THERAPIST! I have been in ACTUAL THERAPY for 11 years and THAT IS NOT HOW THERAPY WORKS! My insurance covers that! But not on BetterHelp.com where "We don't work with insurance companies, but you can still ask your insurance company if they cover us." WHAT?!
She is trying to make BANK. I state specifically that I am looking for D.I.D. treatments in my Bio, and in her message to me, she doesn't state that she specializes in D.I.D.
For the record, this was my $250.00 response to a therapist that contacted me twice, responding to her asking me, "I just wanted to check in on you and see how you're doing."
My unsent response: "Hello there. I am not really sure how this website works. I am looking for a Dissociative Identity Disorder Specialist. I am seeing a Trauma Specialist in my region, but nobody in my region deals with Dissociative Identity Disorder. I need to contact my insurance company and see if they cover BetterHelp because they said that they covered online Therapy, but when I asked BetterHelp where do I put in my insurance information they told me that they don't work with insurance companies, so that I need to contact my insurance company again and see if they cover Betterhelp. Honestly, not doing good because I am managing a handful of Ehlers Danlos Symptoms/Dr appointments and I am burnt out, and I still need to contact my insurance company on the specific online therapies that they cover. We thought that we would get back to you and ask you if you have had training from D.I.D. specialists? Thank you kindly for your time."
THANK GOODNESS I DID NOT ENTER MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER after completing my profile, because I probably would have been charged no questions asked!!!

Hi Kacey -- we appreciate your candid feedback on this, and I'm so sorry for the confusion regarding how things might work with insurance in addition to our upfront billing policy. Although we can't offer free trials to most members without specific promo codes, we DO offer a true weekly billing plan where you can purchase one week upfront, as opposed to paying for a full month. Additionally, if you were to pay and find that the service wasn't a fit for you after one week, we try to be very understanding and can help with a full refund in most cases. We recognize that online therapy isn't the right fit for each individual and each situation.
Regarding insurance, although we don't work DIRECTLY with any insurance companies, some insurance policies can reimburse you for part or all of the costs. This is why we encourage members to reach out to their insurance companies to ask what that process might look like, and what they might need to see on an invoice from us to make that happen for you.
If you haven't already, please reach out to our Member Success team ([email protected]) to learn more about our weekly plan, additional information on invoices, and our financial aid program!
Warm Regards,
BetterHelp Team

DO NOT RECOMMEND
Dr. Janell Royster instructed me to go into the bathroom close the door and say 3 bloody Mary’s.... I didn’t think much of it until I was throwing my infant child across the room that I realized I was possessed. I then confronted her and she applauded my baby throwing skills and told me I should hail satin. I think it was weird because I already do... she just was very unhelpful and very unkind it was more than unproductive like I lost money and a baby #nothanks

Said after paying that my answers meant…
Said after paying that my answers meant they wouldn’t help me, then tried to refund the amount I paid in pounds in US Dollars. Scammers. Don’t use them.
Response from BetterHelpApr 30, 2021
Hey Russell -- we're so sorry for any confusion regarding the billing language. I can assure you, however, that you'll be refunded in the currency you paid and that our QA team has been alerted about a potential bug regarding the currency shown in our email response to you. We'll make sure this is fixed, but please reach out to our Member Success team directly if you haven't already ([email protected]) so that we can get this resolved for you!

I never tried therapy before
BetterHelp is a convenient way to get excellent therapy. It took a couple of tries to get the right counselor for me but the process was quick.
I work full time and have a very long commute so scheduling an in-office therapy session is out of the question.
BetterHelp provided the help I needed the way I needed it. It has been an emotional journey that I was afraid to take but I'm so glad I did.

Lack of ethical standards is disappointing
The quality of BetterHelp is totally dependent on the therapist. I had an incredible therapist on there for a year called Amber Smith. Considerate, thoughtful, and genuinely helped me turn my life around. She left the service, though, so I was assigned to a new therapist called Corazon Burke. Terrible - they spam me with long copy-pasted text about wellbeing to 'meet the weekly Betterhelp minimum word count' and justified themselves roundly when I politely asked them to focus on personal counseling instead. I was so uncomfortable! According to them, all the counsellors are doing this type of thing now to cut corners. I reached out to BetterHelp and they don't see it as a problem. It's a shame that BetterHelp can't ensure that EVERY counselor is ethical and has the user's best interests at heart and not their own! After being a service user for over a year, I have now canceled.

Thank you so much for your feedback here, Ikaria. I'm so sorry that your second counselor made you feel uncomfortable, and that they were sending you messages that didn't seem to apply to your situation. I've alerted our clinical team of this situation so they can look into this further, as we certainly expect far more from the counselor working within our network. If you haven't already, please reach out to our Member Success team directly ([email protected]) so we can gather a bit more information and compile a more wholistic report to get this resolved. We'd love to try and turn things around for you.
Warm Regards,
BetterHelp Team
