Every since I've found out about Better Help it has been major blessing for me on my journey to become a better me and to receiving peace. The counselor I have has been awesome and it may not be the counselor job to heal me or any one but for a person to accept healing for self I highly recommend Better Help. They provide the tools that could help many heal and repair whatever is damaged or broken from within.

I've had a great experience with Betterhelp. Was matched with a therapist that's a good fit for me immediately- and if you aren't matched with a good fit finding a new therapist is super easy & fast. Therapists were unavailable most of the time and I had to wait for 2 weeks to get an appointment. They were very shallow as well. It was hard for me to lead the conversation into actual problems that I faced because the therapists always limited themselves to small talk. Overall the service is useless for people who actually want to work on their psychological problems

My partner was brave enough to finally seek help and paid $400 for about 4 weekly sessions. I was ENRAGED when I heard about how his first session went. As a doctor myself, I was upset and could only imagine how he would feel if someone had treated him the way he was. We were NOT told that the session would be via live chat for <30 mins ($100/30 mins of texting is outrageous). When my partner typed out a huge paragraph, Nick Butcher did NOT reply and did not ever reply again. What is my partner was suicidal or suffering a panic attack? That's blood shed on this therapist's hands and the company's. On top of that, they were pretty resistant on giving a refund - still waiting to hear. Do NOT recommend at all. Get help elsewhere.

In fact, you cannot schedule the session without selecting the type of session you're booking! So… you really want to know the truth about Betterhelp? Betterhelp is a privately owned, for-profit, counseling service that is run by a greedy board of directors/owners, who does not take insurance and has zero affiliation with the healthcare system. Betterhelp charges a monthly fee for its services which is way lower than the national average for counseling services and makes it impossible for independent counselors and practitioners to compete with. Betterhelp pays their providers (contractors) on a 50 minute session scale so where a typical session would be an hour which equates to 8 sessions for an 8 hour day, Betterhelp requires approx. 10 sessions to equal 8 hours on their pay scale and this doesn’t account for note taking time. The contractors are underpaid and overworked as their payment system is rigged to hedge payment to their board. This is additionally screwing over their clients as they are not getting a “real” hourly session or adequate service. Companies like this only care about padding their pockets and definitely do not care about their clients or providers. Clients – do yourself a favor and use independent providers. It may be more expensive, but you’ll get your money’s worth. Providers – offer online services at a lower rate – beat the competition. Screw Betterhelp and other companies like them. Before you decide to work for or use Betterhelp, do your research.

We feel our compensation structure for counselors in our network, although very different than traditional in-person counseling, is highly competitive for an online format and involves payment for more than just live sessions! Although the structure you outlined above regarding payment is not our actual compensation structure for live sessions, and does not take into account all the ways counselors can earn money on the platform, we understand that ultimately you felt dissatisfied with the service you were provided as a member, and this feedback will be discussed internally with our product and clinical teams.
