BetterHelp has done a great job utilizing data metrics to pair me with a compatible counselor who has proven to be the most effective therapist I have had to date. I was initially skeptical about virtual counseling sessions but that has proven to be entirely irrelevant to the efficacy of the service that BetterHelp provides.

I was going through a very rough time. The therapist from my insurance could only squeeze me in once every three months or so, if that. I knew I desperately needed more help than that. Thanks to this service I am able to always be in touch with my therapist when I’m having a hard time to help me navigate through the issues I have. It really was such a blessing.

I am going to stop using this service. My counselor has cancelled about half of the sessions I've scheduled. ( 4/8) It's definitely hard to build any kind of trust when they are simply unreliable. Also, if I am being honest, I have heard from others that their therapists on better help cancelled all the time on them as well. It does seem like maybe this app is a bit of a scam. Promising 1 session a week, the counselors double book and cancel often, so I’m only getting about 2 sessions a month. That means I’m paying double the advertised price per session. Also, the availability is poor, so a counselor often won’t have a single opening in a week. I think this company is taking advantage of people who are genuinely trying to get help.

We certainly understand the occasional need to cancel a session on the counselor's end of things, but it's not common that we hear about cancellations at the rate that you've described. Although we do not guarantee any set number of live sessions with any subscription, virtually all plans include the option to have one live session per week. The ability to accomplish a weekly live session can be dependent on counselor availability, but if you're primary form of therapy with your therapist is via live sessions, we're always happy to provide extensions (upon request) to you if you reach out to our Member Success team. Our mission is to provide accessible and affordable therapy to all our users, not to try to take advantage. I just recently lost my oldest Daughter to Cancer . I didn’t know how to move forward. My wife and our other children allowed me to grieve in my own way . I started to try and bury these emotions, I was a total wreck of a man . I’ve lost one Baby Brother 2 nephews and one Uncel within 2 years time . My first child Denay was very special. All our children are but #1 is something a little different. She and all the other things took control of me . I have ADHD, I have abused alcohol, I have abused drugs, and my family members we’re concerned so they looked and found Better Help !! for me . I never thought I would need to person to confide to tell all my secrets to , but once I took hold of the idea, I’ve had a 100% change in my life . I connected to a very Helpful Person. Lowell Wallace (my counselor ) . He has taught me how to deal with my emotions, my anxiety, my substance abuse . These are every day things that every individual should know but some of us forget . I lost my way for a short period of time, and now I’m back to living my life the way I think is best for me and my family. I don’t allow other people to control my emotions I am in control of them . I’m back to work full-time, I have no substance abuse problems, and I have a teacher that helps me. My families a great help and a great support but having an individual outside of all that help set me straight. I never thought I would need a psychiatrist or a counselor or anyone to tell me how to live but if you’re hurting you’re angry you’re burying feelings and emotion . Have a talk with some one , talk to BetterHelp , have them help guide you to someone who’ll help you .
