My first counselor was who I envisioned I should talk with, but that wasn't what I needed. The second one I never imagined - and turned out to be exactly what I needed. Payments are done automatically using my HSA, the app is secure enough with lots of resources. In the age of limited contact, this was a life saver.

Betterhelp is a great service, and I preferred it over in-person therapy because: 1) evening availability, 2) you can do it from wherever you have reception, 3) you can quickly contact your therapist if you need something urgently, and they will get back with you in a timely manner. I would say that it does suck that Betterhelp isn't covered by insurance, but I don't think that most talk-therapy services are. I also think 45 minutes for a session sometimes isn't enough. I wish I had the option to pay for more time per session. Overall I had a really good experience with the service and would recommend it to anyone.

I have used BetterHelp off and on for the past two years. They make it really easy to cancel your membership when needed and return to the same counselor, or a different one, as needed!

It's like talking to a true friend who draws from personal experience AND their education. A friend who is sensitive to what you're going through but won't sugar coat things. I also believe my therapist would recommend a different person if they felt they weren't helping me or I wasn't getting what I came for. They'll ask if the session was helpful or if you would rather focus on something else but also give their input like, "I think there's more 'here'." and think up an assignment. No one can help you if you don't help yourself. If your therapist gives you homework, DO IT! They can clear the path and lead you to the pond but you can lead a horse to water, you can't make them drink.

I am really enjoying better help. My therapist has very high qualifications for the weekly rate I’m paying, plus I can message with her anytime i want. The app even has a journaling feature where you can choose to share the journal with your therapist. I don’t know many therapists who would take time out of their day to read their client’s journals. These ones do. Great system.
