This platform makes it easy and affordable to find help. While you still have to try several therapists to find a ‘fit’ , Better Help give you that flexibility which is key in building this therapeutic relationship

I highly do not recommend this service if you truly need support
When I first used BetterHelp years ago, it was somewhat useful. This time around, the experience was a complete letdown. The platform is now plagued with navigation issues, limited availability, and poor follow-through.
I paid $275 for a little over a month and went through three therapists. During the first week, I was already billed even though available time slots were extremely limited. None of those initial options worked for me, so the money was already gone before real help even began.
My first therapist was kind, but not qualified for my needs. His profile stated he spoke English and Spanish, but his English was barely conversational—and I do not speak Spanish. I switched immediately after that session.
The second therapist looked perfect on paper. Instead of focusing on therapy, the entire session was spent discussing worksheets, group therapy, forms, and how to use the BetterHelp platform. At the end of the session, he casually mentioned he would be leaving BetterHelp “in the near future.” That alone was alarming. Sure enough, he canceled our next session without warning, then did the same the following week.
The third therapist was nice, but even he mentioned that many therapists were leaving the platform—which is not something a client should have to hear.
I contacted BetterHelp to explain that I only received 3 sessions out of the 6 I paid for. Their response was to refund me for the next session only and cancel my subscription entirely. That was supposed to happen today.
I’m honestly shocked by how highly rated this service is here. This was my experience—take it with a grain of salt—but if you are looking for reliable, consistent, and qualified help, I would think twice before committing your time and money.

Hi Ray,
We want to apologize for this poor experience on your more recent time trying our service. These experiences you've described with these therapists are concerning and far from common. We want to be sure our Clinical Operations team is made aware and can investigate these claims further. We also want to be sure our Member Success team has successfully resolved the billing concerns.
I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account in the hopes that we can follow up with you directly.

Accessible and flexible therapy support
BetterHelp provides an accessible and flexible way to connect with licensed therapists, especially for people who need options beyond traditional in-office care. The platform makes it easy to get started, communicate securely, and schedule sessions in a way that fits real-life demands.
What I’ve appreciated most is the ability to work with a qualified, professional therapist while having the convenience of online access. The matching process, messaging features, and session formats offer flexibility that can be especially helpful during periods of transition or stress.
Like any large platform, the experience depends a lot on the individual therapist match, but BetterHelp offers tools and options that allow users to advocate for their needs and make adjustments if necessary. Overall, it’s a valuable resource for people seeking therapy in a more accessible and modern format.

Unethical and Deceptive Company
In early 2022, I signed up for BetterHelp—but I stopped using the service and DID NOT book any sessions. Despite that, BetterHelp kept charging me WEEK AFTER WEEK with NO EMAILS, NO RECEIPTS, NO NOTIFICATIONS!!! What kind of company hides billing from its customers?! I only discovered recently that I had been charged continuously since FEBRUARY for UNUSED sessions… and on top of that, I found FIVE ADDITIONAL UNUSED SESSIONS FROM 2022 that I was also billed for!!! HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?! When I contacted BetterHelp, they admitted I hadn’t used the service. Although I explicitly asked for a refund, they initially sent me an email saying they were extending my subscription?!?! I had to send another email demanding a refund, at which point they refunded me 3 months, and then 6 months following another email. They still refuse to refund the rest of the weeks I had a subscription I was charged for and which I did not use (no sessions, no chat) and wasn't informed of (NO EMAIL - what kind of an ethical company doesn't notify subscribers of charges via email??!!). They still refuse to refund around $700 of MY MONEY—for services I NEVER RECEIVED!!! Why not the FULL amount if THEY KNOW I NEVER USED IT?! NO OTHER LEGITIMATE COMPANY hides billing like this!!! If they had simply sent normal payment notifications, I would have canceled immediately! Instead, their lack of transparency caused me SERIOUS financial loss, stress, and frustration!!! I am demanding a FULL REFUND of the remaining ~$700 and for BetterHelp to STOP these deceptive billing practices!!! This is WRONG, UNETHICAL, and completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Hi Lion,
We are very sorry for any frustration or concern surrounding any ongoing membership payments made through your account. There should have been emails going out to you about low activity with the active membership if you were not logging in. We want to be sure this is fully investigated to determine what happened and to try to continue working on a resolution.
I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account (you'll be able to provide this through a separate Trustpilot form you'll receive shortly). This will allow our management team to review further and reach out to you directly.

Pleasantly Surprised
I’ve had a great experience with this company. I knew i wanted to try therapy so i had to step out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad i did. My therapist was Pamela Thompson and i highly recommend her. She made me feel comfortable, she listened and had great insight. I was able to speak freely and did not feel judged. I think everyone could use a bit of therapy!
