They need to start excepting more insurances because you just can't afford the prices with today's economy.1

No experience with ADHD I had to find out on my own. Each session led to a single conversation with the Ex only and last few minutes were what I could correct. She never had a fault. When she found a therapist for herself they only talked about the bible. Therapist do not appear to pick up on Narcissism.

Hi Jory, We understand that you were disappointed with the therapist you were working with. It sounds like this may have been couples counseling (perhaps through Regain). In any case, we want to be sure that we can have our Clinical Operations team look into your concerns further so we can ensure proper accountability as needed. I've requested the email address linked to the account you have with us so that we can follow up with you directly and try to assist further!

On the 4th of June, I decided to subscribe to BetterHelp with high hopes that I could get professional help immediately On the 5th of June, I got matched with a therapist. However, I was unable to schedule a session due to the platform error, which I reported immediately to support (Feedback #D6D1258). They said that it is a technical issue that they can't fix yet. So they offered me to manually schedule the therapy session. I sent them my preferred date and time (which was the earliest possible schedule according to the therapist's timetable). And I got no response, no scheduled session, nor the therapy itself the next day. On 7 June (2 days after my last email to them), I got a reply, and they asked me to choose a different date and time. On the same day, I sent them a separate email addressing how disappointed I was with the platform and the support. Imagine paying for a weekly subscription, hoping to get help, but you are left with 5 days remaining without getting the help you paid for. I have also emphasized that the subscription fee of USD 45 per week represents a significant financial commitment for someone living in a country with a much weaker currency. To my surprise, I got a response within less than 5 hours this time. They asked whether I would like to schedule the therapy while they extend my subscription to full 1 week, or cancel and refund my membership. Even in my disappointment, I was giving them a second chance due to my desperate need for professional help. It is now the 10th of June. 4 emails later, I still receive no response, no follow-up, and am still far from the help I needed. I have asked them for a cancellation and refund because I will seek help elsewhere. Perhaps this will get their attention? I don't know, I do feel like BetterHelp does not live up to its name and branding. Not only do I waste my time, but this experience also left me with bigger sadness in me, whether I deserve help or not.

Hi Sasha, Thank you for sharing about your experience. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality support to members, as we know how difficult it can be to take the step to ask for help! That being said, we want to be sure this case is investigated with our Member Success management team, and that we do whatever we can to turn this experience around for you. I've requested the email address linked to your account so that we can follow up with you directly and make sure you are taken care of in the way that works best for you.

I am filing a formal complaint against BetterHelp for deceptive billing practices, bait-and-switch pricing, and a refusal to honor valid in-network insurance benefits. Prior to signing up for BetterHelp, I received a valid Employee Assistance Program (EAP) authorization for therapy through United Healthcare, which prompted me to look for covered online therapy platforms. When I selected BetterHelp and initially signed up, the platform provided me with a written, guaranteed estimate of $0.00 per session. Relying on this $0 estimate and my pre-approved EAP coverage, I proceeded with booking and attending my sessions. Unbeknownst to me, BetterHelp delayed submitting my claims to my insurance provider for several months while they were getting my provider "rostered." When the claims finally processed months later, BetterHelp hit my account with a sudden, unannounced batch charge of over $600 for past sessions. Had I been accurately informed of the $86 per-session cost upfront, I would have made different financial and medical decisions. Furthermore, BetterHelp is an in-network provider for United Healthcare and is contractually obligated to accept UHC EAP authorizations. I possess two valid EAP authorization codes that cover a total of 4 sessions. Instead of billing the EAP program as contracted, BetterHelp erroneously billed my standard medical insurance. When I provided the valid authorization codes and asked them to correct the claims, BetterHelp's support supervisors explicitly refused in writing. They stated that they are "unable to update the payment method for past sessions attended retroactively" simply because their internal automated software does not have the capability to do so. A company's internal software limitations do not void my valid, pre-approved medical benefits or absolve BetterHelp of their contractual obligations as an in-network vendor. I have exhausted all internal customer service channels, and BetterHelp continues to refuse manual ledger corrections for both the EAP codes and the erroneous $0 estimate.

Hi Gerald, We're sorry about the frustration you've experienced throughout the process of attempting to apply EAP or insurance benefits. While we work with many EAPs and insurance carriers, we do not work with all. Typically, if we are in contract with your EAP, we would be able to first help you get those benefits set up. When those benefits expire, you can then check your insurance eligibility for coverage of continued BetterHelp services. In any case, we appreciate you providing us with your contact information so we can investigate this further. We will follow up with you with more information soon.
