Recommend not using Bay Alarm for your Cherished Ones.
My mom passed away 2 1/2 months into her 6 month pre-paid contract with Bay Alarm. I contacted the company to inform them of this, find out what to do with the equipment, and inquire about a credit on the time remaining on the contract. The rep stated I needed to return the equipment by 1/26/16 to avoid being charged $200. She said to send a copy of the death certificate in order for the credit to be processed from the date of death. I called again the day I was disconnecting the equipment to clarify what needed to be returned. I again asked about the credit. This time the rep said the credit would be determined based on the condition of the returned equipment. I told her the previous rep had not mentioned that, but thought to myself it would be no problem because the equipment was in basically new condition. I returned the equipment (at my own expense because although they suggested shipping with tracking, they did not offer to send prepaid postage for the return of the equipment) along with the death certificate and a letter addressing the credit. I then received an email indicating the company had received the equipment and would let me know if there was money OWED. I called and spoke to another rep and she told me there would be no credit and to refer to the contract. I informed her that was not what I was told by two previous reps I had spoken to. She acknowledged there were notes in the computer addressing a credit, but indicated I had not been told I would be getting one. I told her that was incorrect and asked her to send me a copy of the contract. She said she could not unless I sent something stating I was the representative of my mom's account. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she said she was the supervisor. I asked for an address to send a formal complaint. She said I could write the billing department. I sent them the successor trustee paperwork; again asking for a copy of the contract. I received another email stating the contract was attached and I would not be receiving a credit. The contract was not attached and I had to ask AGAIN for a copy. They finally sent it. The contract does state there will be no credits. I am agreeable to following legitimate contracts. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is being told dishonest/incorrect information over the phone by not one rep, but by two. Both informed me I would be able to get a credit on my mom's account. It appears to me, the company is mainly concerned about getting their equipment returned by whatever means possible. This includes providing false information over the phone. I recommend not using this company.
