We have had our animals seen at…
We have had our animals seen at Banfield for a number of years. It is so sad to see how horrible the services are and the rudeness from the front office. Our medical records were not accurate and when we called to discuss this the front office person was rude and she was wrong! We had our dog seen by 3 different vets each giving us a different diagnosis. I was thinking maybe they are this careless and rude just to our family. I have been looking at the reviews for Banfield in Carlsbad and it’s one bad review after another. Not very encouraging when you have to drop your pet off and all you get to talk to is a vet tech after being on hold for 15 minutes. If you leave a message regarding your pet return calls are not made. The support staff for the vets are definitely not supportive and don’t care about your pets.

I have been a very loyal Banfield…
I have been a very loyal Banfield customer for years. They are getting worse and worse. The vert doesn't even come out and talk with you anymore. The questions you ask the nurse get ignored. You pay in advance for medication, that you can't get. Horrible experience, time for me to find someone who cares about my pets.

She gave me 16 years, I let her down on her last day.
Beings her Vet is closed on Sunday, when my sick Cat took a bad turn I thought this nearby place was a godsend, AS I HAD NO CHOICE. I don't want to cry again so I'll keep it short with @ 20% of the issues.
On the phone they explained that if I didn't have her cremated they would put her in a bag so I couldn't see her, and go to my own vet for cremation, the girl said "whichever choice you make the cost would be $300 max." I drove there alone to pay & prepare the way to lessen her suffering before crating my frail beauty. When I got there the cost rose to over $ 375
I DID NOT BRING THAT she said $ 300 ! So I was forced into the "bagging" option. They were still verrry slow while she was suffering.
I was scratching her head through the long wait when the 2 nurses came in & hooked her IV up.
When the Doc finally got there with the drugs my girl was laying in a puddle of drool. As he administered it the 3 of them crowded me away & she DIED ALONE without my touch. I left the room, later the nurse gave me the carrier with my cat, un-bagged with the look of major pain and terror on her face & her mouth wide open. Then through my tears I had to put my love in bags & freeze her myself. The worst day of my life
and now my lasting memory of her is that tortured look. I will never forget this. Don't make my mistake PLEASE stay away or you too will be sorry. NJ

I insured my 3 dogs 4 years ago
I insured my 3 dogs 4 years ago. At the begining the company was not bad. They has multiple doctors on site.
NOW : Do NOT waste your money. one Doctor only at each location. Their services are very expensive. Price everything before you get banfield to service your pet.
They absolutely do not care anymore. all about sales.
I took my dogs 2 days after limping. doctor at Banfield say the dog is ok. she keept limping more and more. I went to another doctor (though i have benfield plan at $50/m) that doctor got xray rightaway and mentioned Patella Laxation and Hip ball is out of joint. In banfield xray is $250 and they do not even offer it. cost of visit Dr Mammas and xray and proper diagnose was $190.
Also my dog has Patella Laxation in both legs. I was told for the first time by the banfield doctor less than a year ago. my dog has had the laxation for a while. Banfield did not care to communicate with me.
Another thing: they used to visit the pet in front of you. now they take the pet away and you go and come back and God knows what they examine or not !!!
Avoid Banfield NOT GOOD anymore!

I gave them 1 star because that's the…
I gave them 1 star because that's the least I can go. I am so angry. I have a teacup yorkie that is 8 years old. She is also my son with Down Syndrome service & seizure dog. Every once in a while her knee pops out because she loves to jump. It popped out and I brought her to Banfield in Woodbury Nj the vet was so nasty. She made a comment in front of my son it is time to look for a new service dog because she won't live long or get one of your other yorkies to take her place. And keep saying things to upset my son and us. What the hell. I told her to stop my son was crying so hard. He can't afford another seizure. She seem pissed that she was working there. My son is a make a wish child and got her from them. He loves her so much. She needs to be removed.

I am so extremely disappointed
I am so extremely disappointed! I have had my
dog on a monthly plan for 13 years. I am afraid
we've come to end of life and Banfield can't see
her for over a week and said take her elsewhere.
Thanks for just taking my money when it was
convenient and profitable for you. Don't give this
company your money or entrust their care for
your pet…they simply don't care.

My Cat Sophie
On June 4, 22 I took my cat into your location in Fort Laud. She had not eaten, was lethargic and had not gone to the bathroom for 2 days. Upon arrival I gave the lady who checked her in all the concerns I had which she wrote down. she was dropped off at 11am (I find it very disturbing that a pet owner cannot accompany their pet to be examined at this establishment) to find out what was wrong with my baby. A little while later I repeated myself to another assistant the same concerns. Around 3pm Dr. Lauren Byrket called me to ask what Sophie’s issues were, I was in shock as Sophie had been in their care since 11am. For the third time I repeated myself. I asked her if Sophie got a urine test This was followed up by the Dr. asking me if I wanted a urine test quoting cost as she went. By this time I was upset because of repetitive questions and the length of time Sophie had spent there with no one checking her out. Banfield ran a bunch of tests including but not limited to roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and so many more, some of which I understand to discern Sophie’s issues, others just to run up the bill. She was also given some medicine to encourage her to eat, intravenous antibiotics etc. Dr. Byrket called again around 4 – 4:30pm with the diagnosis of Sophie, a little anemia, a little tartar, little blood infection, a little pesticide (no pesticides used in my home) in her urine NOTHING TOO CRAZY. The x-rays diagnosed her with a hernia but to confirm they sent the x-rays to a specialist incurring additional fees, her diagnosis was done VIA PHONE CALL. I was told to pick Sophie up before 5pm as they close and She is ready to go home. When I arrived for Sophie I asked about a health plan for my cat. Her assistant said if I get the plan today I pay through the year and if Sophie dies I am still liable for the balance of the plan. I asked at that time if my Sophie was going to die. He did not confirm either way. After paying $972+ I took Sophie home (after checking other vet charges for such tests in the area I can say this establishment charges almost double). Sophie remained in distress all through the weekend as I patiently waited for the results I was promised on Monday. I could no longer see my Sophie suffering so I called Dr. Byrket and she repeated once again Sophie had a hernia. I asked her if they had an ultra sound on their premises and she replied NO THEY DID NOT HAVE AN ULTRASOUND AT THEIR LOCATION. I suggested perhaps a second opinion from another veterinarian would be a good idea. I was so distressed to see my cat suffering so much I immediately called another vet for a second opinion to resolve Sophie’s issues. On Tuesday a local veterinarian made an examination of Sophie in my presence and, after checking her gums he said she had crazy anemia and when he touched her belly she cried in pain. He then stated there was something seriously wrong with her. He asked for the x-rays from Banfield, and upon checking the same x-rays he exclaimed Sophie does not have a hernia she has a large mass accompanied by several other abnormalities. He required an ultrasound to confirm his diagnosis, another $595 to get the answer I needed for Sophie. Next day the diagnosis was grim for my Sophie. She had several masses in her intestines and one that was particularly large between her heart and her esophagus. Her life span at that time was cut extremely short and I made the most painful decision of my life. Sophie’s suffering had to end as there was ABSOLUTELY NO RECOVERING from this. Banfield absolutely refuses to refund a part of my $972, in my opinion for their wrong diagnosis and unnecessary medication. If you love your pet I would suggest if you are contemplating utilizing this Banfield location that you do some homework, compare their prices and Dr’s references and reviews for starters.
