Do not trust Banfield. Took my dog for an rabies and a scratch.$538 dollars later. Put you on unnecessary monthly plan($568). They did tests and stuff on my dog I did not know about. They are u me truthful and try to get you to join a 12 month plan. Pricing outrageous. Stay away

We will be cancelling our Banfield Pet…
We will be cancelling our Banfield Pet Insurance at the end of contract based upon this facility - I HATE to write bad reviews & have bit my tongue on this one but: Cat needed emergency surgery and "I" believe the Vetinarian surgeon DID a good job AND the staff WAS friendly HOWEVER: I had to ask 6 times to see the x-rays, I even explained I used to teach radiology - I asked on day one of the diagnosis - I called the next day to ask again - I called the day before the surgery to ask again THEN I asked when I brought cat IN for the surgery STILL NOTHING until I wrote a complaint THEN the Vetinarian personally called me to state: "We sent did you get" SECOND I brought in a plastic bottle of "water additive to keep dental clean" for pets TO ASK DID THIS LEAD TO THE STONES IN THE CATS StoMACH?? no answer I called again to ask no answer I asked on the day of surgery "does the Vet. have an opinon?" no answer and WHEN I PICKED CAT UP the (very friendly) tech brought cat out and handed me the bottle WITH NO COMMENT. As someone who grew up in healthcare/in healthcare my entire life - I simply can not tolerate this enormous break down in a) simple communication b) simple efficiency c) lack of professional follow up

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A WELLNESS PLAN
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A WELLNESS PLAN! We had to put my 14 year old dog down and we have to pay $300 to cancel the plan, or wait until the contract expires in 6 months. I understand that its a contract but the fact that they have no exceptions for when your dog dies is unbelievable. We have to keep paying for a wellness plan for my dead dog and its honestly heartbreaking. I will be telling everyone I know to not use this company because its not worth the heartache of seeing a charge on my card for my dead dog for the next six months.

If there were a Zero star option
If there were a Zero star option, I would choose that one. I was a customer for about 8 years. Recently I took my baby girl in, for pain in her left leg, they said it was her aging, and prescribed medication. About 2 weeks ayer took her back in, this time ; they convinced me to upgrade plan to an 80.00 something one, they would give her anesthesia to take X-rays. I was also charged 120.00 for sending X-rays out to be read by someone else. On the day of X-rays Doctor told me it looks like osteoarthritis in her leg. Medication was again. This time her pain was more severe and she cried in pain, she could not get comfortable. I was told to give her two pills instead of one. When results came back, Doctor did report noted a aggressive lesion in left pelvic area, which was cancer. I made the decision to euthanize my baby girl. I called to cancel account, since no longer needed. I was told , I still owe them money , about 780.00, that I could pay it now or they will keep withdrawing monthly fee, until paid up. I find this inhumane, looks like money wins, not lost family members. Don’t use this place, get dog insurance instead. For the folks with good reviews, wait until it’s your go. Might write up a different one.

Would not recommend.
I did my research on many local vet offices in my area when I first got my puppy 9 weeks ago. Banfield pet hospital was the most recommended from friends and family. Online reviews were hard to judge because of there being so many locations.
I would like to say that everytime I leave the office I am very frustrated with my decision to start a puppy wellness plan with them. When my puppy was hit by another dog, there was not an opening for WEEKS. When we came in for our wellness check they gave me attitude because I did not bring my puppy to them when he got bit (we took him to a family owned vet who made time for him that day). They also acted as if they knew nothing about him being bit although I called multiple Banfields In my area to find an opening.
Next, they do not allow anyone back with your animal (in our area). I do not appreciate that I am a paying customer monthly and the rest of our area is open without masks, but the “doctor” gets to decide if they want paying customers back. Honestly think they just are using Covid as an excuse to not have us back there so they can handle our puppy however they want.
This last visit our puppy came out of the appointment excited to see us and they pulled him back to the back (unwillingly) because they “forgot to do one more thing”. Are you kidding me? Additionally, he had a horrible fishy smell from his butt that he only makes when he is extremely scared. Usually we only smell it when he is scared being in a moving sound. Which tells me he was scared enough back there that he secreted the oily smell.
The list goes on. I don’t like that there was a couple waiting for their dog and the doctor came out to talk to them with us right next to them and we overheard them telling the couple that there dog may have cancer. That is an intimate conversation and it should NOT have occured in front of other customers. Another reason why families should be allowed back with their animals and be able to have individual conversations with the doctors. We relocated ourselves to give them the privacy they deserved. I would mot recommend a plan with banfield.

One of those good reviews
So strange to read so many bad reviews. Normally, mine fall right in line, but not this time. I've been a Banfield customer for the past 12 years and they've almost always treated my doggy well: They have a bit of an issue occasionally over prescribing medications such as muscle relaxant following a recent injury, but when the dog "told" me he didn't need it anymore, I listened to him.

They killed my little 12 year old male…
They killed my little 12 year old male miniature pinscher giving him 4 vaccines in one setting. Then the dr. head of the branch I was at told me 3 weeks later when I said something was wrong with my dog and wanted more blood work done, that I needed to stop tying up their time because they could be treating other sick animals. If I can leave zero stars or negative stars I would. My dog started going lame in his front legs by 3 weeks time. They sent me to a specialist that charged 3000.00 for a MRI and said he was paralyzed from a neck injury and wanted 15,000.00 for surgery that might not make any difference.
No surgery, no money... They said euthanize him. No I wasn't giving up on him.
2 weeks in bed next to me babying and nursing him he's walking fine but started losing weight... Diabetic ketoacidosis from shock to his body. The Banfield doctor missed diagnosed him AGAIN. MY DOG IS DYING AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
They have kids working at this location with a veterinarian sticker from a cracker jack bag, at least that's how it seems. I have since found out 3 neighbors in my country community out in the boondocks of the Virginia mountains also had dogs and cats die post vaccine at this location.
