I returned a rented car to AVIS at Munich airport on the 5.10.2019 ( it was collected on the 16.9.2019 ), the car was in good condition, and the staff never told my anything about the car at that time, or afterwards. The payment for the rental period was made by me months prior to that, so i was later surprised to see that they charged him 949 Euros on that day ( 5.10.2019 ). I inquired with VISA about it, and after months of alleged investigation by them, i got a letter from AVIS on the 7.1.2020, which was "backdated" to the 10.10.2019, claiming that the 949 Euros was for alleged external damage to the car, even though nothing was said to me up to that point at all. Moreover upon checking with VISA, it emerged that the money was charged from my card an hour after he returned it, which makes no sense at all, from my experience, any damage has to be determined at a certified garage, that takes at least weeks to do. There was also no photographic evidence of that alleged damage. My wife was with me in the car the entire trip, and can attest that we weren't involved in any accident, nor was any damage caused to the car. I also forgot a new Ipad pro device in the car, which i informed the company about immediately on the 5.10.2019, yet they never replied me back. Crooks !!!

Went to pick up a pre paid for car in the UK (through Auto Europe Australia), but was told I was early (15 minutes) so I could be upgraded for an additional £10 per day, which I agreed to. The service agent then tried to tell me that I wasn't insured and it would cost me a further £15 per day. Luckily I had the original reservation which clearly showed I was covered for basic insurance. AVIS took a deposit of £200 which has never been returned and is nearly two months since the car was returned. Trying to contact customer service dumps you in a queue of elevator music and marketing messages but no one answers the phone. Their business model clearly cares little about customer service and more about relieving the customer of their cash.

Litige concernant la location d'un véhicule Avis du vendredi 24/01 au dimanche 26/01 à l'agence d'Orly. Les faits : Après avoir récupéré notre voiture le vendredi 24/01 (Opel Crossland) à l'aéroport d'Orly nous avons dû nous arrêter sur une aire d'autoroute (au bout d'une petite heure) car le volant tremblait littéralement de partout. Après appel d'un dépanneur, il s'avère que les pneus de cette voiture étaient complètement déformés et qu'aucune révision de cette voiture n'avait été faite malgré ses 20.000 kilomètres au compteur (révision d'huile non faite en plus des pneus...). Bref, les équipes Avis n'ont pas fait leur travail ce qui a entraîné notre mise en danger avec un accident potentiel (ce sont les termes du dépanneur). Suite à cet épisode, Avis nous a commandé un taxi pour venir nous chercher au garage où la voiture défectueuse a été déposée pour nous ramener à Orly (presque deux heures d'attente tout de même...). De là, nous avons pu obtenir de la part d'un manager Avis la location d'une nouvelle voiture ainsi que le remboursement de la location de voiture initiale pour un montant de 70 euros (ce remboursement devait intervenir courant de la semaine suivante) Deux semaines plus tard, non seulement le remboursement de la location initiale n'est pas effectif sur mon compte mais je découvre qu'un prélèvement de 92 euros a été opéré sur mon compte après que nous ayons rendu la voiture en parfait état (sic) Après appel du service client, celui-ci m'indique que le prélèvement de 92 euros correspond au plein de carburant effectué par Avis alors que nous avons rendu le véhicule de location avec le plein d'essence effectué ! Ils ne savent pas non plus si l'ordre de virement pour le remboursement de la location initiale de la voiture a été lancé car le service n'est pas compétent...On m'a donc ouvert un "dossier réclamation" (super) En résumé donc, deux semaines plus tard : - Avis met en danger la vie d'autrui en ne faisant pas les contrôles nécessaires sur l'un de ses véhicules - Le remboursement promis de la location initiale n'est pas effectif sur mon compte et leurs services sont incapables de me renseigner sur le sujet - Ils me prélèvent à tort d'un montant de 92 euros pour un plein d'essence qui a été fait à la station essence à côté d'Orly juste avant de rendre le 2nd véhicule loué, un Ford Kuga "Ouvrir un dossier de réclamation" qui va encore prendre un temps fou n'est absolument pas tolérable et acceptable en termes d'expérience client, d'autant plus qu'ils sont en tort sur tous les points ! Je loue chez Avis qui est censé être une "référence" justement pour éviter ce genre de désagréments Force est de constater que j'ai eu tort

Absolute crooks - do not trust this company! I booked and prepaid for a hire car in Gibraltar. When I went to pick up, the car I had paid for was not available and I had no choice but to accept a downgraded vehicle. I asked at time to be refunded the difference in price and was told to contact Avis customer services. This then lead to one of worst customer service experiences of my life. I spoke to 3 different people over 2 days and had to explain the full story each time. Finally they told me as I had prepaid that they would not refund what I was due! They said the pick up office should have sorted it! I gave Avis another chance to fix this by putting the complaint in writing - after waiting SIX weeks for an email reply they again say point blank they will not refund what I am due. I consider this fraud - a company sold me a service they were not able to provide but still expect me to pay full price when the car I actually received would have cost less! Do not trust. Plenty of better car hire companies out there. I am a former Avis preferred customer that will never use Avis again!

Dreadful bland boring fleet..

Nach einem Jahr läuft es wohl auf einen Rechtsstreit hinaus. CarTrawler, als Subunternehmen von Emirates, hat von mir den vereinbarten Rechnungsbetrag erhalten, aber hat zu wenig an AVIS weitergeleitet. AVIS wird mich jetzt auf diesen Betrag verklagen, da CarTrawler und AVIS nicht in der Lage sind die Abrechnung untereinander zu klären.

Do not trust AVIS. Do not trust AVIS! Do not take-over a car at night as you will not be able to see all damages. In the end you will lose your deposit as very often you will be charged by AVIS for damages which already existed at take-over. I do not recommend AVIS-Budget any longer! Bad experience in two cases. Sehr schlechte Erfahrung mit AVIS in Deutschland. Nach meiner Erfahrung muss man von einem System der Kunden-Abzocke ausgehen.Vollkommen unseriöse Abwicklung. Nie wieder AVIS-Budget!

Terrible customer service! Was unfairly charged over 100 Euros for minimal pet hair, and was never told about these charges - basically had a shock when I looked at my bank balance! I contested the charges to be told I would receive a decision within 2 weeks as to whether I would be refunded. It's been well over 2 weeks now, and I have not heard from them. Basically, these guys never contacted me about the cleaning charges after I have dropped the car of (fully fuelled and pretty damn clean). They just helped themselves to my money because in their book the car was riddled with dog hairs - could not be further from the truth. Then when I rang them to politely explain the situation, they have promised to contact me and yet no contact has been made whatsoever. Shady and somewhat unethical company. Think very carefully before hiring from them - especially if you have a dog! Some hire centers may be better than others, but my hire centre has been shockingly bad solely as a result of the unexpected charges that I was not given a chance to contest upfront! I feel they look for any opportunity they can get to profit from their customers, regardless of the ethics involved. ^^^UPDATE*** Has been about 7 weeks now since I rang Avis customer service to complain about the unfair charges. Although told someone would get back to me within 3 weeks, I have not heard anything and doubt I will. Second time now they have really messed up. They have no idea how to run a Company. ^^^UPDATE*** Has now been almost 6 months and no word from Avis, even though they promised me they'd get in touch. Really disgusting company - stay clear of. More crooked than a witches broomstick!
