The Rubex is one of the better units but the installation instructions and tech support are absolutely terrible
The Rubex seems to be a well designed sturdy unit that works well. There are few glitches; 1, no stop when the foot rest is raised, allowing it to hit the main housing creating a dent.2. the chair swivel lever if pushed all the way down catches on a mounting screw, and unless raised a bit, stops the swivel. 3. there is a transformer hum that can be annoying, if so inclined. That might seem like a lot, but the customer ratings of many other brand name units are much, much worse, from super expensive maintenance and repairs to becoming totally useless. My rating is solely based on this; When I told the salesman the track had to be cut, he said I could easily do that with a good hacksaw, which was true. BUT he didn't advise me that both the electrical cable and its protective plastic chain would also have to be modified to work with the cut length. There was no reference on how do that in the provided installation guide or facebook clips either. Customer service was even worse, from not understanding the problem to saying "it couldn't be properly done without some factory alteration. I finally figured out a simple and easy solution which works as well as as any "factory" adjustments. SO, anyone that needs anything but the standard track length should get it installed (too$$$$)or at least be very mechanically inclined. These people tout that they have been in this business for years, so it is absolutely unacceptable they have not addressed this common problem. I believe if they did their sales would tank. I understand that the majority of these lifts are bought on the internet by most who intend to install by themselves. IF the instructions were truly honest, and addressed such difficulties, people would see a custom installation is not as easy as lead to believe and many would decide to do something else.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your issues with our instructions. We are working on some better resources for self-installers currently along side our new website. We hope to have an entire Troubleshooting section of our site to help with these types of issues sometime in the near future. We apologize for the inconvenience you had during your installation.
