Communication was lackluster. It was extremely frustrating working with this company as you missed the deadline for pickup twice and it was we (the clients) who had to call to find out why from you, the company what had happened after the pickup window was already closed. Will not recommend you to anyone

All the men that moved our furniture were GENTLEMEN!! No foul language and was respectful at all times. And it was hard for me to believe that the entire house full of furniture was padded, wrapped and moved to storage in one day. Can’t wait to make that phone call for it to be delivered to our new home.

Great moving experience! Your scheduler worked with us when I fell and broke my knee and had to reschedule. Our driver, John Kirksey arrived to pick us up exactly when he said he would at 8:30 am. He and his assistant worked tirelessly to get us loaded and ready to depart by noon and had us fully moved in by 8:30 pm 300 miles away from our point of origin! We couldn't have asked for better service!

WORST MOVERS EVER. They hijacked our entire house and scammed us into paying an additional $9k in addition to the $21k we already agreed to, saying we didn’t buy the protection plan to guarantee our agreed upon delivery date. They lied about putting our belongings into storage and reloading them. The driver told us this was a scam and he didn’t have to do that. We had no choice but to pay bc they were not delivering our things even tho the driver was sitting 20 mins away waiting for the call to go ahead and deliver. Our rep from the company that set up everything was conveniently “on vacation” when we needed him most and nobody was willing to help us. I was told we were not privy to the recorded phone calls so I could prove what was agreed upon. Apparently this happens more than not with this company. I got laughed at on more than one phone call with the supervisor. Don’t know how they can sleep at night. I believe in karma though.

I used American Van Lines for my move in July, and I had a wonderful experience. The entire process was smooth and efficient : they picked up and delivered my furniture in a very short time. The driver was extremely cooperative, professional, and easy to communicate with. They also handled my furniture with great care, making sure everything arrived safely and in excellent condition. I’m very happy with their service and would definitely recommend American Van Lines to anyone looking for reliable movers.

My original contact with an American Van Lines agent was extremely helpful and friendly. However, during the pick-up and delivery scheduling we hit a hiccup. We were cleaning out my parents house in Florida and the trucked items were being delivered to NJ. We still had cleaning to do in the FL house before it was closed on/sold. I was assured that we would beat the delivery truck to NJ. Not the case. The AVL truck got to NJ before us. We had to pay additional $$$ to overnight the drivers and truck. Once we met at our NJ home, the delivery person said our driveway was too small for his 16 wheeler. He wanted to unload to a smaller box truck at a different location. Fortunately, we have a friendly understanding police force in our small town. I policeman parked on the road to divert traffic. So we avoided THAT additional charge. Also, the deliverers nearly ripped apart our front entrance fence to deliver a piano. All of this info(short driveway & narrow entrance) was shared with the movers in FL. "No problem. We can deliver anything to anywhere." We paid and additional $800 - $1000 in unexpected costs. Not sure I would use this company in the future. Ultimately, for the same final cost, I would have preferred to use a small family owned local company instead of AVL.

Great move. They did a great job packing and were nice and courteous throughout. Nothing was damaged in the move and they did everything quickly and professionally. They only reason I'm not giving 5 Stars is that they originally did not order enough boxes but fortunately we caught that in advance but that increased the cost of the move.
