DECATUR, IL Ace Hardware - My son wanted to drive his power wheel truck but I forgot he needed a longer screw for his steering wheel. I noticed they still had 10 minutes until closing and I live down the street. As I was pulling up to the store, I see the lady in the store (the cashier) start shaking her head, upset since I had showed up. The guy (I’m assuming he’s the manager) did not show good customer.. both of them acted pissed off. The two gentlemen in the back that helped me were so nice, helped me until I got what I needed. They were rushing me out the store that they wouldn’t even let me go to my car to get my money. I get everyone wants to go home since it’s the holiday season; but don’t forget to show good customer service! I didn’t feel welcome at all! I’ll never give them business ever again...

Rude and Inconsiderate Mike Meyer owner of harbor springs n petowski aces DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HANDICAP wow I have never been treated like this in my life I use to love all ace then I met the Meyer ace in harbersprings n wow heres where it starts saturday i spent 300 at Meyer petowski everything went fine like most trips xcept thhey were out of a tool box i wantted later that night I went online found out they have what I want at harbor springs Meyer ace so i paid for it n scheduled to pick up sunday. So sunday we go there n Im in a wheelchair well one handicap ramp was snow blocked n the other one had a long sidewalk blocked by tons of stuff of Meyer ace it looked like a pig sty so I stayed in the car because there was no access for handicap. Then my wife n son goes in the store since I already paid for my item and they get treated badly in store. Now I left a message for one of the Meyer owners to call me n no call so I call on Monday n couple hrs later mike meyers I think it was calls me back n he was so rude he kept defending his store n saying we're approved to have them items out there and I told him not scattered everywhere he says (SO) he didn't care if I tried to sue him nuthing he didn't care so rude he ruined my ace experience i will stick with online n stores near me I go to my inlaws alot n always stop by Meyer ace not no more nore will my farther in law.

I ordered a shed online and as usual, it gave me an estimate delivery date for me to pick up at the store. About 4 days later, I received an email saying that my order had been cancelled. I called Ace Hardware to find out why it was canceled as the email didn’t specify why. The customer service told me it was canceled because it was unavailable. I asked if it would be available if it was delivered to me, he said yes. I asked him to order it for me but he said no, I had to reorder online. I sent an email to Ace Hardware letting them know that they shouldn’t advertise something if it wasn’t available...that was 2-3 weeks ago, I have yet to hear anything from them. This had been frustrating as we had prepared for our outdoor shed and were very excited about it. I am NEVER going to order from Ace Hardware again! They should have tried everything to help me out and sell me what I wanted but obviously they don’t need my business.

I brought a three packages to the post office on December 5th. They were busy so I didn't wait to get them scanned. Two of the packages were lost. On the 12th I went to see where the packages could be. Rather curtly, the clerk told me, "We have nothing to do with that. You have to go to the distribution center." She didn't offer me anything else, as she asked for the next customer. Both packages are still lost, & according to the USPS they never made it to the distribution center. Today, I brought another package to their. along with about 20 stamped cards. The clerk took my package. I asked her if I could have a receipt. She curtly said, if you want it scanned you have to take it to the actual post office. Although I wanted to take it, against my better judgement I left the package, hoping there wouldn't be another issue. The rude clerk then started checking each of my cards for stamps. Seriously? Would I really hand them to the clerk without stamps? When I asked what she was doing she said, "I'm making sure you put stamps on these." Are people that stupid? One of the cards was larger than the rest, but within limits, and she squeezed it and shook it. I asked if there was something wrong, and she said, "no just want to make sure it has the correct postage. I can honestly say, today will be the last day I go to the Ace Hardware Post Office. The clerks are rude, curt, and not customer service friendly. The USPS at Brookhollow has the best postal workers. Maybe Ace Hardware should send their postal staff there for training.

I went to Ace to support the underdog, but this dog needs to be taken out behind the shed. It's apparent Ace does not value their business in the way they do business; employee hire, training (or lack their of), and customer service is appalling. Here is my summarized reason why: I went in with some questions to help me decide which tools and supplies I needed to purchase. Though not pleased with the situation unfolding before me, my attitude was quiet, polite and patient.. I interacted with 3 people: 2 had questionable English and lacked people skills and finally did not know what a circular saw was. (this is a hardware store, hire some people who know tools). The third person likewise was of no help in answering my questions. It seemed a burden to him show me the location of some of the things I came to purchase. Also no help in answering my questions regarding these. Instead he decided it was more important to practice today's social/political agenda he has apparently been programmed with (I assume Ace assisted greatly in this). He said that he believed i could make anything I wanted to make as long as I used my brain to think. I responded that I was already aware of my capabilities, but I am trying to get some help finding the rest of the proper supplies I need in order to do it. He said he was trying to pay a compliment, but it seemed quite underhanded as if he thought I lacked competence and confidence in myself because I had questions.. none of which had yet been answered (by anyone). He said he had to go because he was only 'allowed to spend 5 minutes with a problem about a tool they don't carry.' I reminded him that we had moved on from that situation and now my questions had been about about things I want to purchase from Ace. It was at this point I was done and concluded to myself that Ace does not deserve to be in business, so I will take my money elsewhere. I informed him I no longer want make any purchases and wished him a good day. As frustrated as I was with him, I blame Ace. He is clearly unhappy there and doesn't feel he has anywhere else to go work.

How is it that the HD has put this place out of business yet? A generation behind in technology and reliability, sadly stuck in the 1970s. HORRIBLE online ordering experience. First I ordered an item, completed the order. Later on it told me the items I wanted were not available, but wouldn't let me cancel the order. Ordered another item, and told it was available for pickup. When I went to pick it up , they said it couldn't be looked up by last name. So I gave the employee the order number and he couldn't find it that way either. I showed him my email with the 'available for pickup', he said he didn't have it. I had to cancel the order myself, still waiting for a refund. The employee, Dave, said I shouldn't be upset because it happens all the time. Nice. Save yourself the aggravation, shop at Big Blue or Big Orange.

Such a horrible experience in Ace Hardware. Poor customer support! No one's answering my emails. Please fix it!

I had a problem with an on-line order that was inadvertently cancelled, but that problem was immediately addressed & resolved by the manager, Art. He was very professional and understood why I asked to speak with him. Art works at the Port Washington, NY, location. I would definitely travel to this location again knowing that Art is there. This says a lot considering my home is 22 miles from this location.
