this is a scam to take advantage of senior citizens
I was tricked into a Wyndham/Travel + Leisure timeshare presentation through a "free gift" offer while picking up dinner cruise tickets in Myrtle Beach. What followed was a textbook scam. We were kept for over three hours — well past the time we needed to leave for our cruise — while multiple salespeople rotated in, each with a different verbal offer than the last: no down payment, extra bonus points, condo rentals to cover our payments, a monthly rate "below $200." None of it matched the actual contract. One rep even told us not to mention his offer to the closing manager, and when we tried to walk away because we were out of time, they rushed our signature through instead of letting us leave. When the emailed contract didn't match what we were promised, I called to ask about it — the salesman claimed he didn't even know who the other rep was. Months later, a rep called offering to "upgrade" my points. When I raised concerns about an existing $743.30 charge already coming out of my account, he became loud and agitated, told me to "take it out of the equation," and pressured me until I agreed to yet another contract, I didn't understand. I'm 71, my mother is 90, and I now have two contracts, mounting maintenance fees, and points I can't even use — no availability whenever I try to book. I don't understand most of the 45-page agreement I was rushed into signing. Do not attend one of these "free gift" presentations.
