Ask a lot of questions before purchase
update: The company reached out to me and provided a satisfactory resolution. They also agreed to amend some of there practices to avoid this happening to anyone else in the future We spent over $25,000 on cabinets, and one of the biggest frustrations has been discovering that some cabinets require modification during installation yet there were no instructions, warnings, or information provided ahead of time explaining that modifications would be necessary. When I inquired, for one cabinet I was given two lines of instruction and a recommendation to purchase a piece from Amazon to make it work. For the other one, a YouTube link on how to modify the cabinet. When you purchase cabinets at this price point, you should not have to figure out through trial and error that pieces need to be cut, altered, or modified just to install them properly. We also ordered glass-door cabinets that arrived without the glass. The boxes themselves were labeled “WITH GLASS,” and we were initially told by customer service that the glass should have been included. We later learned otherwise. Nothing during the ordering process made it clear to us that we would need to separately source and have glass cut for these doors. When I asked for compensation I was offered 11 pieces of 12”x11” glass for over $650. They weren’t even going to cover shipping. We also received a cabinet in a box labeled as a different size, which resulted in more time spent trying to determine whether we had received the correct product. It took us an hour to figure out the box was mislabeled. The most disappointing part has been the lack of accountability and support after the purchase. Based on our experience, Wholesale Cabinets has not stood behind its products or made reasonable efforts to resolve the problems. For an order of this size, I expected much better communication, documentation, and customer service.

Kim, Thank you for your order and your review. We appreciate that you updated the review after our additional communications. However, we want to provide a detailed explanation in writing to ensure that we address all of your concerns. You spent a substantial amount on cabinetry with us, and we are deeply appreciative of this. It should also be clarified that we are a value-focused business in the cabinetry space. If you would have purchased these cabinets from many of our competitors, you could have easily spent 3 times as much, or more. The reason this is important is that as a result of us keeping the prices down, on very few of our cabinets there are indeed minor modifications required at installation. Whenever this is the case, we clearly indicate this on our website prior to purchase. Any modifications are well within the scope of expertise of experienced DIY customers or contractors, who tend to make up most of our business. The two modifications you had to make was to not use the drawer in your cooktop cabinet (instead making it a “false” drawer front) and size modification for your double oven in an oven cabinet. Both were discussed with our designer prior to purchase, and the oven cabinet has the following note in the product description on our site, highlighted in yellow: “Note: Drawers can be removed and frame can be cut to accommodate larger oven units”. The Amazon purchase that was recommended related to clips to hold the mentioned “false” drawer front. These cost a few dollars on Amazon. To keep our prices as low as possible and to allow each customer to make minor modifications to their cabinets as needed, this is not an item we carry. For several of our cabinet lines (including the one you purchased), our glass door cabinets do indeed arrive without glass. The reasons are that glass can easily break in shipping and that many customers have different preferences for their glass (e.g. frosted, fluted, etc.) which is why many of our customers prefer to buy their glass separately. This also helps us keep the price of the cabinets as low as possible. The label on the boxes says “Wall with glass door” with a barcode. It is an internal label for the warehouse to be able to differentiate the cabinets with a door for glass from the ones with a solid door. The product description on the website states “Does Not Include Mullions or Glass” on each of the cabinets in question. In other words, your purchase did not include the glass, and it was not paid for, which is why we did request payment for it when you wanted these additional items, as you indicate. When you expressed your strong frustration about this, we gave you the glass for free as a courtesy as you indicate in your modified review. We consider this excellent Customer Service. As you also indicate, while we cannot recall any other customer expressing similar disappointment about the glass in the cabinets missing, we have changed our operational routines to avoid similar disappointments in the future. In conclusion, we fully agree with the heading of your review – Ask a lot of questions before purchase. We have a great team of designers to support our customers, but with the high value items and complex nature of the products we offer, we need our customers to review the product descriptions on our website and communicate their needs to us so we can support each customer in the best possible way. We take great pride in the customer service we have provided you and which we strive to provide to each of our customers. If you need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
