8 Years, Fast, No Issues (Until now)
We've been using Vultr for 8 years with almost zero downtime or issues. Dallas, Atlanta, and NYC Ubuntu VPS. Seems like most of the bad reviews here are people attempting to use Vultr servers for nefarious purposes, or people who don't know their way around a command line. Servers are faster than the Word of God and easy to spin up. UPDATE (6/8/26): I got an email at 4:15AM EDT that a few of our sites were down. These sites were for a major client of ours. I investigated and could not access the Cloud Compute server via SSH or the Vultr Dashboard terminal. I filed a support ticket with Vultr just before 8AM EDT. It went unanswered for almost SIX HOURS after multiple requests for updates. I messaged Vultr on X to solicit a response, no update. I booked a call with an SDR (Carmen Cline) to attempt to speak directly to a human. She canceled the call without a response. I booked another call with another SDR (Blake Matthews) and he ghosted the call without a response. I finally received a response from support that consisted of the following: "We deeply apologize for the inconvenience here and delay in response The underlying host where your instance resides has gone through a drive failure. We are working with remote hands to recover the instance, but there is not guarantee for a positive outcome. If you need to restore services immediately, we recommend deploying a new instance using a backup or snapshot." That is a wildly unacceptable response. I understand this isn't managed hosting, but this was a hardware failure, seemingly without redundancy, that caused 8 hours of downtime for a mission critical client. It took multiple pings on my part to get a response. Thank goodness we had backups to convert into a snapshot and get the sites back live on a new server. We've been clients for almost ten years, and Vultr has had very little downtime in that span. The incident today was a total trust-breaker, and we will be considering other options for our hosting very soon. Thoroughly disappointing.
