i am giving 2 starts only because teh support is super responsive but the main thing i didn't like is they offer you a 250 usd credit wich is good until you relise you are limited to 50 usd per instance max per month, they claim it antifraud policy i am sorry but many devalopers such as myself need much powerful instance to test our apps or systems it's not my problem you dealing with frauds it's normal i have to test out the instance quality at the requiments i need before i fully comit to you and it waste of my time to wait 30 days so you finally belive i am not fraud and your raise the limit this is not the way how to treat new costumers a huge dispointment

Thank you for your feedback, and we appreciate you calling out the responsiveness of our support team.
We understand your frustration with the initial spending limits tied to promotional credits. These limits are part of our fraud prevention measures and are intended to protect both customers and the platform. That said, we recognize this can be restrictive for developers who need to test higher-capacity instances right away.
Your feedback about needing faster access to more powerful resources is valuable, and we’ll make sure it’s shared with our team as we continue to refine the onboarding experience.
In many cases, limits can be reviewed and adjusted based on account history or by request. If you’d like assistance with this, please reach out to our support team at [email protected], and they can take a closer look at your account and explore available options.

⭐⭐ Misleading latency claims for Tokyo
⭐⭐ Misleading latency claims for Tokyo
Vultr support tested latency from their TY6 datacenter showing
0.14ms to AWS Tokyo - impressive!
Problem: After 4 bare metal deployments, ALL landed in TY11
with 2.7-4ms latency (20x worse). Support confirmed:
- No way to select TY6 location
- No plans to increase TY6 capacity
- No notification when TY6 available
They test from infrastructure customers can't access.
Wasted hours and money testing servers that all landed
in the same slow location.
For low-latency Tokyo hosting, look elsewhere.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. We understand how frustrating this experience was, especially when low-latency connectivity was a key requirement for your workload.
To clarify, latency can vary between facilities within the same metro area, and not all internal testing locations are available for customer deployment at all times due to capacity and demand. At present, customers cannot select a specific facility within a metro, and availability may change without notice. We recognize that this can lead to mismatched expectations when latency-sensitive use cases are involved.
Your feedback about clearer communication around intra-metro placement and testing locations is valid, and we appreciate you calling this out. We’ll share this with our product and infrastructure teams as we continue to evaluate capacity planning and transparency around deployment options.
We’re sorry for the time and cost involved in testing, and we appreciate you taking the time to document your experience.

Not suitable for a production environment
I signed up for a VPS that I thought would meet my needs but they limited my CPU usage. No problem I thought, I'd just upgrade my plan to one that had enough CPU. However they refused to remove the limitations and just stopped responding after my second email.
Don't risk it. Just go to a proper hosting provider.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter CPU limits when scaling your workload. CPU restrictions are in place to ensure platform stability and fair usage across all customers. However, we regret that our communication didn’t provide the clarity or support you needed.
We want to review your case to determine what options may have been available. Please reach out to our support team at support.vultr.com so we can follow up and address your concerns directly.

You shouldn't have to open a ticket to…
You shouldn't have to open a ticket to delete your account. I didn't even have an active subscription and they wouldn't let me remove my credit card.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating it can be when account management tasks require additional steps. While we need a support ticket to ensure account security and proper handling of payment information, we apologize if this process felt cumbersome.

Been with them for 10 years
Been with them for 10 years, paying a few hundred dollars every month. Today they decided to give me 12 hour window to react to a false copyright claim, threaten to suspend my server. Glad I woke up early to even catch the window and now nobody on their side is responding for over an hour, while the unrealistic time window runs out ...
For the last 2 years there have been constant problems with high loads from my neighbours, they always tell me it's "fixed" now until in a few weeks it happens again.

8 Years, Fast, No Issues (Until now)
We've been using Vultr for 8 years with almost zero downtime or issues. Dallas, Atlanta, and NYC Ubuntu VPS. Seems like most of the bad reviews here are people attempting to use Vultr servers for nefarious purposes, or people who don't know their way around a command line. Servers are faster than the Word of God and easy to spin up.
UPDATE (6/8/26): I got an email at 4:15AM EDT that a few of our sites were down. These sites were for a major client of ours. I investigated and could not access the Cloud Compute server via SSH or the Vultr Dashboard terminal. I filed a support ticket with Vultr just before 8AM EDT. It went unanswered for almost SIX HOURS after multiple requests for updates.
I messaged Vultr on X to solicit a response, no update. I booked a call with an SDR (Carmen Cline) to attempt to speak directly to a human. She canceled the call without a response. I booked another call with another SDR (Blake Matthews) and he ghosted the call without a response.
I finally received a response from support that consisted of the following:
"We deeply apologize for the inconvenience here and delay in response
The underlying host where your instance resides has gone through a drive failure. We are working with remote hands to recover the instance, but there is not guarantee for a positive outcome.
If you need to restore services immediately, we recommend deploying a new instance using a backup or snapshot."
That is a wildly unacceptable response. I understand this isn't managed hosting, but this was a hardware failure, seemingly without redundancy, that caused 8 hours of downtime for a mission critical client. It took multiple pings on my part to get a response. Thank goodness we had backups to convert into a snapshot and get the sites back live on a new server.
We've been clients for almost ten years, and Vultr has had very little downtime in that span. The incident today was a total trust-breaker, and we will be considering other options for our hosting very soon. Thoroughly disappointing.

They Don't Care
They blamed me for something I didn't do, and is actually a software issue/bug.
I created a Wordpress on OpenLiteSpeed VPS, but did not complete the initial configuration for several days.
Despite that, they limited all my VPS' vCPUs to 25%. accused me of violating their Acceptable Use Policy even though I had not yet configured the VPS, and then threatened to suspend my account if I don't respond within 48 hours.
I responded stating the above, and the replied that I needed to answer their questions. Never mind that I had not even configured the VPS yet.
I've been a loyal customer of their's for about 5 years now, so believe me when I say "go with another provider". I will be transferring my 5-year virtual servers to another provider today.
Vultr: "Based on monitoring results and subsequent analysis, we have determined your CPU resource utilization profile is excessive and causing performance issues which may unfairly affect the population of Vultr subscribers as a whole. Accordingly, we have limited the maximum CPU resources your instances can consume (an account-wide setting). If you are able to reduce the performance impact we have observed, we may be able to adjust the limit or remove it altogether."

Me: "Why is my account CPU limited. I created the VPS and havent even configured it yet. Please advise."
Vultr: "We have set resource limits on your account due to high resource utilization that was impacting the performance for other customers on the same host node."
Me: "Let me see if I got this correct, you (Vultr) are blaming and punishing me for something I didn't do, and is probably a software issue/bug.

Very poor customer service. I have been a loyal customer of yours for approximately 5 years now, but if this is what your customer service is like, I will take my business and money to another provider."
Vultr: "You will need to provide detailed responses to all of our previously asked questions."
Me: "The level of imcompetence or complete and utter disregard for your customers is astonishing. No one at Vultr is even bothering to read my responses. It is fine.... it is clear I will be better off re-creating my VPSs with another provider."
Vultr: "We are providing notice of our intent to discontinue service to this account effective 48 hours from now, due to violations of our Terms of Service/Acceptable Use Policies..."
Me: "Close my account permanently. Good riddance."
