All the franchisees are limited by the corporate control/oversight. You will spend a LOT of time trying to get an appointment, fulfill a refill order or speak to anyone. Five calls and 3 hours on hold to try to get more contacts and they disconnected me twice....never returned any of the calls.

Went to order a pair of glasses and…
Went to order a pair of glasses and lenses for a pair of frames I bought there a couple years ago. Once again I was told my vision insurance wouldn't be the best way for me to go. I was told I could NOT purchase just lenses as part of their BOGO promotion. For a pair of glasses with relatively inexpensive frames and a pair of lenses I was quoted $840.00. This was after someone behind a closed door told the clerk I could use the BOGO. This mysterious voice didn't ever show its face. Went to the optician behind them and got lenses for my frames and a full pair of glasses for under $600.00 using my insurance and a promotion for a second pair. A call to the customer service number at VisionWorks left them firm on the $840.00 price tag. They don't care. I had been a repeat customer...but no longer. Shop around. They will milk you for everything they can. Extremely poor experience both in store and on the phone with their customer service department. It wasn't like that the last couple years when I have shopped there.

Visionworks staff mismeasured my…
Visionworks staff mismeasured my progressive lenses for middle distance. They worked for long-distance and reading and would have been a great backup pair.
Instead of allowing me to purchase a second pair of frames to use the mismeasured lenses as a backup pair, they refused and insited that they must be discarded.

Ordered glasses
Ordered glasses. Store ordered them. 2 weeks later I Had to call them to find out they didn't have that particular frame anymore only to discover they had ordered the wrong color. Wait. Another 2 weeks later, wrong lenses. Lied to at store saying they were the correct lenses. Got them checked somewhere else, they weren't correct. Called customer service. Got a regional Manager involved. Nice young lady calls from a city with the same name city but 3000 miles away... a week later another regional manager gets involved. "Going to get this taken care of immediately!" Another 2 weeks later the regional manager calls, "They don't make those frames anymore. " Ok, I am canceling the order. I want my money back and VSP charges reversed! 9 weeks now. Nothing. Still no refund. Charges to VSP reversed? Nope. Never again.

Excellence in Bensalem, PA
Went to the Bensalem PA store today for readers. They were able to pull my records from another store location, find my prescription and guide me through selecting the features needed for what I needed to accomplish. Friendly, effective and professional - I'll return!

I have never had a poorer experience
I have never had a poorer experience with an eye care provider than I had with Visionworks Hershey Square, Pennsylvania. I know that chains are not the place to go for quality service, but Kirman (where I will now be going) was booked up on appointments. Even though I will now have to wait until October to get in to see Kirman, I will NEVER do business with Visionworks again.
Here are some of my numerous complaints:
- There is no disclosure on the website that you will not get a "full" eye exam at the Hummelstown location. Only when you get there do they tell you that the actual exam is performed remotely. I needed to have some sutures checked out from some corrective surgery on my cataract artificial lens, but they did not have the ability to do that at that location. My surgeon had advised me to specifically have the sutures checked, but that was impossible without a live person. DON'T BE FOOLED INTO THINKING YOU ARE GOING TO SEE A LIVE OPTOMETRIST AT THIS LOCATION BECAUSE YOU WON'T!
- The wording on the website says "Buy One Get One - All Glasses. Really" . There are no asterisks leading you to any fine print anywhere. So what a shock when I found out that the offer does not apply if you are using insurance, which I would bet accounts for about 80+% of VisionWorks' business.
- When I went to pick up my glasses, there was only ONE lens in the frames. How in the world do you miss THAT in quality control? - I was promised by both the Hummelstown location and the national office that I would get an update on when the replacement pair of glasses would be ready, but I never did.
- When I went in to try on the new glasses, the vision from the new glasses was much worse than with the pair I currently have! Since the prescription was accurate, it must have been an incorrect measurement of where the glasses would fit on my face (this is important because these are progressive lenses), OR there was a foul up in manufacturing. How bad were the glasses? They were so bad that, even though Visonworks was now going to give me the glasses for free, they were so far off I would have never used them!
- The staff is so overworked in the office that it is virtually impossible to get through to speak to anyone in the store. IF THE STAFF IS BUSY, THEY JUST FORWARD THE CALLS TO THE NATIONAL 800 NUMBER. GOOD LUCK THERE!
- Through all of this there was NOT A SINGLE APOLOGY FROM ANYONE AT THE HUMMELSTOWN LOCATION! All in all I probably wasted about 6-8 hours of my time, and now have to wait 4 months to get in to see Kirman, but I know it will be better than going back to Visionworks.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

New patient disappointment
I made a new patient appointment at the Fairlawn Store in Laurel last weekend. From that point on I had received several text reminding me of my appointment up to two hours before. Forth five minutes proir to I received a call from the store stating they had double booked the time and needed to reschedule me. I explained that I had physically went to that store and did not understand how this happened. I was then informed that when someone schedules online it remains open until it is confirmed. There are no safeguards to prevent this from happening again. I will take my business elsewhere.

Visionworks took both my money and my insurance benefits and now lie, lie, lie about why they don’t have them made.
Their customer service is nonexistent.
