This company is so antiquated in their thinking that it's EMBARASSING. They sell you data packages, that would be impressive in the 1990s. These days, 40GB is a JOKE and, with "real" internet users, is gone in ONE DAY. And it's not ignorance for the reasons they do it. Is it intentional they sell you "cell phone" data packages and call it satellite. You want honesty? This kind of internet is a rip-off. Their answer to this problem, "buy more data". Wait for StarLink because it's REAL internet via satellite. These companies PREY on ignorance in people and KNOW they can't get any better. They also know that Starlink is an "inch" away from making them IRRELEVANT in the internet world and that's the "real" reason they're taking them to court, not for the sake of the planet. These people are VERY keen to "talk" to you (and tell you that you're wrong at every turn if there's a problem) UNTIL you get behind on payments, then NO PEOPLE TO TALK TO. UPDATE: I tried to "end" my service. During the call i got cut off then couldn't get anyone (I'll give that possibly could be a day glitch). Later, i got a bill. I tried calling them, the voice menu said, "You have an outstanding bill so the service reps won't help you". I tried "emailing" them, the email button leads to a FAQ about something else entirely. I tried online chatting with their reps, the rep said "call us". How do you "call" when all options are cut off but they payment menu?!?!?!?!?!? BUYER BEWARE. THESE PEOPLE ARE VERY BAD WHEN IT COMES TO "LEAVING" THEM. Basically they cut me off at EVERY menu except "paymenu" and i wouldn't be there if they had done their jobs to begin with. 'nuff said?

Viasat is living in the ISP Stoneage when it comes to services. I am not sure if it is a hardware issue or the company exploiting their market. We live in a rural area where Viasat is presently the only option. The "unlimited service" plans that they offer have data use caps that are completely unreasonable for a modern family, especially considering the plan pricing. Exede was the predecessor to Viasat. I was an Exede customer who was pleased with the service. I enjoyed an "unlimited plan" for $100 per month that capped out at 150GB per month. Expensive, but the best bang for the buck. When Exede became Viasat, the plan price remained the same, but the cap was reduced from 150GB per month to 60GB per month. We usually reach our data limit by mid-month, and that is us being careful with the data usage. For the rest of the month our service is metered to the point where using the internet is practically impossible. To get the level of service I used to receive, I would have to upgrade to a plan that cost $250 ($249.99) per month. Every other segment of the ISP market is providing more data at cheaper prices. In my mind there are two explanations for Viasat not following this pattern: poor hardware planning or customer exploitation. Either way, I do not intend to remain with Viasat the moment another option, such as Starlink, becomes available. If you have another option (which we do not), I highly recommend you pursue it; even it means paying a bit more. P.S. I did share this opinion with the company directly. In summary, their response was "Sorry you feel that way. Here is a price discount for 6 months. Have a nice day."

Read this before joining VIASAT!!! -FOREWARNED is FAIR-WARNED- Imagine waking up on a Saturday morning and having $300 taken out of your bank account. That happened to me today, all because VIASAT has record that I've not returned my business account equipment. That is correct I still have my equipment sitting in my kitchen waiting on a box to send it to them. We had a residential account and business account. VIASAT sent a box for us to return our residential equipment to our correct NC address right away but THEN they SENT a box in June to our northern Virginia address to send our business account equipment to, even though we no longer lived there. After 3 more phone calls and nearly 3 hours of waisted time speaking with VIASAT customer service representatives VIASAT sent another box for us to send out our business equipment. THIS time they AGAIN sent it to our northern Virginia address, even though my wife had multiple lengthy conversations concerning which address the box should be sent to. After NOT receiving the box AGAIN for another 2 weeks, my wife calls AGAIN to VIASAT to confirm we never received a box and VIASAT AGAIN said, WE'RE SORRY for OUR MISTAKE, we will send you another box out; which WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED. During the time from June to August each week we received harassing phone calls from VIASAT to question us and accuse us of keeping their equipment and informing we would be charged if it wasn't returned. Each time my wife had to explain the issue OVER AGAIN and readdress VIASAT's INCOMPETENCE and waste her personal time trying to fix an issue that VIASAT was causing. Finally after NEVER receiving a box from VIASAT on August 28th we wake up to $300 missing from our bank account, all because VIASAT employees CANNOT execute a simple request to send a box to the correct address. Early today on a beautiful Saturday morning instead of enjoying time with my family I had to call VIASAT AGAIN to address their INCOMPETENCE and had hope I would received prompt customer service concerning my $300 being taken from me even though none of it was my fault. After waiting on hold I speak with a customer service representative who said we would NEVER have been charged if we had called and spoke with them. WHAT? After hearing that and knowing how many times my wife had called and spoken with them, it makes me think that the VIASAT customer service team has non-existent communication between their team members. To say I was upset is an understatement. Then, when I asked about my refund of my money, I was told we will send you another box and once we receive it we will then return your money. At this point in the conversation I realize I'm not going to receive the appropriate response I should have received concerning my money that they took from me due to circumstances that VIASAT created. On top of that, I'm supposed to trust that the box will even arrive. IF this strategy is used as a way to make a solid increase on their bottom line and not a one off mistake then it is INGENIUOS. They send your box to an incorrect address, then have terrible communication between their customer service team to the point that it is frustrating to speak to them and then finally charge you a missing equipment fee, INGENIOUS!! Imagine how many people get frustrated to the point that they just let them have the money. WOW that is an INCREDBILE bottom line BOOSTING scheme! At my annoyance I asked to speak to a supervisor which I was then told they had no supervisors on duty but they would send my email to a corporate escalation email box. That is what I love the MOST about today's CORPORATE business world, there is never anyone ever available to speak with who has an IQ above 7 unless you can luck up and find a corporate executive's phone number. To say VIASAT has TERRIBLE customer service is stating it kindly. Someone in their training department needs to RETRAIN every phone representative in their organization. Their communication system needs a complete overhaul since no conversations are notated when you call concerning your account. If you are looking for a corporate conglomerate that cares nothing about you as a customer and puts systems in place that allow them to STEAL from you even though you've done everything you can to ensure you are following their procedures other than doing their jobs for them, then THIS is the company for you! To say I am completely disappointed in VIASAT's customer service doesn't begin to explain how I feel. If you want the same level of disappointment and don't mind having your money STOLEN from you at some point in your relationship then SIGN up with VIASAT...

Over payment not addressed or refunded: I recently by accident overpaid Viasat by $400. After using the chat form of customer dis-service a few times, I switched to the voice form of support and eventually sent a complaint by paper mail. I never received a response to the written letter and received no useful and sometimes incompetent responses via chat and telephone. As of June 11, this issue remains unresolved and I have been billed for another month.

Absolutely horrible. Internet kept dying. Spent 2 hrs with tech support and repaired it myself with their instructions. Then it totally died 2 days later, antenna supposedly misaligned, service tech needed, and they don’t even cover it—so they wanted to add an insurance policy for their poor installation. They can’t get anyone out here for weeks. Meanwhile I’m working remotely with a tech job. An absolute mess. Do not ever use this service. Use Starlink instead.
