Private lessons at less than half the cost
The opportunity to have a private lesson with a skilled language instructor for $25 or less can't be matched, at least not here. Getting private lessons where I live start at $55/hour and go up from there. I think Verbal Planet delivers great value and I've had some very good instructors through it, though you do have to be selective. I also take classes from time to time and study on my own, but it's a great addition to my overall lesson plan. I recommend the site to friends all the time.
