I went to Valley VCA in Indio, CA because my dog was struggling to breathe. Spent almost all night there waiting for results of chest x-ray. They didn't hesitate to charge me $950 to diagnose her problem as collapsing trachea and bronchitis. Then, they REFUSED to treat her or let me know what to do about it. Medical director Dr. Baxter was RUDE and kept saying the same thing - to call my normal vet - who happened to be on vacation for 11 more days which I WHY I went to VCA in the first place. I'm very lucky my dog survived - no thanks to VCA Valley

I've brought my dog Max to many VCAs…
I've brought my dog Max to many VCAs over the years as my wife and I have moved across the country. I've always found their care to be top-notch. They really care about pets and pet owners, and in my experience always go the extra mile to ensure medical safety and pet own satisfaction. Their great reputation is well deserved.

no notice: abandoned all patients!!
The Encinitas location shut down and NEVER notified us so when we had a sick cat had no one new in place! This we had to pay ER prices and had no trusted doc to guide the care or provide outpatient basics. This is immoral and shows they do not care one bit about the animals just the money!!!

Brought my dog in after his front leg…
Brought my dog in after his front leg mauled in fence by dog next door. Told to wait over 2 hours. No doctor at 24 hour vet. Total crap. Asked for pics of the injury under the bandages and was told many times "yes". Still no pics to this day. Sigh. Doctors were very nice and I think they did a pretty good job. Bandage change for my small dog was just over 60 dollars each, twice per week.

Mars Inc's VCA clinics are the worst !
Mars Inc should not have been allowed to aquire VCA or affiliates. This was purely a strategic move for money and has wreaked havoc on both the U.S and Canadian markets .. VCA ( Mars ) took a very opportunistic approach and gobbled up many local vet clinics for next to nothing during the pandemic and continues to extract every nickle it can while initiating oppresssive expense controls including insane reduction of hours of operations of these local clinics until most originating vets simply leave the practice altogether. Stay away from Mars pet foods and the VCA Clinics !!

Don't use VCA Pet hospitals if you can help it.
To whom it may concern and it should, my friend who adopted a cat from Atlanta Humane Society was given a list to follow up on with local VCA's. We went to terrell mill animal hospital with our voucher of $350.00 very generious yes but used up in one visit! we waited over 30 minutes to be seen. The Vet was inexperienced looks over the cat, confirms ear infection left room... Vet assistant comes back with 3 medications. My friend is a senior! A shot administered to the poor kitty would have alleviated the stress added to my friend! Instead of giving the cat a shot she was sent home with medications to administer on her own!!! They didnt even demonstate the best way to do that. The ear infection is back and although she needs a new Vet at least we know her cat will get better care then at that VCA. A Vet with more experienced as well as thoughtful, caring & considerate!
Its great that ATL Humane Society offers vouchers but the partnership with VCA is a rip off!

Horrible people. Horrible experience.
I was referred to VCA over an emergency with my dog. When I got there, they didn't even seem to know why I was there, even though the referring vet had called them. I told them it was an emergency..... the four receptionists just sat there, uncaring. Even though they weren't busy, I sat in the waiting room with my dog for 45 minutes so one of them could create a new patient account...really??????. We then went to a triage room where again, after another 45 minute wait the tech didn't seem to understand why we were there. She took notes and left. An HOUR later, someone came in saying we had an outstanding bill that had to be paid before they could help us. I had no outstanding balance (remember, they had to create a new patient account)....but since it was an emergency and I was really scared for my dog, I gave her my credit card and said fine, charge me the $600 even though in my opinion it was extortion. An hour later she came back with my credit card, said she hadn't put it through yet, and we could leave and go somewhere else if we wanted to without paying the $600. WE WERE THERE FOR AN EMERGENCY for pete's sake. Then she said I'd also have to pay another $700 plus to cover the estimate for services. I paid it. They took blood. 45 minutes later, a tech came in and said they had to take my dog to the back. I asked why, and she said "I don't know; she's not my patient" (no one there seemed to realize my dog was NOT a girl). It turns out they needed more blood. They basically did a CBC and nothing else. Another hour later, the result was my dog needed meds for an infection. When I was being checked out, the "cashier" said I hadn't paid anything yet......I showed her my receipt and she still argued with me about it then finally went in back then came back and said everything was paid. I paid ANOTHER $450 for the meds. Another tech went through the discharge orders and couldn't even answer any simple questions that we had. The vet who saw my dog should have done that. I would never go back there. An absolutely, inexcusably hideous experience. They care about money, not your beloved pet. They didn't give a damn about my dog and me....that's for sure. A disgusting lack of care and empathy. They shouldn't even be in business.
I read the visit writeup VCA sent me...they described my dog as "unkempt". He is a clean, well cared for, extremely well loved labradoodle....he just doesn't have a prissy haircut, you arrogant snots.

Avoid VCA Animal Hospital in Iselin NJ at all costs
DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE... at the VCA Animal Hospital in Iselin NJ. Avoid VCA Animal Hospital in Iselin NJ at all costs.
We certainly did not anticipate in being ignored. Our dog was suffering, and they did nothing but tell stories on how well the dog was doing, inconsiderate, unsympathetic doctors and customer service representatives.
Two days at this hospital, $4,412.84 total. Left the hospital without speaking to the veterinarian, with the following recommendation:
“Please make a recheck appointment with your primary veterinarian if concerns arise.
Recommend rechecking CBC in one week to ensure that neutrophil count is improving or sooner if concerned.” The dog was not able to walk or eat, she was half paralyzed. How was the dog going to take the medicine in chewable form? We called the hospital with our concerns only to be treated on a condescending and unsympathetic manner. If this was their response to us, just imagine how they might treat the helpless animals! Avoid VCA Animal Hospital in Iselin NJ at all costs.
Our dog “Jessie” died, she was our best friend and she deserved better.
