We absolutely loved the Vet - Dr. Sitarivs. She was very attentive and listened to our concerns regarding our dog. BUT - the corporate office does not allow senior discounts, and only active duty military discounts. If their prices were cheaper - I could understand. We will be going back to our previous civilian vet - where the prices are cheaper AND they offer a military discount to ALL military members (active, retired, reserves).
When you’re both retired - every penny counts.

Until recently I have been satisfied…
Until recently I have been satisfied with the care my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel had with VCA Old Town and VCA SouthPaws. After Tolliver lost his battle with lymphoma and the Care Club contributed nothing to his “final expenses” I was surprised that I was charged an additional $128. for the privilege of cancelling my coverage. Care?

Medication prices extreme intant increase
Well vet's are wonderful and they really care but the fact that the Mars Bar Corperation has purchased the VCA hospitals as well as several others are making it practically impossible for pet owners to care for pets heath properly. My cats medicine went from 35 $ for past 2 years to 75 $ ( same med same size ) this is unexceptable.

Outrageous fees-especially for sur
I really like the staff at the local VCA hospital, New Hartford, that I bring my pets to but the costs are outrageous for general Basic surgery prices are ridiculous so much so that I decided to take one of my pets that needed surgery to an independent veterinary hospital where the cost was 1/4 of what the VCA hospital wanted. I am in the process of taking my other pets to the same independent hospital and that is only due because of the outrageous cost involved and not only surgeries but visits to the doctor and any blood work that’s done.

Concern over Money vs Pet
01.2024 - Rancho Cordova, CA. I was referred to this place by my veterinary for my cat Jack. A quick note is that I was a previous client many years ago until they relocated to this new location. I stopped going there because this place appears and acts like the money is more important than the animals. I have never had an issue with the cost of my animals for they are just as important as myself, but this place appeared to be more concerned about getting their money.
My vet sent over all of Jack's records because his office was unable to tend to his front tooth (which apparently was broken, and pulp exposed). I am awaiting more clarification from Jack's original surgeon.
When I set up the appointment, I explained what needed to be done and reconfirmed with Jack's vet. The scheduler stated it was a $250 consultation fee. I was fine with that and understood the consultation was to explain what they would need to do because Jack would require x-rays prior to them performing the extraction. This also required him to be anesthetized.
After receiving clarification from my vet, this place was to do the x-rays and the procedure (I was concerned about him having multiple anesthesias). I was informed this place would complete both x-rays and extraction.
I arrived at my appointment, not allowing Jack to eat or drink knowing he was going to get his tooth done, etc. I met the intake clerk who asked multiple questions, I inquired wanting to ensure my vet had sent in Jack's records. The clerk stated they had the records.
The clerk took Jack to get some 'vitals'.
Then, came Dr Zuckerberg. All she did was inform me that everything looked fine to proceed with Jack and the only difference for me was to decide extraction or root canal.
Much to my surprise, we were done, and Jack was going home versus getting the procedure that was needed. The vet informed me that all we were doing today was a consult and to schedule his procedure.
All for $210 and nothing new. Everything these people did was waste my time, make Jack hungry, confused, and nervous! I immediately contacted my vet to inform him of this place and he will be referring Jack somewhere where the animal comes first and then comes the money.
The staff knew that Jack was coming in that day for his procedure, NOT just to consult because I already knew what needed to be done and they had all his records.
To just repeat the information for $210 is beyond comprehension. You had the records, you had all his vitals, you had all the information other than my authorization to extract. that was it. You were to schedule accordingly and didn't.
I see that this place has not changed a bit. Just greedy. It's sad.

We have the monthly contract with VCA…
We have the monthly contract with VCA and while they help my dogs when we schedule appointments.. the issue is my older chihuahua is over $200 per month and we still had to pay separate for some dental work.. my younger dog is almost $70 per month.. just seems very expensive..
